Wet n Wild Mermaids Cove Collection Swatches!

Hi guys! I decided to put this post up today since a couple of you commented about the Mermaids Cove Collection in the Nicole by OPI Textured post from this morning!

I was really hesitant to swatch and post this collection, it seems to be impossible to find. I don't know what is going on with Wet n Wild this year but I have a serious bone to pick with them about none of the LE polish collections making it here. I actually emailed Wet n Wild asking what the heck was going on, and they replied that I would have to ask the actual stores because apparently they don't track their own products. Seems like a weird way to do business but whatever that's just my 2 cents ;)

I have yet to see Mermaids Cove locally, the lovely Shelley from http://www.polarbelle.com/ found the display where she lives and picked up a set for me...she rules! I hope that you guys CAN find these if you want them. I think I might drop dead from shock if I ever find the display in So Cal.

First up is Sea of Dreams, a purplish pink shimmer. Love this one but it went on pretty sheer. I used 3 coats for this photo but would probably use another unless I was putting something else on top of it (like a crack polish!)

Diving for Pearls is a green toned blue full of shimmery goodness, I LOVE this one. It screams summer to me! Again, pretty sheer I used 3 coats for the photo below

Ocean Grotto is a green and gold micro glitter, it has a bit of a foil-y finish to it. I used  3 coats for the photos below

Please ignore the pink flash in the bottle, it's my camera ( sure has been causing me trouble this week, ugh!)
Shade

Sun

Atlantis is pink and silver glitter in a clear base. You can build this up but I was having some problems with there being bald spots to I layered  3 coats of Atlantis over BB Couture Paradise

Sea Witch is my absolute favorite of this collection, if I ever find it in person I will probably buy a back up. It is a gorgeous blue with a stunning blue shimmer! Reminds me of Orly Royal Velvet but I'm not sure if they are dupes or not, it's on my list to compare! I used 2 coats of Sea Witch for the photos below.

Stream of Wonder is a bright blue shimmer. Same formula as the other 2 polishes like this, sheer. I used 3 coats for the photo below

Waves of Enchantment is a gorgeous pink with a golden shimmer. This is probably the polish I have heard the most about from this collection. There is some talk about it being a close dupe of Zoya Rica. They are close, but not exact dupes. This would definitely have fit nicely into the Sunshine Collection from Zoya. I will have the comparison of Rica and Waves of Enchantment up in the next couple of days! I used 3 coats for the photo below.

Magic Trident is a bright orange with a golden shimmer. Not the most unique polish ever but I love a good orange and this one is gorgeous! Again a sheer formula (what's up with all the sheer?!?) I used 3 coats for the photo below.

Big thanks again to Shelley for finding this and picking me up a set!

unfortunately, nope they aren't even a little similar :(

I hope you can find it too!

  3. I think Sea Witch would probably be very very similar if not a dupe for Eggplant Frost from the Wet Shine line. WOE is gorgeous though!

  4. They look nice and the pictures are gorgeous as always, but thankfully, I'm not overly digging any of them, because you're right. WnW is becoming the next Sally Hansen and no me gusta. I'm tired of walking all over creation just to find their stuff. ugh.

  5. @ChaosButterfly i agree. the only one i'm in love with is waves of enchantment and it's basically a dupe of rica so i don't really need it.

    great swatches Jen :)

  6. Oooh I really like Wave of Enchantment- I hope I can find this collection as well!

  7. Seeing your swatches, Waves of Enchantment is really the only one I *need.*
Is Sea Witch a dupe for the WnW core Eggplant Frost? It looks really close. I think it's a speed dry one... I"ll have to check. Thanks for the great swatches!

dude I know right! These seem to be harder to find than Sally Hansen LE's. I went to A LOT of stores looking for Hidden Treasure but the hunt for this collection is like 500 times worse and I never did find it!

I don't have Eggplant Frost so I'm not sure how they compare. Next time I'm in a drugstore I'll have to see if I can find it to see if they are close!

  11. They are pretty and I would snap them up in a heartbeat, if they actually even landed locally. Which I seriously doubt they will.

W-n-W is getting ridiculous with the LE collections also being almost impossible to find and buy. I have this problem with their products, both polishes and makeup and it is about to piss me off to the point that I will no longer buy any Wet-N-Wild products, at all. I don't need the aggravation. Their stuff is nice but hell, it is hardly worth all the searching and angst.

big AMEN to everything you said. I haven't found a LE collection from them since late last year. I wish they would sell online, it would save us all aggravation and they would make tons of $$$

  14. Jiminy crickets! What an amazing collection! I can't believe I just picked up the one. I'm going CVS right now! But I don't think the one closest to me has them. Fingers crossed!

  15. WnW relabels quite a bit.

See Witch is a relabel of Eggplant Frost

One of the blue/green frost is a relabel of Caribbean Frost. Can't be sure w/o a comp.

The winner is Waves of Enchantment! Nice!

  16. These are so pretty...I am having a tough time finding the new WNW gilded age palettes as well. Wish you could purchase WNW online.

  19. Sea Witch is pretty - but like the rest of the collection, it's been done a ton - cheap brands and more mid priced ones. I guess there is always going to be a market for these no matter the shades just because of the price point. Oh and you are right - none of the W&W ltd ed are getting to the average drugstore markets. I never see any of the displays or them lumped in with the reg. collection. Makes me think that due to recession, high level of shoplifting maybe of these items just are rejected by the drugstore/market buyers. Especially now that Essie has hit. Having a really well selling $8/bottle polish at the local drugstore means a lot more profit for the retailer esp when few go into those places and leave with only a polish - most are in there for something else and pick up a bottle or 2 of polish while in there. Retailers are going to make more room for the $8 bottles over the $1.99 ones.

  20. These wretched polishes haven't been found here in FL either. And they'd just HAVE to be pretty, wouldn't they?? :/ Grrrr.... However, you are rockin' them!

  21. I have to go try and see if my drugstores have it. But I'm lazy and part of it is knowing that they probably won't have it. LOL!

  22. I'm having that problem with the new Sinful Colors collection, the semi-dupes of the Pirates of the Caribbean from O.P.I. I've been to five Walgreen's in the last 2 days they all have a 4th of July set with matching stripers, some island collection that isn't the dupe collection, and some collection that urges me to "get my swirl on". The only places I can really find WnW is at Wal Mart and Walgreen's, and they only carry a very limited selection, like maybe 12-15 polishes. My local CVS (they are relatively new to St. Louis, so not many of them here yet) barely carries the WnW polish, they have lots of the makeup, but very few of the polishes, and the few they do have already have 50% clearance stickers on them. It gets so frustrating burning more gas to try and find these lower priced collections than I'm actually going to spend on the polish when/if I do find them lol.

  23. I saw theseinmy local pathmark about two months ago but all they had left was ocean grotto which improbably my least favorite of them all.

  24. These are pissing me off so much! I looked for them at Rite Aid, Walgreens, and CVS with no luck. I've been to Walgreens twice in the past 2 weeks looking for them. I hope they show up in more local drugstores so more of us can get them.
They are so gorgeous, it makes me want to cry!!

  25. Seawitch is EXACTLY the same as Eggplant Frost from the core line.. I didn't reallyyyyyy mind, since I wanted a backup anyway, so whatever :]

  26. The collection is lovely but the real stand outs for me are def. Sea Witch and diving for pearls. I love the richness of both of those shades! Excellent post and photographs (as always!)

  27. These are all beautiful but I'm glad I haven't fallen in love with any of them due to the supply issues you mentioned. Lovely pictures. :)

  28. I had no idea these were so hard to find. :(
Beachgal's theory makes a lot of sense, but in this economy the higher priced drugstore polishes aren't really moving @ my local CVS. Really nice swatches though.

  29. I'm in SoCal too and I haven't seen them either.

  30. Your nails look GORGEOUS! And I've been looking for this collection and can't find it...weird that they don't track their products =P

  35. Atlantis, Ocean Grotto and Waves of Enchantment are definitely my fav's! Too bad we can't get any of this here.

  36. the grotto one reminds me of OPI simply smashing!

  37. Holy Cow! After searching for weeks I FINALLY found this collection at a small Dunae Reade in NYC. I was sp giddy that I wanted to jump up and down. Just when I had given up all hope I falls right in my lap.
