Sally Hansen Salon Effects- Frock Star Wear Test

I'm so excited for today's post, I've been wear testing these Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Frock Star for 10 days and I'm finally done...woohooo. For someone that likes to change their polish every day this was torture. For the last oh I dunno 8 days I've wanted to take these off so badly but I had some will power and stuck with it the entire 10 days!!

Unlike the previous Salon Effects I tried Frock Star was kind of a pain in the ass to apply. I found that the backing & plastic did not want to come off which caused a lot of the decals to be ruined before I could even get these on my nails. It's a good thing these weren't the first ones I tried to use...I probably would have returned the rest that I bought! Despite the struggle apply these it was worth it in the end, they look great...and wear awesome!  For this go around I didn't put on a base coat but did use a coat of Seche Vite. I'm not sure if skipping a top coat would lessen the wear on these or not. For removal get out the foil ladies, unlike Girl Flower removing Frock Star was much like removing any other kind of glitter bomb...impossible. If you thought China Glaze Party Hearty was hard to get off wait until you try this one!

All of these pictures below are in the shade, this was a little too blingtastic for my camera to handle in full sun!

Day 3: I apologize for the lack of Day 1 or Day 2 pictures, I was literally not home during any daylight hours those first 2 days so pictures didn't happen. Anyway, Day 3 as you can see below was still looking pretty good, just the smallest bit of re-growth and a little bit of tip wear on my index finger. No problems with the decals coming up or anything like that.

Day 5: Same as Day 3, a bit of tip wear & re-growth, no lifting or peeling etc...

Day 7: A bit more tipwear and re-growth. A bit of the glitter on the very tip of my index finger chipped off, but it was not noticeable in person unless I really really looking for it. Still no signs of any of the decals peeling or lifting.

Day 9: More obvious tip wear, I also got a minor chip on the corner of my pinky fingernail but you can't really see it in the picture. By now the re-growth was killing me. Still no peeling/lifting on any of the decals.

Day 10: The final day! Pretty much exactly the same as Day 9. I apologize for the frightening looks of my cuticles in this picture...I almost didn't want to post it lol.I did get a little bit of a lift (finally) on the middle finger of my left hand, again not noticeable in this picture.

Overall, I am impressed. They really did last 10 days! Kudos to Sally Hansen for actually delivering what they say on the package. I cannot tell you if the wear on the non-glitter Salon Effects would be this good, I think the fact that these were so glitter heavy helped them wear  like iron. Even the nails on my right hand were perfect after the entire 10 days, minus minor tip wear & re-growth. That is amazing you guys, seriously. Regular polish usually just pops right off the nails on my right hand after a couple days so this stuff sticking on there for 10 whole days is somewhat of a miracle.

I hope another blogger does a wear test on the Salon Effects that have designs on them instead of glitter. I'd be interested to see if they wear as well as Frock Star. I would volunteer but I think I'd lose my mind if I had to go another 10 days with the same stuff on my nails every single day!

  1. Wow! That's pretty impressive. I'm kind of curious about these but I lack in the patience department... I like the ones that are kind of Minx like.

  2. Awesome. I dont know if I can handle it but I have a drawer full of these things LOL.

  3. I like the name of these, hahaha.

  4. These would be awesome for me! I do a lot of wood/ metal work and just started on clay, so polished don't last ten minutes on me usually, let alone ten days. I wonder how these would last...

  5. Thanks for your experiment with these. Nice to know that a product actually performs as they state. Now, go wear lots of new polishes. ;)

  6. Hey...I love this polish and just actually bought it earlier today but there are only 16 tabs so they can only be used once and for $9.99, thats a little pricey so I'm thinking about returning it. It looks great on you though =)

I would love it if you would follow me, I'm new to the blogging world and am trying to get my footing and get some readers..thanks so much!

  7. Hi there, I tagged you in an award on my blog :) http://nailpolishenthusiast.blogspot.com/2011/01/stylish-blogger-award.html Love this polish by the way, it reminds me of Mad as a Hatter except, you know, slightly less awesome :)

  8. Wow, now that's a whole lot of glitter! Very festive, must be a tragedy to try to take of...

They wore really well on you. I did Laced Up and I only got a good 4-5 days out of them. I am pretty. I bet the glitter ones are slightly thicker and last longer.

    Great post! :)

  10. very pretty glitter! hahah .. glitters tend to last forever on me !! and are so hard to remove =(

  11. I love these Sally Hansen salon effects! I recently did a wear test on the flower power print. It lasted me 14 days!! Which is unheard of with any other polishes! I had a hard time going through the 14 days too because I usually change my polish so often. But for you ladies that love the long wear and no dry time this stuff is great!

  12. I'm on my second pair, the first being Kitty Kitty and this time Blue ice. Kitty kitty lasted a full 7 days before I removed them myself due to too much regrowth. Your first time is hard to know how far down to go. Second time they look amazing although the blue ice is a totally different feeling than kitty kitty. It tore more easily and you had to be very careful when doing the tip. I was able to do both hands with one pack so I have an extra pack for later (which for 9 bucks is a steal)

  13. I did a 7 day test on a L'Oreal Paris nail polish. That almost killed me I can't imagine doing 10 days, well done!

  14. Do you think they still would apply as nice if I were to use a base coat of a coloured polish?
