OPI Simply Smash-ing! vs. Sephora by OPI Gleek Out

Good Morning guys! Ugh I am dead today, the concert was SO good last night. New Found Glory played something like 26 songs, including a few that I'd never heard live before. It was great! I'm shocked I can even talk today...or move.  Gary Busey was at the show, still trying to figure out what the heck he was doing there. He walked by and literally everyone where I was standing was like wtf? and we all looked at the each other in disbelief that it was him. Then he walked by again, and yep...it was Gary Busey. Talk about a random "celebrity" sighting. I think it beats seeing Regis at Disneyland a few years ago.

So today I have for you guys a comparison that I promised a little bit ago. Sephora by OPI Gleek Out vs. OPI Simply Smash-ing! which is from the Serena Williams set. Before I had my bottle of Simply Smash-ing I thought these might be dupes. But nope, not the case. Gleek Out is definitely green-yellow and Simply Smash-ing is definitely yellow-green. I really like both, I like weird colors like them...but they aren't for everyone! Similar formula on both, but I did use 1 less coat of Simply Smash-ing, I think it might be due in part to having a regular full sized bottle vs. the small mini bottle of Gleek Out. The little brushes are a pain in the you know what!

I used 2 coats of Simply Smash-ing and 3 coats of Gleek Out for the photos below.

  1. Great comparison, thanks for the heads up :):)

  2. GRRR I still want to get my hands on Simply Smashing! LOL Gary Busey? At a NFG show?! I think my mind exploded. BTW- your nails look awesome here!

  3. i have sImply smashing and i like it. i want the gleek polishes so bad! lol on my to-buy list lol

  4. I think I can justify owning both. Close enough for non polish addicts though.

  5. Thank you for doing this! I wanted Simply Smashing but now I know I like Gleeked Out better, thanks

  6. I thought Simply Smashing looked kinda meh in the promo pics, but I love it on you. It's like a shimmery tennis ball! Thanks for the comparison :)

  7. Great comparison, thanks for doing this!

  8. We are a special group, we nail polish junkies. I suspect a number of our friends and family would be amused by pointing out the difference between yellow-green and green-yellow, but it makes perfect sense to us! Me, I'm in favor of green-yellow.

  9. Thanks for the comp! I haven't swatched my SS yet, and now I feel less motivated to. Have a great wkend hon!

  10. I think these colors would look horrible on me, but I like them on you!! My favorite of these two is Gleek Out. Thanks for the comparison!

  11. Glad you guys all like the comparison!

  12. @Barilla

lol that is the truth! I was trying to explain that to someone who isn't a lacquer head like we are. She was like...sounds the same to me. I gave up trying to describe how green-yellow and yellow-green are not the same!

  13. NFG is my favorite and most-seen band :) I've seen them dozens of times and been a fan since I was 12, which is now 13 years ago lol Where did you see them?

  14. @SayAnythingBrooke

awesome!! They played an all request show at Chain Reaction in Anaheim CA before they went overseas...the venue they played at in tiny, about 250 capacity. It was insane! I've seen them live probably 20 times over the past 10 years and it was by far the most intense/best show I've seen from them!

  15. Wonderful of you to compare the two. I can skip one!

  16. Beautiful! I scored Simply Smashing for free last week because the bottle of Black Shatter in the set was broken, so the girl just gave me SS. I love it and it looks fantastic with the Shatter, which I already had. What collection is Gleek Out from? I don't think I've ever seen it and I'd love to have it.

Gleek Out is from the Glee Collection Sephora by OPI just recently put out! You should still be able to get it in Sephora stores or on their website!
