China Glaze Fall 2011 Metro Collection Swatches!

Good Morning guys, I am SO excited for today's post. I've been looking forward to the Metro Collection since the very first promo photos started floating around months ago. Fall polish collections are hands down my favorite, I love all the muted and dark colors! The Metro Collection consists of 12 new shades...2 glitters, 3 shimmers and 7 cremes. I love every single one of them, in fact I don't think I can even pick a favorite out of them, I thought I had a favorite but now I'm torn because they are all fantastic!

This post is very picture heavy so I've put all the big photos under a cut. Click the "read more" link to see full sized swatches and reviews of each shade.

First up is Brownstone! Brownstone is a very brown toned red creme. It is supposed to mimic a burnt terracotta color, I think it does that pretty well! The formula was great, I used 2 coats for full coverage

CG In The City is a multi colored glitter in a clear base. The glitter to me looks black, orange, and silver. It was a bit sheer given the clear base but it built up easily enough. I think it would be great alone or layered. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Shade

Sun

City Siren is a gorgeous red creme. I think it's named pretty perfectly! Not the most unique color, but a gorgeous red none the less. The formula was really great on this one, if you tend to do thicker coats this could be a 1 coater! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Concrete Catwalk is deep grey creme. Reminds me of a few other shades but I haven't compared any yet. The formula again, was great. I used 2 coats for the photo below.

Loft-y Ambitions is a deep burgundy with silver shimmer running throughout. I wasn't so sure about this one until I stepped out into the sun and then wowsa, totally awesome! The shimmer is so gorgeous! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Midtown Magic is very dark blackened burgundy base packed with flecks for gold shimmer. This polish is so full of win, the shimmer is a chameleon and looks red and orange depending on the angle and light. The formula was fantastic, I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Shade

Skyscraper is silver and blue glitter in a navy blue jelly base. If someone made me pick a favorite I think I would probably pick this one. It's perfection, if you like glitter this is a must have. It covered really well, much better than I thought it would. It also dried smooth, no gritty texture and it didn't eat topcoat like a lot of glitter heavy polishes do. I used 2 coats of Skyscraper for the photos below.

Shade

Street Chic is rich brown creme. I loooooooove shades like this, brown is one of my favorite colors of polish to wear. I do think this might be close to a couple polishes I have but I haven't compared them yet. The formula was great, I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Traffic Jam is a rich raspberry pink. This was an unexpected favorite for me, it's a shade I will probably be sporting on my toes a lot. It's one of those awesome shades that somehow makes me look tan! Formula again, awesome! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Trendsetter is a mustard-y golden yellow with a fabulous golden shimmer. This is one of those ugly/pretty colors, you either love it or absolutely hate it. I love it, it reminds me of Barielle's Aura Angora, but a bit darker and with shimmer. Not everyone's cup of tea but most definitely mine! I used 2 coats for the photos below!

Urban-Night is a deep purple creme. It ended up being a little darker than I expected it to be from looking at the bottle. This shade is so rich and chic looking, not the most original shade but I love a good purple and this is perfection! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Last up is Westside Warrior an army green creme. Can you guys guess that I am absolutely in love with this polish? I am such a fanatic of green polish! If you like green, you will love this one too! I used 2 coats for the photo below.

Overall this collection is a total win for me, every single polish had a great consistent formula and applied like butter. There are a few standout shades for me, Skyscraper, Trendsetter and Midtown Magic.

I know some people have already found this collection at a store near them, I personally have not seen it. I saw China Glaze mention on their Facebook the other day that the official release is in August for these. If you can't find them yet they should for sure be out soon!

I haven't had time to pull anything to compare to these yet, if there is anything you want to see compared to a polish in this collection let me know in the comments!

  8. Jen, you did a great job getting these done, thank you! I know I'll be getting a bunch of these, but not all. Skyscraper reminds me of the green and red glitters in the holiday collection, so pretty!

  11. I really want Midtown Magic and Skyscraper! They're the only ones that really grab my attention. I kind of wanted CG In The City, but it's not really wowing me like I had hoped, but it's still pretty.

  14. Hi, I'd just like to make a comparison suggestion. How about Milani #530 Gems and Ulta Piñata-Yada-Yada? I tried it myself and they look identical to me, but I'm not experienced and such, plus I don't have a camera or a blog lol. Thanks! :D:D

  15. Concrete Catwalk looks very, very similar to CND Asphalt :)

Gotta be completely honest though, it's a very well put together collection but not really anything spectacular. I don't think I'll be buying any of these polishes.

    Love your swatching :)

  17. They're all very pretty on you. I think my favorite is Concrete Catwalk (love me some grays), but I'm curious how it compares to Misa's Office Polish-tics.

  21. Don't make me pick a favorite!!! They are all eye-popping worthy.

If you hold my toes to a fire, I'd have to pick Midtown Magic and the Westside Warrior.

  22. I can't wait! I will be gettin several. Is Street Chic a dupe for Over the Taupe?

  23. There are some interesting colors in this collection. I don't know that I'm going to run out and get any of them, but I have my eye on Skyscraper and Midtown Magic. Trendsetter is interesting, but I think it would end up looking like baby poop on my fingers. LOL

  24. When I first started to see these in the graphic art promo photos released, I was thinking I was all over being an Uptown Gal. Now that I am seeing the actual swatches - I am lemming the downtown collection! Lots of pretties here. I am with you on Skyscraper unless it's going to be a huge scrub job to get the glitter off. Cannot wait for these to hit Sally's. But know I won't be ready to part with my summer brighter shades when they do hit and sort of tuck them away until mid Sept probably.
