The Icing Duo polishes are called Force of Love and Magnetic Attraction. Force of Love is the one that looks dupey to Across The Universe. Once getting them on they are not dupes, but they are close enough that it could kill the lemming for some people. The main difference is the amount of small silver glitter in the Icing polish, other than that not much is different looks wise. The formula on Across The Universe is about a zillion times better but I think a drop or 2 of thinner would help the Icing polish out in that department.
I used 2 coats of each polish over Mac Spirit Of Truth which is the dark navy blue that came out with Mac's Wonder Woman collection.
This is what the Icing duo looks like, it retails for $7.50 but much like Claire's, Icing always has their polish buy 1 get 1 50% off so I didn't actually pay $7.50 for it. The bottle is pretty small but the other glitter polish it comes with is pretty also! As far as I know you can only buy these polishes in store, I don't know anywhere online that sells them!

Wow those Claire's polishes are great! I'm a huge Lippmann fan but now I want to try the Claire's ones!
ReplyDeleteAw...they look pretty close.
ReplyDeleteIs it a polish from Claire's or a polish from Icing, and how can we find out where our nearest store is?
ReplyDelete@Painting Rainbows
ReplyDeleteIt's from Icing. They probably have a store locater on their website :) They seem to be in all the malls around here
@Lacquered Lover
ReplyDeleteThis one is from Icing! Practically the same store as Icing but they have their own polishes :)
Really close dupe! I wouldn't be able to tell the difference without the side by side comparison
ReplyDeleteofficially going to icing on thursday after work!
ReplyDeletei wonder if canadian icing's will have it.
@rebecca
ReplyDeleteI'll keep my fingers crossed for you, I hope you can find it!
They look so much alike!
ReplyDeleteBut now I'm curious about those Charlie Sheen polishes!
;***
WOW that's pretty wild, I'd say that's a great alternative to Across the Universe!
ReplyDeletewow those 2 are pretty close i like the duos as well, i'll have to try them out!
ReplyDeleteWow these are quite similar apart from the silver glitter!
ReplyDeleteI almost bought this today but didn't because when I shook the bottles I looked at, the polish looked like it was clumped together. I was afraid they would be a thick, clumpy mess. It doesn't look like you had that problem though. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure this is an exact dupe . They're both very gorgeous .
ReplyDelete@Nail Polish Anthology
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty thick, but my bottle wasn't too bad. I'll probably add some thinner to it before I use it again. There were a couple other bottles that looked pretty crusty and like what you are describing. Hopefully you can find a good bottle!
hmmm great formula (dl) vs more vibrant colour (icing) - what a dilemma! i'd go for more vibrant colour lol :D
ReplyDeleteOMG I have to look for this the next time I'm at a mall that has an Icing. My little po dunk local mall doesn't have one! :(
ReplyDeleteI am lemming this one so hard right now to kill my lemming for Across the Universe! Thanks for the comp!!
That is going to make a lot of people very happy!
ReplyDeleteDamn near dupe-able. I need to stop in at Icing because I do love their polishes. And I thought the 'Tiger Blood' was just a coincident. Now I really need them!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comparison. You always seem to find cheaper alternatives to pricier polishes like DL which I'm sure are great but not always within everyone's budget. Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteThat looks exactly the same (duh moment, you obviously know that!) but that is awesome. If only I had an Icing near me... boo! :D
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! Deborah Lippmann always does such gorgeous polishes :)
ReplyDeleteoh wow!! the dupes are pretty similiar! :) great option to save some money :P
ReplyDeletethe glitter for both are different right? O: ATU is blue which makes it looks like it gives the polish more 'depth' while Icing's silver, or is it just cause of the photos > < either ways, they seem so much like a dupe!
ReplyDeleteBoth are gorgeous - and so close, this will satisfy a lot of folks! What a great find, Jen!
ReplyDeleteThat is identical, its so weird how companies can get away with making pretty much the same polish. Iv got let me go by sinful colours and a Nubar one identical! Plus I love the mix of tiny glitter and giant glitter xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comparison! I hope I can get my hands on this before it disappears...
ReplyDeleteAwesome comparison, they do look a lot alike!
ReplyDeleteOMG this is awesome! Good thing I work right next door to the mall!
ReplyDeleteI remember when someone posted about this on NB, but your pics are way clearer! It definitely seems like the dupe's small glitter is too dense. The silver stands out a lot more than the little blue and green glitter in AtU though...
ReplyDeleteThe other end looks like Revlon Galaxy.
Good comp!
This really does look like a dupe, shame I can't find anywhere that stocks it in the UK. Even in our Claires! x
