Cosmoprof Day 1: China Glaze, Essie, OPI & Orly previews!

Hi guys!! Hope you are all having a fantastical weekend, I sure am! Today was the first day of Cosmprof North America. Cosmoprof is basically like heaven...I wish I could live there haha! It was rows of different brands, some that we all know of and some that I had never heard of. I have a few previews for you guys of some of what we'll see from China Glaze, Orly, OPI and Essie!

First stop of the day was at China Glaze, Krystal from Polish Galore hauled butt over there! They had out a bunch of new stuff out! If you follow me on twitter you probably saw a pic of some of them! I have nail wheels of a couple of these that I did not include pictures of...the crap lighting in my room is not doing them favors. I'll post accurate pics of them on Tuesday when I get home!

First up is Electropop this is China Glaze's Spring 2012 Collection! The colors in my opinion weren't all the unique. I think Kellie from Also Known As said they reminded her of the Up and Away Collection, I tend to agree with her. I am looking forward to seeing them on though!

Next up is the Eye Candy 3-D Glitters, these are part of China Glaze Holiday, and will be out in November! These are INSANE, like crazy awesome in person. I will need them all lol!

You might have seen this already, this is China Glaze Halloween 2011! I'm so SO excited for the glow in the dark!

You might have also seen these before, in person they were awesome! This is the Winter Collection called Let It Snow!

After a while of roaming I met up with the fabulous Kellie from Also Known As! We roamed around together and finally came across the Essie booth. You guys...Essie's Winter and Holiday collection are AWESOME!!

Cocktail Bling is Essie's Winter Collection. The names of these polishes were too cute. I have them somewhere but my room is looking like a tornado ran through it and I can't find the brochure right now.

Luxeffects is 1 of Essie's Holiday Collections. They also have another 6 piece collection coming out with re-promotes of some of the classic shades like Sexy Divide along with 3 polishes that were previously only available in their retail line of polish, those 3 are Dive Bar, Jamaican Me Crazy and Trophy Wife. So the exciting half of holiday is the Luxeffects below. I might have let out a little squeal of excitement when Essie's marketing rep was showing Kellie and I these. You guys...3rd from the left is  a FLAKIE!! If I could have gotten away with stealing something from Cosmoprof it would have been a bottle of that!

Next up Kellie and I begged our way into the OPI booth, literally. It was by appointment only but we groveled our way in lol! Can I say I am so happy we did...we met SUZI!! ahhhh yes, THE SUZI! I  was all cray cray fangirl and I'm sure she thought I was nuts but whatevs she is a nail polish rock star! haha

Guess what I was most excited to see? Muppets DUH! Funny story, I'm staying at planet hollywood and each room has memorabilia from a different movie. Mine is a Muppets room, I think it was fate lol. In person, the glitters....AWESOME! Also awesome was the one named after Fozzie which is a shimmer, it was this epic looking duochrome. I need it in my life ASAP!

They also had a new Serena set out, check out that orange-y pink! The red was also awesome, which didn't translate into my picture but you guys will love it!

Not pictured from OPI (since my camera decided to be a piece of crap) We will be seeing a gold shatter from OPI soon, they also had out the Pink Shatter for Breast Cancer, it looks gorgeous! A nice hot pink!

Last up is Orly. I was a little disappointed by their booth. They didn't have their fall collection out, I really wanted to see that in person. Fortunately they did have their holiday collection out, most of it seems passable to me...two of the shades are dupes of OPI colors. However, Andrognie ZOMG I can't even make words for how awesome it looks! Check out the bottle shot below!

Here is the whole display!

That's it for today, hopefully tomorrow I'll have fun Deborah Lippmann, Color Club and Zoya things to share. Right now I'm getting ready to go out to dinner with Katie from The Painted Nail. She was at the Nubar booth, I kind of love her. She is a riot!

Have a good night everyone!

Color Club Shabby Drab vs. Zoya Caitlin

Good Morning! Happy Friday!! Just wanted to let you guys know posting for the next 4 or 5 days might be kind of crazy or non-existent. Tomorrow morning I'm heading out to Las Vegas for Cosmoprof North America until Tuesday! I'm beyond excited, mostly because there are going to be a bunch of bloggers there and I kind of can't believe I get to meet some of these ladies. There is also some really super awesome stuff planned that I'll share about as it happens! I'm sure I'll be tweeting about all of it so if you want to know what's going on and don't already follow my on twitter what are you waiting for? My twitter is ThePolishAholic

Alright so today I have a comparison for you, it was requested in the Color Club Back to Boho Collection post. Shabby Drab and Zoya Caitlin are definitely in the same family, if you liked Caitlin you will definitely like Shabby Drab! Both are dusty periwinkle shades, but Caitlin is a couple shades darker. Other than that not much difference color wise. Caitlin is a bit more opaque, I only need 2 coats of it versus the 3 I need with Shabby Drab. Overall I like them both!

Tuff Scent Believe & Explore

Good Morning guys, today I have a brand you might not know about. Until a week ago I hadn't heard of them either. I was going through the blogs I read last Thursday and saw Nouveau Cheap talking about a brand called Tuff Scent relaunching their scented polish. I was intrigued because the bottle pictures looked insane, and the scents are not your standard ones like sugary cherry, grape, apple etc. Tuff Scent polishes  smell like all sorts of awesome things, everything from Cinnamon to Pineapple Kiwi to Spearmint.

The polishes come in a variety of shades...work safe colors, crazy glitters and even clear polish if you want to use it as a top coat over the mani you already have on. How cool is that? I can't say that I have ever seen a scented clear polish before, especially not any that smell like Rose or Wisteria Flower. Hell I don't even know what a Wisteria Flower is but I sure would like a clear polish that smells like it haha!

Alright so after I saw Nouveau Cheap's post I hauled booty over to the Tuff Scent website and agonized over what I wanted to buy. It was tough, they have a lot of gorgeous shades and interesting scents. I decided on Explore. In the picture Explore looked like a black base with silver glitter, plus it smells like Plumeria...I love Plumerias (I even have plumeria flowers tattooed on me!)!  I was surprised when I got it and it wasn't silver glitter in a black base...it's black and silver glitter in a clear base! Black glitter that smells yummy, heck yeah! The formula was just okay, it was a little tricky because there is some sparse chunky black glitter mixed in...you can't really see it in my pictures but it's kind of rectangle shaped. I don't think I've seen anything quite like it. I had some issues with all the other glitter wanting to get stuck on those chunky pieces but overall I really like the look! Explore dried a little dull so I put a top coat over it, it didn't kill the scent!

This does smell like Plumeria's!! I was kind of worried that they might not smell like they said they would but they do. The smell is strong but not overpowering, kind of just smells like I put some plumeria body spray on! I used 2 coats of Explore over Color Club Shabby Drab. You probably could get this to be opaque but I like the little hint of periwinkle peaking out!

When I got my package I was surprised to find a little something extra in there, Tuff Scent added an extra polish. How nice is that?!? The one they included is Believe which smells like Jasmine and is a gorgeous hot pink shimmer! The formula on this was great, 2 easy coats for full coverage! I should mention that the brush in these polishes is a little odd, the cap is tiny and the brush is kinda long. I put a photo of it down at the bottom of the post. It was hard to control at first but I got the hang of it pretty quickly! Believe is definitely not the most unique color ever, but I'm positive I don't have one that looks like it and smells like Jasmine so it wins over any other similar pink I own.  I used 2 coats of Believe for the photos below.

I wanted to include a couple pics of the packaging because it's cute and unique! The back has a nice little inspirational saying kind thing on it. On the bottom there is a sticker that says what the scent is!

The cap of the bottle is to die for, so cute! It's a pewter colored metal-ish cap shaped like a rose. I love it!

And finally here is the brush, I put it next to an Essie brush just for the sake of showing the size.

Tuff Scent polish can be purchased at http://tuffscent.com/ each polish retails for $14. They are a little pricey but worth it in my opinion, where else can you get great colors with unusual scents that actually smell good?!? Good news, they do ship internationally, it always bums me out when I post about something I love then it's US only...I'm so glad that's not the case with these! Also, shipping in the US is FREE, that helps take the sting out of the $14 price tag I think!

So what do you guys think of Tuff Scent polish, do you love it as much as I do?

Nubar Reclaim

Good Morning guys!!

Today I have for you Nubar Reclaim, I swatched this a long time ago but the pictures weren't that great so I've been meaning to re-swatch it for a while now. I finally got around to it! Reclaim is probably my personal favorite Nubar polish...they mushed up two of my favorite things after all, green and holo! The formula is fantastic, and not hard to apply at all! Pretty much this polish is awesomesauce, I may or may not have 2 bottles of it. I used 2 coats for the photos below. It is a bit more holo-tastic in real life! I wish Nubar would make this in every color!

These nails are badass...

Good Morning guys!! Today I have for you what I ended up doing with yesterday's Milani Yellow Whiz manicure. If you're wondering about the title of this post I named it that because one of the guys at work just came over to my desk and told my nails were badass, lol. Apparently boys approve of splatter!

I was kinda going for a bee look with this splatter. I really like bees...not like actual real live ones though...is that weird? When Degen was a puppy I dressed him as a bee for Halloween and bee has been his nickname ever since, I even have a bee tattoo because of it haha! I'm always trying to do some kind of bee nail stuff but I fail at nail art so trying to make stripes or anything like just never seems to work out for me. This does remind me of bees...very abstract ones lol. I used Milani Yellow Whiz as the base and then splattered away with OPI Black Onyx!

Milani Yellow Whiz

Good Morning guys!  Happy Monday? Question mark because well, it's Monday I'm not sure if it's happy yet. I think I'm still partially asleep haha! Hope you all had a great weekend, I did!

Today I have for you guys Milani Yellow Whiz. Let's face it, I bought this purely because the name made me lol. It helped that it's a pretty yellow but with a name like Yellow Whiz I would have bought it regardless of the shade of yellow! Yellow Whiz is a bright sunny yellow, not neon...but really like the perfect sunny yellow. I do have shades like this already but I love a good yellow so I don't mind. The formula on this wasn't as bad a lot of a other yellows, it was a little streaky but I applied it a little bit thick to hopefully get rid of that problem and it worked. My only issue here, the bottle says "high speed fast dry" this my dears...is a lie. Even after about 15 minutes this was tacky to the touch. I finally gave up on it and put a coat of Seche over it so I could leave the house. I used 2 coats of Yellow Whiz for the photo below!

This is how I do nude polish...

Good Morning, happy Friday wooohooo! Anyone have any fun plans this weekend?  I think I'm going to get my hair cut tomorrow. No idea what the heck I want to do with it I just know I want something different!

Alright, something a little different today. I'm kinda burned out on color. In case you didn't notice I posted roughly a bazillion swatches this week (okay maybe not a bazillion, but a lot!). I needed a palette cleaner I guess, so I went nude-ish. Mani's like these are almost my favorite. They look so crisp and classic but are still fun to look at. I started out with a base of BB Couture Paradise. I got this in a blog sale a little while back and it's so pretty! It's kind of a chameleon, at first I thought it was a pink/white but the more I wear it the more it looks like a pink/beige...whatever it is I approve haha! There is a subtle shimmer in the bottle but it doesn't transfer onto the nail. I've worn this before and hadn't had problems with the formula but we had some issues this time so I needed 3 coats :(

Over Paradise I put on of my favorite flakies, Maybelline Colorama flakies in Blazes of Crystal. I like these flakies because they flash all the colors of the rainbow. A lot of the newer flakies only seem to flash like 3 colors. You could get a similar look to this using something like Nubar 2010 or any of the Inglot flakies, they just wouldn't flash all the same colors!

A different shady spot, it makes my skin look all yellow-ish but look at the flakies!!

Deborah Lippmann Candy Shop & Forget You Swatches!

Good Morning guys! Today I have for you guys swatches of Deborah Lippmann's Candy Shop and Forget You from the Get This Party Started Trio currently available at Nordstroms Anniversary Sale. Originally I wasn't going to get this, I couldn't justify the $42 price tag. Then I got a $20 reward certificate thing in the mail from Nordstroms and decided that I could justify a $22 price tag for it so here I am now with the set lol.

The trio contains the ever popular Happy Birthday which I already own and you can see here. It also has 2 new shades, Candy Shop and Forget You which are basically fun new variations of Happy Birthday!

Candy Shop is a bubble gum pink base with loads of glitter mixed in. A see a ton of color, both hex glitter and small round glitter. I really love how this looks, I was actually surprised by how much I liked it! The bubblegum pink is SO fun! A while back I was talking to Kellie from Also Known As about this shade (might have been someone else but I'm pretty sure it was Kellie lol). We were pondering which Candy Shop song this was named after. I think we both decided that it was probably after the 50 cent version because Deb is a gangster like that lol. Now I have no idea if that's true but I like the idea of it haha!

I used 2 coats of Candy Shop for the photos below. There were some bald-ish spots but I liked the way it looked and thought adding another coat might be overkill!

Forget You is all that wonderful glitter in a black jelly base. I was a little worried about this one, that maybe the black wouldn't let the glitter peek through enough but nope...not the case! I really love this one. I do prefer Candy Shop but  not by much. The formula on both Forget You and Candy Shop was a little thick due to the amount of glitter in them but they were pretty easy to apply! I used 2 coats for Forget You for the photos below.

China Glaze Metro & OPI Touring America Collection Comparisons!

Good Morning guys! Today I have a whole bunch of comparisons for you from both the China Glaze Metro Collection and the OPI Touring America Collection. I decided to just mush these all together since I compared a few from both collections to each other.

First up is OPI My Address is Hollywood vs. Essie Your Hut Or Mine. Pretty much the instant I took My Address is Hollywood out of the box I knew it would be very similar to this Essie, which is fine with me since I love that polish! Gotta say they are pretty darn close, the only difference is the shimmer...Essie has a lot more of it and it's more noticeable. In terms of formula I prefer Essie, the OPI was a little bit thinner and more streaky. I used 3 coats of the OPI and 2 coats of the Essie for the photo below.

Since there are a lot of pictures in this post I've decided to put the rest under a cut. Click the read more button below to see the rest of the comparisons!

Color Club Fractured Collection Swatches Pt. 2!

Good Morning guys! Today I have for you the second half of the Color Club Fractured Collection!  If you missed part 1 you can check it out here! For me, this is the most exciting half so I hope you guys like these ones too!

Kiss and Break Up is a fuschia crack polish. I tried this over a bunch of shades on a nail wheel and love how over dark colors it looks very purple but over light ones it's much more pink...it's like getting 2 polishes for 1 haha!  I have it over China Glaze Concrete Catwalk in the photos below.

Splitting Image is a bright shimmery blue crack polish. When I first got it I thought it would be a dupe of OPI's Blue Shatter but it's a different shade, so yay! I really love this combo, it makes me want to go swimming or hang out at the beach.! I have Splitting Image over Island Girl Big Island Volcano in the photos below!

Tattered in Gold is a gold crack polish. I had some issues with this one, the main one being that it did not want to crack. I tried everything...over dry polish without a topcoat, over dry polish with top coat, over slightly tacky polish and the cracking just isn't happening how I'd like it to. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I do like the shade of gold it is, I think once I can figure out to to make this baby work for me I will like it a lot more. The combo that worked the best for me is Tattered in Gold over China Glaze Midtown Magic
