A little less boring...

Man, the last two days have been crazy hectic. Was gone half of the day yesterday at a meeting then went back to work and when I got off I went over to my friend Lacey's to hang out with her and her son, who has the be the cutest baby I have ever laid eyes on!

This morning before work I needed something that was fast and easy to do to my nails instead of doing a whole new mani. I decided to stripe the American Apparel Pinto I had on from the other day. I used those white strips that are for doing a DYI french manicure and painted over them with American Apparel Mouse, took off the strips and presto---a whole new look for a tired manicure! Some of the lines turned out a little wonky...next time I have to leave the strips on a little longer, but I was in a hurry!

What the Swirled?

Happy Friday!!! So glad this work week is almost over, its been a crazy one! I look forward to many random naps this weekend haha. Also, it seems like blogger is being a pain in the rear uploading pictures so I'm just going to upload them to Imageshack for now!

My nails today were inspired by something very very yummy....frozen yogurt!! I went to Cherry on Top yesterday afternoon and got a wonderful cup of Belgian Chocolate, Cake Batter and Hawaiian Delight yogurt topped with rainbow caps....delicious!

the yummy inspiration:

Now onto the nails...I used American Apparel Hassid, American Apparel Cotton and American Apparel Rose Garden and marbled them. Truly one of my favorite ways to do my nails...I love the way they come out!

Shopping Spree!

now, I know I said I would not be buying any new polish for a while but I have no self control. Hautelook is having a sale on Urban Decay right now and the "Apocalyptic Nail Set" was on sale for $13!! On top of that great price I also had a $10 off coupon so I got all these for $3 plus shipping! Talk about a bargain!

I also finally gave in and bought myself almost all the shades of American Apparel's polish, I've read some great things about their polish. I also had a coupon for them and the savings ended up with me getting almost 3 bottles free! A bunch of the shades were back ordered *tear* but these are the ones weren't...

All in all, great shopping day! I will now eagerly wait by the front door for all these goodies to arrive!!

Sponge Aholic?

Today, I woke up at 9 am, then took 3 naps throughout the day. I don't think I will ever get tired of being lazy every Sunday. Somehow during my few waking hours I managed to get my phone fixed, do 2 loads of laundry and continue my "Dead Like Me" marathon...so I guess I wasn't really all that lazy, I did manage to get some stuff done.

Keeping with my lazy Sunday theme, I decided to tackle sponging on nail polish this afternoon. First time I've tried it, and it was so easy! I think I will be doing this more often!

I started off with OPI Alpine Snow as a base and sponged on Orly Snowcone, Orly Lollipop and Orly Pixy Sitx.

Star BRIGHT

When I say star BRIGHT I am not exaggerating. I was not expecting the new China Glaze Poolside collection to be as Neon as it is. Taking a picture of these nails proved to be very difficult, the neon pink looked different in every light!

I used China Glaze Pool Party as a base then stuck star shaped stickers on my nails once the polish dried. I painted over the entire nail with an unknown brand of black nail polish, once the black polish was dry I peeled off the stickers and used 1 coat of Seche Vite to make everything shiny and pretty!

Christmas in April!

I have to say, I don't think I have ever been so excited to hear my dog attacking the door upon hearing a doorbell. Today at the door was the UPS man, with a giant box from transdesign. Inside was a ridiculous amount of nail polish, I had been setting aside money for a few weeks eagerly waiting for them to add China Glaze's Poolside Collection, when they finally did I went on a bit of a shopping spree!

The Loot:

Very First Post!!

Hi everyone, or well actually just me at the moment...hopefully someday there will be an everyone! After years and years of biting my nails I finally decided about a year or so ago to kick the habit, as a way to treat myself I bought some (okay, a lot) nail polish. That day was the day that my nail polish addiction started! Since then I have acquired as of this exact moment 122 different shades of polish, though that number is going to grow as soon as UPS arrives at my house today! HOORAY! Since I started collecting polish I have been trying to figure out ways to creatively use all my polish, I have been experimenting with the Konad nail art stamping (though I'm not great at it!), using stickers, nail art pens, q-tips, water marbling etc. Unfortunately until a couple of weeks ago I never thought to really take pictures of all these different designs on my nails. It wasn't until I was keeping my Grandma company at the hospital that she had the great suggestion of taking pictures, mostly so I could show them to her when I visit.

I'm going to go ahead and apologize in advance for the terrible quality of these pictures, I promise they will get better even if I'm the only one looking at them!

This is currently what my nails look like, partially inspired by my wonderful duvet cover from Ikea. I used Ulta Professional "Holiday in Turks & Caicos" as a base then applied Ulta Professional "Blue For You" on top of it. I was really happy with how they turned out!

I thought I would also throw in a couple of pictures that I had on my phone from painting my nails in the past weeks!

This one is done using the water marbling technique, if you have never heard of that search "nail polish marbling" on youtube, there are tons of helpful tutorials. Unfortunately I have no idea what polishes I used to do this, except for China Glaze "Grape Pop" I remember being really excited about using it since I had just gotten it in the mail!

For these nails I used the Konad Nail Art Stamping kit, I'll have to go back and find the plate number later today (when I get home form work!). These were some of my favorite nails I have ever done! I had to really pat myself on the back when I was done with them, I dont think I've ever had such clean looking Konad-ing haha!

Well that's it for now, I look forward to updating this blog. Even if no one ever reads it I will get to look back on this in the future and see how awesome my nails were once upon a time!
