Today's post is not a pretty one, it's pretty rare that I really don't like a polish but this is probably the biggest disappointment I've had yet. Deborah Lippmann polish is very high end and pricey, I own a few because she does glitter right and I've never seen anything like the ones I own...so in my mind it justifies the price. Glitter In The Air looks amazing in the bottle, I actually did not want this polish at all until I saw it in person. Let's just say I should have followed my gut and passed on this. Glitter In the Air is light pink and light blue hex glitter & small round glitter suspended in a milky light blue base. I decided to layer it since I am not a fan of sheer polish, I put it over a nude beige color...Ulta Sheer Beige.
You guys might like this, different strokes for different folks...but I'm not a fan unfortunately. The glitter payoff wasn't as I hoped it would be. It was hard to get a lot of glitter on the nail and I found that I was having to "place" it where I wanted it. I'm guessing that I might like this better layered over a different color. Unfortunately I think this might be a polish I return or perhaps swap away. :(
I used 3 coats of Glitter In The Air over Ulta Sheer Beige for the pictures below.

has the potential to be beautiful, but yeah...it's not. You're not the first person that's said she's returning it and I don't blame yoU! 18 bucks and I better be happy with my nail polish!
ReplyDeletethat stinks that it didnt have better pay of cause it looks like it would be pretty.
ReplyDeleteWow, how disappointing. It looks delicious in the bottle, but I can't believe it took you 3 coats to achieve what's on your nails. I think the combo you did looks really pretty :) but I wouldn't blame you for taking it back. Boo.
ReplyDeleteSomething about it in the bottle said "fail" to me me. The concept is cool...but it fails. :) Thanks for sharing it with us so we can avoid the purchase.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Funfetti cupcakes. I actually like it but I think I am one of the few that liked Funky Chunky. The odd and the ugly always find a way into my heart.
ReplyDeleteUck, I don't even like this polish in the bottle. I hate milky bases...
ReplyDeletegorgeous colour and effect:)
ReplyDeleteI NEED IT !!!!
ReplyDeleteso beautifull !!
why they don't ship in france ! why ??
It's awful that the glitter was so difficult to work with. I think even if you layered GitA over a blue and it was pretty, the glitter issue would be a dealbreaker. :(
ReplyDeleteWell, you guys are lucky to have the returning option!
ReplyDeleteThis post sums up what I've been thinking about Glitter In The Air. I saw the bottle pictures and it got me drooling all over my keyboard. Swatches - major disappointment. And I mean major. So I completely understand you!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this post! I love that DL polish!
ReplyDeleteDon't blame you...for $18, you shouldn't have to layer to make it look like it does in the bottle. What a letdown!
ReplyDeletetoo bad the payoff sucks... because I think it looks really gorgeous actually... but you're right, 18$ and that's what you get for 3 coats? I can see why you hate it...
ReplyDeleteAt least it looks really cute :)
I guess I am one of the few that likes this! I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed. I do agree that it probably should be more dense, but I think overall it still looks nice. I know paying so much for a polish and not loving it is hard. :(
ReplyDeleteI really love the result on your pics, but when I saw you used 3 coats, and how difficult it was to get glitters ... It looks like this polish sucks :s
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad ...
What a bummer. For that price, I would definitely return it!
ReplyDeleteOf course, I won't hesitate to return a one dollar bottle that lets me down, either. Money wasted is money wasted. *nods wisely*
I would return it. I can't believe that's 3 coats! Definitely not worth the price.
ReplyDeleteUh...not the best. I'd return it too.
ReplyDeleteI really wanted this to be the same result as the bottle pics :(
ReplyDeleteI must admit that I still can't help but love it, even if it takes quite a few layers to obtain enough glitter. I think it's neat that Lippmann doesn't just make one type of glitter, even though they are win it doesn't hurt to try out something new. And even though I love a lot of bling on my nails, a toned down glitter would be perfect for some occasions. I can't wait to try it over China Glaze Sea Spray!
ReplyDeleteI have been so insanely curious to see a swatch of this. It's one of those fugly colors I love but hate at the same time. Not going to fork out 18 bucks on it though. Return it for something else if you hate it!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad some of you like it!
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty but for $18 I expect a heck of a lot more...I would have kept putting more coats on to achieve what I actually wanted it to look like but it started feeling like I was wearing acrylics because my nails looked so thick.
aw it looks great :) I'm loving it :)
ReplyDeleteI saw it layered over OPI What's With the Cattitude? and it looks GORGEOUS! It seriously looks like cotton candy! By itself I'm not the biggest fan, but with a light blue base it comes alive so much more!
ReplyDeleteI think you should try the blue cause you may end up LOVING it. :)
I honestly can't believe you don't love this. You swatch of it makes me want it even more. I think I'm going to have to go get on the DL site and order this one. I love the look of the glitter with the base color.
ReplyDeleteSorry you dont like it though =(
Definitely a disappointment, which is kind of what I expected from bottle pictures. I think the glitter itself is lovely but there should be much much more of it in a different base.
ReplyDeleteI will say that it looks on your nail like it does in the bottle.
ReplyDeleteBut I agree :/ this is the one DL I couldn't get into.
I really like the concept of this, it looks like it could have been so cute. But I agree that it should have had more glitter to it. I myself own a couple of Lippmann nail polishes and I can see why its important to really love a polish that costs so much. I would it a go though, just to see how it would look on my nails.
ReplyDeleteEw. I don't like this either. Too.. milky, I think? Or sheer or something. They missed the mark with this polish for sure.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty but after 3 coats and a $18 purchase,I'm afraid it's not worth it.I'm surprised as you would expect more for that price, thank you for the post x
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that you don't like it. :(
ReplyDeleteAnd if you return it, I would definitely understand. Heck, I'd be in the car RIGHT NOW, driving that thing back from whence it came.
All the swathes I've seen, people are like wetting their pants, and I'm thinking ew that's so ugly. It looks like a baby ate a crapload of funfetti cupcakes and then threw em all up.
I have two DL glitters, and they are some of my favorite polishes in my collection. So she knows how to do glitter, but sometimes, she goes horribly terribly wrong with them. This is one such example. Hopefully your next DL purchase will bring you more happiness! ^_^
Okay, your swatch is one of the few I actually liked of this shade. Maybe there is hope in my falling in love with it after all.
ReplyDeleteI believe for that price, if you don't love it....it's gotta go.
I totally agree with you! The color combo is actually really pretty but that's 3 coats? Not worth it at all. I'd be disappointed with this if I paid $2 for it!
ReplyDeleteI am completely in agreement with you. I'm actually swapping this one away. It might look good layered over RBL Bikini Bottom, but the pink glitter is bugging me a bit. This is SO cute in the bottle though. I have a feeling I might want to buy this again later on because I don't like having holes in my collection - I know that sounds ridiculous, but at this time I am ok to part with it.
ReplyDeleteI really like it, but not for $18; way too much money for just that.
ReplyDeletei think it is so pretty but i think you can do that also with 2 different nail polish
ReplyDeleteanyway, the base color is very nice
http://elenaeris.blogspot.com/
Pretty fug. I'd return it too!
ReplyDeleteI would gladly take this off your hands if you are considering selling it!!!
ReplyDeleteI have plans for that little polish :]
That is too bad...it has so much potential!
ReplyDeletelove the colors on this !!!! sucks that it did not work out for you =(
ReplyDeleteNot at all crazy about this.
ReplyDeleteI swatched this at Nordstrom the other day, and needless to say, I was not impressed. If they were going to make it that sheer, they should have suspended the glitter in a base like in Today was a Fairytale to make a cool topcoat-like polish, instead of some milky base. I layered over Zoya Gloria, and it just liked like sparse glitter in milk... It would probably look better over a nude or white or pale polish that wouldn't show the milkiness of it. It was just a little disappointing.
ReplyDeletereminds of a birthday party for some reason:) It really is crazy the prices they are charging now and the lack of quality we are receiving
