Today I have for you guys the China Glaze Island Escape Collection for Summer 2011, I've been looking forward to this collection for a while. The promo stuff looked great for it!
First up is 108 Degrees a bright pink packed with micro shimmer. It is gorgeous in the sun and definitely says summer to me! Next time I do a pedicure I'm pretty sure this will be the color going on my toes! The formula was okay, a bit sheer and I had some issues with cuticle dragging. My best advice on this one (and all the rest in this collection) is to let the coats of polish dry completely before starting on the next coat. That isn't something I usually do but these were a bit tricky if you don't do that. I used 3 coats of 108 Degrees for the photo below.
Blue Iguana is a bright blue packed with micro glitter, this one was incredible in the bottle it looked like it had a beautiful purple duochrome but it didn't show on the nail very well and I wasn't able to capture it with my camera. The formula on this one left me a bit disappointed, it looked like it would be more opaque that in was. It was pretty sheer but did build up to be beautiful! I used 4 coats of Blue Iguana for the photo below, but I could still see my nail line when I was out in the bright sun.
Cha Cha Cha is a bright kind of froggy green packed with gold shimmer. I can't think of another way to describe this other than froggy green lol. Initially I hated this one on me, which is unusual for a green but I've really warmed up to it after I wore it for a couple of days. The formula was good on this one, I used 3 coats for the photos below. My main issue here is that Cha Cha Cha showed brush strokes, which I'm not a huge fan of...but the color is great so I can forgive that!

Electric Pineapple is a yellowish green creme. Reminds me of OPI Fiercely Fiona (which I don't own so I can't compare). I thought I was going to hate this since I was not a fan of the OPI but I kinda like this...a lot. It's one of those ugly/pretty shades. It was more flattering on my skin tone than I expected it to be! The formula was also pretty good, it was one of the more opaque polishes in this collection. I used 2 coats of Electric Pineapple for the photo below.
Last up, Senorita Bonita is a gorgeous purple with pink micro glitter. Love this one, I wish I could have better captured it to show it's full beauty! All the photos that showed the fab shimmery glitter were horribly color inaccurate for the purple lol. The formula on this one was a bit sheer, I used 3 coats for the photo below.
Overall, I really like this collection. Some of the formulas let a little to be desired but the color payoff is worth the extra coat of polish. Both the creme polishes are fantastic, probably my 2 favorites of the collection! These should be available in stores and online soon, though I don't know an exact date!

I love Electric Pineapple, 108 Degrees & Papaya Punch..and now Senorita Bonita is growing on me. I definitely want those 4 now, but I think I'll skip Blue Iguana, since it's so sheer, and Cha Cha, I can't say I am loving the green shade. I think I like Zoya Apple better, it's brighter.
ReplyDeleteI've had Senorita Bonita days with this collection, it is so summer, love it!
ReplyDeleteI only really like Cha Cha Cha, others just don't seem that unique
ReplyDeleteI don't care for the cremes but the shimmers are gorgeous! Man...hurry up May!
ReplyDeleteI looove Blue Iguana and 108 Degrees. I have the whole collection but those are the only two I've gotten around to trying so far. Normally I hate seeing my nail line but I actually didn't mind w/ Blue Iguana.
ReplyDeleteI love Papaya Punch, so I'm so happy to hear that it has one of the better formulas! Can't wait to wear this on my toes by the pool!
ReplyDeleteSlurp, slurp! These shades make me want a cool colorful drink!
ReplyDeleteOoo, I love these! :) I think I like 108 degrees, Papaya Punch, and Electric Pinapple the best, though!
ReplyDeleteHmm, I do like these, but they're not really original! China Glaze has had better collections :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I got Senorita Bonita about a month or so ago, I wore it for six days straight. On the sixth day I was admiring how gorgeous it looked in the sun (as I did every time I stepped outside), and walked right into a telephone pole.
ReplyDeleteThat colour really is so pretty it hurts. >_<
i need this collection to be out ASAP!!! i need papaya punch in my life :(
ReplyDeletei received an email from nailogy saying they are expecting this collection around april 19th...so a few more days!!!
Too bad the formula of some colors is so thin, just like the fiji fling collection, o love those shades but it takes forever for them to dry grrrrr
ReplyDeleteThe creams are absolutely wonderful ; I love it. The shimmer are also beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMY fav is Electric pineapple <3
ReplyDeleteI really like china glaze, it's a shame that i don't have very easy access to it. Love it!
ReplyDeleteElectric Pineapple and Papaya punch for the win! Thanks for the swatches!

@Beauty Addict

ReplyDeleteI love the green one too :)
These are so pretty! May have to order these.
ReplyDeleteI've always been an OPI girl but after seeing this post, I might just consider China Glaze.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestions. :D Am looking forward to these particular colours to come out. :D
When are these supposed to come out? I love the sparkly ones and will probably have to get those four!
