Island Girl Kahala Breeze & Island Girl Waikiki Sunset

Good Morning guys! Today I have for you a couple more polishes from my Island Girl haul from Vegas!

Kahala Breeze is a gorgeous light blue with blue shimmer. This was probably one of my favorites in the bottle, but omg it was SO sheer. I used 4 coats for the photos below and still wasn't thrilled with how opaque it looked. I think this one will need some underwear next time I wear it!

Since I wasn't happy with the opacity on Kahala Breeze I decided to put Waikiki Sunset over it. Waikiki Sunset is awesome! It has silver hex glitter and small blue glitter in a clear base. I think you could probably get this to build up if you wanted to wear it on it's own. I really love it over Kahala Breeze! I used 2 coats over Kahala Breeze for the photos below!

Island Girl can be purchased at ABC Stores in Las Vegas and Hawaii. They also have a very limited amount of shades on their website ABCStores.com I'm not sure if either of these shades are ones that they sell online.

OPI Miss Universe Collection Comparisions

Good Morning guys! Today I have for you a few comparisons for the Miss Universe Collection polishes. If there are any others you want to see let me know, I'm happy to do them as long as I have the polish you want to see them compared with!

First up is It's My Year vs. Rally Pretty Pink (aka Zoya Faye). They looked so similar in the promo pics, even somewhat in the bottles. Once I got them on and next to each other the difference really comes out. Rally Pretty Pink is more of a pinkish muave and It's My Year is much more purple. I used 3 coats of each for the photos below

This one was requested in the comments of Miss Universe Collection Swatches post. It's My Year (3 coats) vs Zoya Dannii. For some reason I swapped away my actual bottle of Dannii so here is a comparison next to one of those color spoon board thingy's that Zoya likes to put in the box when you order from them. Again, not dupes...the purple base colors in these 2 are a bit different and Dannii doesn't have as much shimmer!

Next up, Congeniality Is My Middle Name vs. The One That Got Away from the Katy Perry Collection. These are actually pretty close, if you have one I don't think you really need the other. They have the same finish and shimmer, the only difference is that Congeniality has a touch more purple in the base color, it was a little bit more noticeable in real life than in the photos but even then the difference was a slight one. I used 2 coats of each polish for these photos.

Here is a bottle shot comparison of Congeniality Is My Middle Name vs. Be A Dahlia Won't You? This was a requested one in the comments of the last post! Be A Dahlia is much more of a hot pink!

Last up Crown Me Already vs. Spark De Triomphe, I decided to just do a bottle pic for this one also since they aren't that close. I figured people might want to see just how different they are!

Deborah Lippmann Holiday 2011 Preview!

Hi guys, wanted to share this with you! These will be available in a set for Nordstroms Anniversary sale this year and should be available individually from Deborah Lippmann's official website sometime later this year!

Just in time for the holiday season,
Deborah Lippmann Gets the Party started

Nothing says ‘Party’ like the magnetic sparkle of glitter. So for the biggest party season of the year, I’ve created shades that truly dazzle. Get This Party Started, a set of three glitters, was inspired by the overwhelming demand for my best selling Happy  Birthday, a glittery party in a bottle. The set includes Happy Birthday, along with two new variations of the sparkling shade: Forget You and Candy Shop. They’re both packed with the same unique hexagon-shaped glitter that gives Happy Birthday its magnificent glint, only Forget You has a sheer black base and Candy Shop a bubblegum pink.

I love how festive all three look and feel, whether wrapped a round a champagne glass or peeping out of a glamorous pump. But what I truly love the most: how a few coats of any shade instantly transform you into the life of the party.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: a party in a bottle (glitter)
FORGET YOU: party all night (glitter)
CANDY SHOP: bubblegum pink (glitter)

This mani is awesomesauce!

Good Morning guys! Hope you all had a good night! Sorry for the lammmmmme title, I couldn't think of what to call this post! Today I have for you guys another splatter mani, you tired of these yet? This one is by far my favorite, I don't know that I could do anything to top this.

CND Effects are probably some of my favorite polishes I own...this manicure is the exact reason why I love them so much. I had the idea for this combo running around in  my head for a few weeks but was scared to do it because I was worried it would be a HUGE fail, I was wrong! I don't even know how to describe this mani...it looks like one of those pictures you see of galaxies reallllly far away...but way more awesome! I wish a company would bottle something like this up and sell it, something that flashes ALL of the colors that I got here. Maybe CND can mix all of these effects together and make like a super effect or something lol! I used OPI Black Onyx as the base. The splatter is CND Sapphire Sparkle, CND Teal Sparkle, CND Crimson Sparkle and CND Amethyst Sparkle.

All of the effects should be easy to find online with the exception of Teal Sparkle since it was an LE effect with the Urban Oasis duo. Also, I updated the tutorial post with some info about the straws I use to do these mani's. I got a lot of questions about them! There is a link to the tutorial over in the sidebar!

This post is pretty pic heavy, I loved all the pictures too much to get rid of very many of them lol!

OPI Miss Universe Collection Swatches!

Hi guys! Hope you all had a good day! I was having a bad day then I wandered over to Makeup Alley and saw someone saying that they had found the Miss Universe Collection at my favorite local store...Planet Beauty. Of course I had to run right out to my closest Planet Beauty store to see if I would also be lucky enough to find it there...I was! If you live in So Cal and have a Planet Beauty near you and want these go check there...if you do find them you're in luck because OPI is Buy 3 get 1 Free so you get it early and for a good price! I've yet to see this collection anywhere else locally (even the places that typically get collections before the "big" stores). As far as I know this collection is *supposed* to be in stores in August, hopefully it starts making an appearance everywhere else sooner than that.

First up is It's My Year, a yummy purple with a golden shimmer. I will be first to admit I thought this would be a dupe of Rally Pretty Pink based off the bottle shot we had seen of it, but it's not...it's way more purple. I will have a comparison up either tomorrow or Wednesday of the 2. The formula was great, I used 3 coats for full opacity!

Congeniality Is My Middle Name is a jelly-ish berry base with purple and pink microglitter/shimmer (whatever you want to call it!). It wasn't sheer like a jelly but it does look a little squishy on, which I love! Gotta say, I do love this one, but it's pretty similar to The One That Got Away from the Katy Perry Collection...I will have a comparison of those also in the next couple of days. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Close Up!

Swimsuit...Nailed It! is a freakin' amazing electric blue foil. Easily my favorite of this collection. I wasn't expecting it to look like this from looking at the bottle! The formula was fantastic, a careful 1 coater if you tend to use thicker coats. I used 2 coats for these photos. If there is a dupe for this I don't have it in my collection!

Last up is Crown Me Already which is small round silver glitter and large hex silver glitter in a clear base. This is pretty dense and builds up easily, it would be a great layering polish also! This is actually what I expected Spark De Triomphe from Serena Williams to be haha! I do love this, my camera however had issues dealing with how sparkletastic it is and these were the only non-blurry photos I got of it. I used 3 coats of Crown Me Already for the photos below.

Close Up, Shade!

Island Girl Tropical Breeze

Good Morning guys! So what did we think of True Blood last night? I am kinda meh about it, it was good and I'm glad it's back but they jumped like a year in time and there are SO many new people...I was pretty confused for most of the episode lol! Looks like next week should be good though!

Today I have for you guys one of the Island Girl polishes I picked up in Vegas. This one is called Tropical Breeze. It is a neon orangey pink with a purple/blue flash...pretty much amazing. This looked a lot moew orange in the store and in my room until I got outside and then BAM pink! The formula was actually pretty good. I only needed 2 coats for full opacity, then my stupid Seche Vite decided to leave little black specks all over it so I added a 3 coat and different top coat. Since this is a neon it did dry matte! I don't *think* I have anything very similar to this in my stash but I'll have to look!

SpaRitual Chill

Hi guys! Who's excited for True Blood tonight? Meeeeee! I need some Eric Northman in my life, I can't wait for the show! My Sunday's never feel complete if I don't have True Blood or Dexter to watch!

Today I have for you guys SpaRitual Chill, I don't own a whole lot of SpaRitual polishes but I recently picked up a few from Apothica.com I love the little mini bottles from them...they are so cute! I'm not usually a fan of mini bottles but the brush in these wasn't too bad. I really love the color also, it's a periwinkle that leans towards purple. The formula was a bit thin, I needed 3 coats for full opacity but it's worth it!

Wet n Wild Waves of Enchantment vs. Zoya Rica

Good Morning guys! Hopefully everyone's weekend is starting out well! I'm waiting for VW to finish fixing up my car, I had to take it in for the 30,000 mile service. If you follow me on twitter you might have seen me talking about a warning light that has been on for months about some outside light being out on my car. No one in my family could figure out which light it was that was supposedly out, so hopefully the guys at the dealership can figure it out! I am really looking forward to finding out what was out!

Today I have for you guys a comparison! Wet n Wild Waves of Enchantment is pretty much the only polish from the Mermaids Cove collection that I was hearing a lot about, there was a lot of talk of it being a close dupe of Zoya Rica from the Sunshine collection. I actually don't think they are *that* close. Definitely in the same color family, the Wet n Wild polish looks like it would fit in perfectly with the Sunshine collection! Rica seems to be a bit darker and more of a coral pink. In the shade they were much closer in color. If you can't find the Mermaids Cove collection (like me and 98% of everyone else) then Rica is a great alternative. I don't think you really need both. I prefer the Zoya, I like the brush and formula a little better...but the Wet n Wild is a lot cheaper!

I used 3 coats of each polish for the photos below.

Summer Must-Haves Planet Beauty Giveaway!

Good Morning guys! Today I have a giveaway for you woohoo! I'm partnering up with a fabulous So Cal store that you have probably seen me talking about here every now and then called Planet Beauty. I shop there A LOT, their stores carry a great selection of polish including OPI, Zoya, Essie, Butter London and Deborah Lippmann. In addition to polish they also sell everything from makeup to hair care products! Whenever I go into the store by my work I always end up chatting with the girls there about nail polish, I love shopping places like that where everyone is friendly!

Alright so this giveaway prize is pretty awesome, Erin from Planet Beauty has put together a great bag of goodies that are perfect for summer! I am officially jealous of the lucky winner! The gift bag will contain a bunch of awesome stuff including the polishes I have pictured below, a super cute OPI mini set (seriously, it's adorable and one will be coming to Cosmoprof with me in July). In addition to polish the winner will also get a lip gloss set from Smashbox,  a lip gloss from Lip Fusion, Sebastian conditioner, and more! The total value of the gift bag is over $100 and everything will be put in the super cute bag I have a picture of below!

Keep reading to find out how to enter and to see the awesome polishes the winner will get!

The theme of this giveaway is summer and the polishes included in the giftbag are all wonderful shades perfect for summer!

First up is Do You Lilac It? which is a great lavender, beautiful for every season but especially for summer! It's also nice an opaque in 2 coats!

Green-wich Village is a gorgeous bright green. I call greens like this froggy green. I've never actually seen a frog that looks like this but in my brain this is the color they are haha! Anyway, this green is perfection, and it looks kinda squishy like a jelly! I used 3 coats for the photo below

Next up is Need Sunglasses? Nothing is more summer than a yellow! This is one of my favorites, it isn't as in your face as a neon but it still bright...it's like the perfect sunny yellow. The formula on this one can be a little tricky...but I think that just comes with the territory when dealing with yellow. I used 3 coats for the photo below

Pink Flamenco is a yummy bright pink. Polishes like this make me wonder why I ever disliked pink, it's gorgeous! I used 2 coats for the photo below.

Last up is Big Hair...Big Nails. I know you guys know this beauty, it's one of the awesomesauce sorbet polishes from the Spring Texas Collection. I'm obsessed with these, I'm a big fan of jelly polishes! Sorry about using the older photo, I did swatch it again but I liked this photo better than any of the new ones I took!
