Essie- Going Incognito + OPI- Gold Lang Syne

Hi everyone! I didn't think I would have a post for you today, I've been too lazy to take pictures of the last couple mani's I did. Been in sort of a funk lately so you might not get posts everyday this week...we'll see! Anyway, I found these uploaded and saved but I forgot to post them! After I put on Essie- Going Incognito I didn't want to take it off for a few days so I layered  an old OPI called Gold Lang Syne over it. No idea when this OPI came out, but it had a black label so I guess a while ago. I like this combo, I might do it again around Christmas time! P.S. did you all hear that Coty (Sally Hansen) bought OPI for a BILLION dollars?!? I read about that on MUA this morning! I predict next OPI color will be green and called "Suzi says I'm rich!" lol j/k

Kleancolor- Holo Green

Morning! Is it just me or does it feel like it should be the work week to anyone else. It's felt like I've playing hookie from work for a couple of days...like I'm going to go to work in the morning and get in trouble for not being there haha.

Today I have for you guys a Kleancolor polish. I picked up a few of these a couple of months ago at my local swap meet. You can also buy them on the Kleancolor website. They are a bit more expensive there, at least for me but if you can't get these near you it's good to be able to buy online. Be warned these suckers stink like nothing I've smelled before. Though the stink wasn't as bad as I had imagined it to be it was definitely stinky lol. The polish below is called Holo Green, and it is awesome! I don't think my pictures do the holo in this polish justice to just how great it is. The formula on this was meh...a little thick and it went on sheer which is kind of a weird combo. After 3 coats I was happy that I couldn't see VNL...if you don't mind that you could get away with 2 coats.

China Glaze- Crystal Ball vs. China Glaze- Sugar Plums

Hey everyone! Hope you are all having a good Saturday! I'm having myself a mini marathon of the tv show "The Event" I watched the first episode and was SO confused so I decided I wouldn't watch it again until I had a bunch of episodes saved up in my DVR so that maybe I could follow what was going on better....it's working!

Today I finally have a comparison I promised a while back, I lag...sorry! China Glaze- Crystal Ball was a big lemming of mine and Jess from Polish Insomniac sent it to me a little while ago! China Glaze- Sugar Plums is from the 2010 China Glaze Holiday Collection. When I first saw Sugar Plums I thought it would be similar to Crystal Ball. Even sitting the bottles next to each other I thought they would be dupes or at least very close. Well people, they aren't...not even close! Sugar Plums is quite a bit darker and less sparkletastic, it also has quite a bit more texture to it. Crystal Ball is relatively smooth when it dries and only requires 1 coat of top coat to make it perfectly smooth, that isn't the case with Sugar Plums. Sugar Plums is what I like to call a "glitter sponge" aka it eats top coat and remains a little bumpy. The formula on both was good, I used 2 coats of each for this comparison. I myself prefer Crystal Ball but I still love Sugar Plums, it could be a good alternative to Crystal Ball since it's a HTF polish. The first 2 pictures below are in the shade, the second 2 are in the sun.

Essie- Smokin' Hot

Goooooood Morning! Did anyone go shopping this morning bright and early for Black Friday? I was planning on it yesterday then I decided I didn't want to get up early. Then I woke up at 5:30am and couldn't fall back asleep so I went to Target. Got the DVD's and Fuzzy Blankets I wanted then waited in a line that stretched around the store to pay...yikes. Nothing says Merry Christmas like a line as long as one as Disneyland to checkout!

This morning I have for you guys 1 more Essie Winter 2010 polish, I only bought 3 from the collection and I'm pretty pleased with all of them. This one is called Smokin' Hot, it's a kind of purplish brown grey color....reminds me of Paradoxal minus the shimmer. The formula was fantastic...I am SO impressed with Essie lately. I used to really dislike their polish but it's quickly becoming one of the brands I like better, go figure!

Essie- Masquerade Belle + Turkey Day Mani

Good Morning! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the US! Hope you are all spending the day with the people who mean most of you! I'm about to leave to go over to my Aunt's house, I can't wait for dinner tonight! mmmm haha. This post is going to be short on words but long on pictures! First up is a swatch of Essie- Masquerade Belle. This polish is from the Winter Collection Essie just put out, and I love it! Masquerade Belle is a vampy red wine color, I thought it wasn't going to be quite as dark as it ended up being but it worked out for the best for my Turkey Day mani which you'll see below. The formula was fantastic! This is 2 coats (sorry for the dry cuticles today, ick...I know haha)

Now for my Turkey Day mani...Essie- Masquerade Belle topped with 1 coat of Maybelline Colorama- Flames of Amber. I was DYING to get my hands on some of the awesome Colorama polishes but never could find any until a few weeks ago when I stopped by a Big Lots store and found the freaking motherload of them and for really cheap. If you're looking for these and have a Big Lots store near you, go in and see if yours has them too!

Did you know Torrid makes nail polish?

No? I didn't either until yesterday. Maybe you have never heard of Torrid so you're probably like what the hell is Jen talking about right now?!? For those that have no clue what Torrid is, it's a trendy plus size clothing store. The expensive fluffy cousin to Forever 21 I guess you could say. I've shopped at Torrid for years, I think I was in high school when my friend Lacey and I discovered them in the Brea Mall...back then they weren't doing the trendy thing as much and the store was decorated all gothic and awesome looking. I miss how that store was back then...anyway I never knew they carried nail polish. I was browsing their website (Torrid.com) yesterday to get a new belt and decided to see what beauty stuff they had...my mouth fell open when I saw a bunch of nail polish!

Nothing is too spectacular or ground breaking in terms of color selection, much like American Apparel they only have creme colors right now. Maybe that will change in the future, maybe not...who knows!  I ended up buying 4 colors since once I got 2 into my cart I realized it was buy 1 get 1 50% off! Props to Torrid for fast shipping too, I ordered these yesterday afternoon and they were already waiting on my doorstep when I got home at lunch today. I must live ridiculously close to their warehouse.

The first of the 4 polishes I tried is Storm Cloud, a great blue gray. It definitely reminds me of ominous looking clouds when you think the sky is going to open up and downpour. The formula was good, the first coat was really sheer and streaky but the 2nd coat more than made up for it.  The photo below is 2 coats and is in the shade, the polish did look a teeny bit more blue in the bright sun but I didn't notice that until I got back to work, so no picture :(

Now, my cousin who happens to work at Torrid says that one of the stores by us carries it in store. I didn't see any polish last time I went but I wasn't really looking either. If you happen to be at a mall with a Torrid it could be worth it to go in and see if they have it. You can also buy their polish on Torrid's website here ( I believe they only ship to the US). The bottles are not full size, they are only .33 fl oz, and each polish retails for $5.00. Like I said before when I added them to my cart it ended up being buy 1 get 1 50% off so it averaged out to $3.75 a bottle, that's not bad!

Sally Hansen- Golden Cinnabar

Morning all! Bad news, I broke a nail haha...like bad though so now back to nubs. That being said I apologize for the state of these nubs in the pictures below. I despise shaping my nails so they look like hell right now. I have to make a date with my nail file and fix a couple of them tonight...yippie!! Before I talk about today's polish I thought I'd share a link with you that Zoya sent out, I thought it was an interesting read...I'm sure you guys will too. The article is here and it's all about Zoya Reyzis the founder of Zoya!

Today's polish is one I picked up at Dollar Tree recently, this is my kinda polish! Golden Cinnabar is from the Prisms line Sally Hansen gave the axe to a while back but you can still buy it on ebay and I saw it at my Dollar Tree last week. Golden Cinnabar is a duochrome! It's got a little red, a little orange and a little gold. I like this one because the colors are somewhat soft looking. It's not in your face and the duochrome is really noticeable! The formula was good, better than I had expected. I thought it would be sheer but I ended up only needing 2 coats for full opacity!

Hot Pink Snowman!!

Good morning! Happy Tuesday, technically this is my Thursday since I get a 4 day weekend. My Dad said last night that this week goes: Monday, Thursday, Friday , Saturday, Saturday, Saturday, Sunday lol I wish every week was like that!

Today I have for you guys another one of those cute Snowman polishes I picked up at Rite Aid a while back. This little guy is HOT Pink, it's bright! Just for good measure they also sprinkled in some bits of holo glitter. I thought this might be a neon in the bottle but it didn't dry matte so I guess not lol. The formula was surprisingly good, I also didn't have an many issues using the brush this time. I guess I'm getting used to their little hat brush handles. This could have been opaque in 2 coats, I really liked the way it looked then. I had to do 3 coats because I'm a dork and forgot to wrap the tips on the 2nd coat! I promise the glitter in this guy is holo, my camera just refused to picture it as such.

Essie- Going Incognito

Good Morning!  Happy to report Degen's trip to Santa was successful. He was mostly a happy besides some nasty Cocker Spaniel that tried to beat him up...I'll never understand why people who know their dog is mean take them out into public and have them interact with other dogs. Degen's picture, with a not scary Santa, is at the bottom of the post!

Today I have a color you've probably seen a lot of already, but it's freakin awesome so you get to see it again. Essie- Going Incognito. This is from Essie's Winter Collection, and it's a lush Green that is just perfect. This polish is just *sigh* gorgeous. After the glitter and shimmer overload I've been having the last month or so a perfect creme polish like this is exactly what I needed, plus it's green and I'm kind of a green fangirl. The formula was perfect, and I didn't have the problem of the polish not drying like I had with Sew Psyched.

Revlon- Perplex vs. Chanel Paradoxal

Hi guys! Hope you all had a good weekend, mine was pretty boring...not sure if that is good or not. It rained most of yesterday but is nice out today, for now. I went dusty hunting this morning and picked up a few new goodies for myself, nothing too spectacular but a few pretty OPI's. Tonight I'm taking Degen, my wiener dog, to see Santa! I'm sure he'll be asking for a lifetime supply of cookies and toys lol. Tomorrow I'll probably post up his picture! At the bottom of this post is his picture with a brokedown looking Santa when we was about 9 months old...I miss my puppy!

Anywho, I'm sure you've heard of this new Revlon shade that just came out called Perplex. I searched 5 CVS stores before I finally found the display. Perplex is said to be a dupe of Chanel- Paradoxal, and it's pretty darn close if I do say so myself.  In terms of price well the Revlon is nearly $20 cheaper as it retails for $4.99, Chanel if memory serves me right was $23. I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I prefer the Revlon formula. Considering this is only my 2nd time using Revlon and my first experience left me with a bad taste I'm shocked that I like their formula better. I also like their brush better than the Chanel brush but that's just a personal preference thing. In terms of wear I wore my polish like this for 3 days and had chipping on one of the fingers with Chanel and only minor tip wear with the Revlon polished nails.  I'm not going to say which polish is which until the end, see if you can tell the difference!

I used 2 coats of Chanel-Paradoxal and 2 coats of Revlon- Perplex for the swatches below.

So which is which?

Bonus puppy Santa picture featuring the most frightening brokedown Santa I'd ever seen. If I was a child he probably would have scared me.

Milani- Hot Flash

Happy Friday! Everyone ready for the weekend? I AM! One of the ladies at work has been out all week so I've been doing my job AND part of hers, I need a serious mental vacation. I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving next week just because I get Thursday/Friday off lol. I've really been enjoying reading the comments you guys have been leaving on the holiday entry form. I'm definitely listening to your suggestions and I agree with a lot of them!

Today I have for you guys Milani- Hot Flash. The collection this was in was out a few months ago, all the CVS's near me took that display away a while ago and I regretted never buying from it. While I was on the hunt for Revlon- Perplex (which I found!) I came across a CVS that still had a good portion of the display this one was from! Hot Flash is a sparkly deep red, it looked like it would have an orange duochrome in the bottle but that didn't show on the nail :(

This is 3 coats of Milani- Hot Flash

E.L.F. Holiday Trio

Good morning! This morning I have for you guys the E.L.F. Holiday trio, I picked this up at Target a couple of weeks ago for $3! I like price tags like that! The polishes in it aren't too terribly unique, I bought it mostly for the gold hex glitter top coat. This is my first time trying this brand, I actually own a bunch of their regular polishes but just haven't gotten around to wearing them (yet!). I was surprised, in a good way, by the formula on these...mostly Cranberry. I have heard some not so nice things said about their formula but I didn't encounter that at all. My only issue was that the cap on Cranberry was a pain in the ass to get off!

The first polish below is Cranberry, the only non-topcoat one in this trio. It's a bright red packed with glitter. Not terribly unique but even I can't have enough of that kind of color. The 2nd & 3rd polishes are the glitter toppers, Golden Goddess is awesome! A gold glitter, gold hex glitter & holo hex glitter topcoat! I'm pretty much in love with it. I will be wearing that one a lot, it justifies all $3 I spent on the set lol. The last polish down there is Twinkle, the glitter in it flashes mostly green and blue but there was some specks of holo glitter in there too. This one is really not unique, when I saw it I immediately thought of Sinful Colors- Pearl Harbor, but whatevs...it's still pretty so who cares if Twinkle isn't unique...it will be fun to franken with!

China Glaze- OMG

Hey everyone, I have another holo polish for you today! This was very high up on my wishlist for a very long time. I searched every dusty I could find around me and this polish proved to be elusive. Then one day Emily from Squared Nails sent me a message on twitter that she had found the entire OMG collection at a dusty by her and offered to send me a bottle of OMG, the silver holo namesake of the collection. Nice, huh? A lot of the bloggers I have met in the past few months are seriously some of the most nice and generous girls I've ever had the pleasure of knowing! This polish is HTF, but I see it pop up on ebay for a pretty penny every now and then. Wish China Glaze would re-release this collection....or give us another holo collection!

Nicole by OPI- Bring On The Tinsel

Morning everyone! Today I have for you guys 1 of the new Nicole By OPI Holiday Collection polishes, this one is called Bring On The Tinsel. I picked this up yesterday at Ulta, I was happy to see they had put them out! This definitely screams at you, and it has all the colors of the holidays mixed in there. There is a good mix of all the glitter in the formula so no one color really stands out more than any of the others. I'm seeing Red, Yellow, Green, Silver and Blue glitter happening in here...all of it is suspended in a clear base. The formula was good, it wasn't thick...the glitter did go on a little sparse on the first coat. I did a semi thick 2nd coat and got coverage that I liked. You might be more happy with 3 coats. I think this would looks pretty awesome layered over something too. I will definitely be trying that out!

Ulta- Enchanted Nail Collection mini set

Hey guys, I stopped by Ulta this afternoon and picked this new set up. First time I've seen it there. The Enchanted Nail Collection mini set looks to be a collaboration with Too Faced, which is pretty cool. Maybe Ulta will keep doing things like that. Usually these types of colors aren't ones I'm drawn too, but I've been trying to step outside my polish box lol. The set contains 4 shimmery polishes and a mini bottle of Ulta's top coat. I think they were going for a holiday kind of theme given the names of the polishes, I really like all of them. Not sure how great they would be on their own, they seem like they might show VNL. I layered all of these over a nude color, Orly- First Kiss. (I almost wrote First KILL, that's what happens when I blog & watch Dexter at the same time)

First up is the set, how cute is the packaging?!? That's what first caught my eye!

Peppermint Bark, I kind of take issue with the name of this polish. When I picture peppermint bark translated into polish this is no where near what I see. I see a rich brown with red and white micro glitter. This is a peachy pink shimmer. The shimmer in this, and all of the other polishes from this mini set almost make it appear to be a foil finish...which I like!

This is 2 coats of Peppermint Bark over Orly- First Kiss

Spice Drop, this one is more appropriately named haha. It's the darkest of the bunch a medium pink. I used 2 coats for this also, layered over Orly- First Kiss

Sugar Cookie, mmm sugar cookies. This is a white base packed with gold shimmer. This one applied better than I thought it might, though I'm sure my "underwear" helped a lot. This is 2 coats over Orly- First Kiss.

Last up is Sugar Plum, this one is a purplish pink with silver shimmer. I thought initially this one would be my favorite but it ended up being my second favorite! This is 2 coats over Orly- First Kiss
