China Glaze Metro & OPI Touring America Collection Comparisons!

Good Morning guys! Today I have a whole bunch of comparisons for you from both the China Glaze Metro Collection and the OPI Touring America Collection. I decided to just mush these all together since I compared a few from both collections to each other.

First up is OPI My Address is Hollywood vs. Essie Your Hut Or Mine. Pretty much the instant I took My Address is Hollywood out of the box I knew it would be very similar to this Essie, which is fine with me since I love that polish! Gotta say they are pretty darn close, the only difference is the shimmer...Essie has a lot more of it and it's more noticeable. In terms of formula I prefer Essie, the OPI was a little bit thinner and more streaky. I used 3 coats of the OPI and 2 coats of the Essie for the photo below.

Since there are a lot of pictures in this post I've decided to put the rest under a cut. Click the read more button below to see the rest of the comparisons!

China Glaze Brownstone vs Zoya Cola. Until this comparison Zoya Cola was an untried polish for me. I bought it when Zoya did their Earth Day promo this year and then kind of forgot about it. I pulled my entire Zoya drawer out to pull for this post and noticed that it looked a lot like Brownstone from the Metro collection. On, I'd say it's pretty much a dead on dupe! I do have to say in terms of formula I much preferred Brownstone, Cola was a bit less opaque and needed an extra coat. I used 2 coats of Brownstone and 3 coats of Cola for the photo below.

China Glaze Concrete Catwalk vs CND Asphalt, this one was requested in the comments of the Metro collection post (Misa Office Polish-tics was also requested but I forgot about it, sorry about that! They don't look close in the bottles for what it's worth) In the bottles they looked very similar, but once on the nail Concrete Catwalk was much darker. Formula wise, CND wins...what can I say, CND knows how to do a creme and they will pretty much always win a formula war lol. I used 2 coats of each polish for the photo below.

China Glaze Skyscraper vs Nicole by OPI It's Not Me, It's Blue. A few of you mentioned in comments of the Nicole by OPI Fall Target Exclusives post that It's Not Me, It's Blue looked similar to China Glaze Skyscraper. I gotta admit, I didn't see the similarity but I'm always happy to compare things anyway. These 2 babies are very different. the NOPI is much more purpley blue and is packed with shimmer and Skyscraper is silver and blue glitter in a blue jelly base.  Both gorgeous...and different enough to justify owning both if you like em! I used 2 coats of Skyscraper and 4 coats of It's Not Me, It's Blue for the photos below.

Shade

OPI A-Taupe The Space Needle vs. OPI You Don't Know Jacques vs. China Glaze Street Chic. When I was going through my stash I thought You Don't Know Jacques might be close to one of the taupe browns from OPI & China Glaze Fall but nope, I was wrong. All 3 are different and lovely in their own way! I used 2 coats of each polish for the photo below.

OPI Honk If You Love OPI vs China Glaze Urban-Night. These 2 looked very similar when I had the bottles sitting on my desk so I had to compare them. They both have the same feeling but Honk If You Love OPI is a bit darker...not by much though! The formula on Urban-Night was the teeniest bit better but I do love both polishes! I used 2 coats for each polish.

China Glaze First Mate vs OPI Road House Blues vs. American Apparel Passport Blue. In the comments of the Touring America collection post it was suggested Road House Blues might be similar to China Glaze First Mate, they are way more different than I thought they would be. First Mate is much lighter and brighter. I did find something a little closer in my stash though, American Apparel Passport Blue, it looks like Road House Blues has a little bit more purple in it but they might be close enough to kill the lemming for some people. I used 2 coats of each polish for the photo below.

OPI Uh-Oh Roll Down The Window vs China Glaze Westside Warrior.  The battle of the fall greens lol! Unfortunately for those of you who need all things green these babies are not dupes. Westside Warrior is a bit darker and Uh-Oh has more of a murky grey feeling to it. I love both, if you like greens you will too! I used 2 coats of each polish for this photo.

OPI Uh-Oh Roll Down The Window vs. Nicole by OPI Green Up Your Act vs China Glaze Westside Warrior. Can I just say that this comparison is freakin me out. I keep looking at this picture and tripping out because Green Up Your Act looks blue/grey sandwiched in between these other 2 greens. I assure you, it is green but apparently A LOT more blue based than I originally thought it was lol. I used 2 coats for each polish below.

OPI Uh-Oh Roll Down The Window vs Zoya Gemma vs China Glaze Westside Warrior. This comparison was requested in the comments of the Touring America post. Definitely not dupes since both OPI & China Glaze have no shimmer but I think we both thought the base color might be close to one of the fall greens. Welp, no such luck. Gemma is a lot lighter, maybe a bit more yellow in the base. Also, I forgot how fantastical Gemma was until I did this comp. I love that polish! I used 2 coats of the OPI & China Glaze and 3 coats of Zoya Gemma for the photo.

OPI Uh-Oh Roll Down The Window vs Zoya Shawn vs China Glaze Westside Warrior. Last but not least, another requested comparison. This is one I had on my mind too but Shawn isn't as close as I thought it would be. It's a lot brighter, it makes the other 2 seems more greyed out than they really are! Do I need all 3...yep...do you? If you like green I think so haha. I used 2 coats for each polish.

Whew, i think that's it. If there is anything else you want to see compared to any of the China Glaze & OPI Fall shades let me know in the comments and I'll try and get them done (provided I actually own the polish you want to see it compared to). There were a few I wanted to do like China Glaze Midtown Magic vs. OPI Tease-y Does It but my bottle of OPI is hiding somewhere and I can't find it :( Best Blogger Tips

  2. Thanks so much for posting this! I'm debating Uh-Oh Roll down the Window and Westside Warrior. Would you say one is cooler toned than the other or are both warm toned? And if you do find your bottle of Tease-y Does It, I would love to see that comparison, too! Thanks again!

  3. Thank you so much for the green comparisons! Yep, I'll definitely need both OPI Uh oh roll down the window and OPI by Nicole green up your act (my wallet does NOT thank you! haha)

  4. Really great job ! Super usefull, I know which one I need.
Could you compare OPI Road house blues with Orly Wild Wisteria (which I own)? I don't know if I should buy the Opi one.

  5. Good duping!

It helps cut down my wishlist. Although my 10 shades of red *are* essential...

  6. Do you have Zoya Kelly?

Not sure how similar it is to China Glaze Concrete Catwalk, but the Zoya may have more of a purple undertone me thinks.

  9. Thank you so much for doing these comparisons. For most of the China Glaze comparisons, I am seeing I would prefer the China Glaze over the colors you compared them too. It really does help to see the colors next to each other.

  10. Right up until now I have never felt a lemmin for Zoya Gemma. But that one nail in that one picture made me NEED it! haha..
    Thanks for great comparisons ;)

  12. Wow! Holy dupes, Batman! A few of those are so close. Thanks for the comparisons - now I know I don't have to run out and get a couple of the new collection.

  13. Thanks for the comparison! One of the three OPI I was going to buy isn't going to be bought now. Great post!

  14. I'm thinking China Glaze Street Chic is more dupey to Essie Hot Coco than anything else..

  15. Thanks for doing this - incredibly helpful! However, I'm going to be a pita and ask how SOPI Caught With My Khakis Down compares to the greens. Looks like it might be closest to Uh Oh Roll Down the Window.

The Nicole looks so much bluer! I have Shawn, yet I still want WW. LOL

Any idea how the purples compare to older OPIs like We'll Always Have Paris?

    Great pics!

  16. @brazenspider When you do find Tease-y-Does it, my guess is the OPI one is a lot more brown base than the new CG Midnight Magic is which looks from your swatches to be a much darker brown/black base then the Burlesque OPI color is - just looking from my bottle to your swatches of the CG fall collection

  17. Thanks so much for the comparisons. I know I can now narrow down my purchases this fall...not so much from total dupes, but ones I know I have that are 'in range.' I surely don't need both the the pink from the OPI fall collection when I had Essie's Your Hut Or Mine - you like the Essie one better and so do I from having it already. Love it in the bottle and on. I think I will have to make notes in my polish workbook so i don't goof up here as I try to cut my costs a tish on polish.

  18. I have been coveting Your Hut or Mine...

  19. Freaking EPIC comparison post! Thanks Jen :)

  20. wow, very god comparisons! what about China Glaze Side Saddle with Midtown Magic, those two seem similar

  21. I would looove to see the army greens compared to Essie's Sew Psyched! Thanks so much for all these comparisons - they really help!

  22. This is very comprehensive! You did great! And thanks for the comparisons!

  23. Thanks for the comparisons. How about a comparison of CG Midtown Magic, OPI Teas-y Does It, and DS Mystery?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Thank you for the post, really usuful (but I still want too many of these Fall polishes)!

  25. OPI I Brake For Manicures look like Essi Smokin' Hot. What do you think ?

  26. @Lise

    I don't own Wild Wisteria, sorry :(

    ReplyDelete
  27. @Squared Nails

I thought I had Zoya Kelly but I think I swapped away my bottle because it's nowhere to be found

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Paillette

I couldn't find anything in my stash close to the dark brown from OPI Fall. Everything was just a bit off or not dark enough!

    ReplyDelete
  29. @Megan

Unfortunately I don't own that Essie so I'm not sure how they compare

    ReplyDelete
  30. @Melissa

The $OPI polish is a lot lighter which I was surprised about. That's what I didn't compare them with all of these, it was SO different!

I don't have the OPI you mentioned so I'm not sure how it compares

    ReplyDelete
  31. @hermetic

    I don't own Side Saddle, so I can't compare them :(

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Anonymous

I don't *think* they are similar, Sew Psyched has shimmer that neither of the greens from China Glaze or OPI have. I'll check to see if the base colors might be close and if they are I'll do a comparison!

  33. @Keisha

I don't own DS Mystery and like I said in my post I cannot find my bottle of Tease-y Does It, sorry!

    ReplyDelete
  34. @Lise

I swapped away my bottle of Smokin' Hot a while back so I'm not sure how they compare

    ReplyDelete
  35. Thank you for the Gemma comparison. I think the base for the OPI and Gemma are the same, Gemma only seems lighter because of the shimmer. Looking at the edges of your nail near the OPI, it appears the same to my eye. But then, I am looking at a monitor and you were looking at them for real. :) Thanks again, I'll stick with Gemma, she's the prettiest girl in the bunch.

  36. This is awesome! I keep thinking OPI ATTSN is a dupe for Essie Mink Muffs

    ReplyDelete
  37. I wonder how Zoya Dree from Smoke & Mirrors compares to the greens?

    ReplyDelete
  38. thanks for doing all those comparisons! you're awesome!

and you are quite right, I'm one of those green lovers and I will get all of them, except zoya gemma, I don't like the blue shimmer in this one. But I will get zoya dree ;))
shawn looks awesome in that pic, I really have to wear more green :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I am wondering if Uh-Oh and DL Billionaire are close? Do you mind doing a comparison? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  40. @Anonymous

They are not similar at all. Uh Oh is an olive-y military green and Billionaire is a very dark almost black hunter green. If they were closer I would do a comparison but they are just so different that it's not one on my list

    ReplyDelete
  41. Thank you for the great post! It's like you read my mind :) I wasn't sure which green to buy, but after reading this I am :) Gemma it is!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Love your comparison swatches! Just wondering, how does uh-oh roll down the window compare to Essie Sew Psyched?

    ReplyDelete
  43. How do the taupe shades compare to Essie Hot Coco?
