OPI Shimmer Into Summer Ulta Exclusive Summer Collection Swatches!

Hi guys! I have swatches for you of the new Shimmer Into Summer Collection from OPI, these are Ulta Exclusives that you can only get in Ulta Stores. I went and picked them up this morning, they actually had to go dig through boxes in the back for me. I think it's literally the first time ever that I've gotten that kind of good customer service there! If you want these and you go to Ulta and can't find them...ask like I did! I have heard some talk of these being re-promotes of the Nicole by OPI Gossip Girl Collection. I don't have any of those polishes to compare side by side....but I have been looking up swatches and I tend to agree that it is the same. If you missed the Gossip Girl Collection, like me, you can pick these up instead! I prefer the OPI brush and bottle so I'm happy about this!

First up is How You Blue-in? It is a very blackened blue shimmer, there is also some green shimmer hiding in there that I couldn't catch on my camera but could definitely see. Not the most summery color ever but who cares, I love it! The formula was good, first coat was a bit sheer and streaky but the second coat evened it all out!

I'm An Aqua-holic is a medium blue shimmer, almost a foil finish on this one. I think this one was named for me haha! I'm gonna need OPI to make every color with a -holic at the end please! I kind lol at this name because it's not aqua, at least this is not what I picture aqua to be. The formula was much like How You Blue-In? Sheer and streaky on the first coat and all evened out on the second coat.

Shade! (ignore the purple flash in the bottle, it's my stupid pink camera reflecting!)

Glitter-ally The Best Silver Ever is small silver glitter in a milky silvery white base. I thought this one wouldn't be opaque so I was happy that it built up nicely! The formula was a bit thick, but it's a very dense glitter so I expected that. I used 3 coats for full opacity, I bet it would also make a great layering polish!

Shade

Last up is Sparkle Teal Sunrise is a squishy aqua/teal base packed with glitter. It was very very sheer, I don't care for it on it's own but I will be layering with this a lot! I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Shade

Here is Sparkle Teal Sunrise over the blues from this collection.  The first picture is Sparkle Teal Sunrie over I'm An Aqua-holic and the second picture is Sparkle Teal Sunrise over How You Blue-in?  Both photos are 1 coat over the base color.

The Shimmer Into Summer Collection is an Ulta Exclusive, they retail for $8.50 each.

  9. It's a little disappointing that they're rereleases, but good for people who missed the GG collection or hate the Nicole saggy boob bottles.

How You Blue-in'? looks a lot like Sinful Colors See you Soon or Essie Dive Bar.

  11. looked up the GG collection by Nicole by OPI. Disappointed. But I bought the two sparkles anyways just because I missed the GG collection, and I generally like OPI more.. 22 bottles of OPI and 4 bottles of Nicole at home.

  16. Those are really pretty.

Tragically, there is no Ulta here. I have to go to the Valley to get to one. And Ulta doesn't put OPI on their website. (I wonder why?)

  19. These are so gorgeous! I'm glad that you got good customer service. When I went to my Ulta they didn't have them out yet and said they'd be out in the next half hour...I wonder if I went to the same one as you.

  22. I think this might be my first time commenting although I've been following for some time and love your blog!! (I attempted my first splatter manicure over the weekend, but was horribly unsuccessful *sadface* I carefully followed all of your steps, but no matter how hard I tried, when I blew - nothing happened?!? So I tried dipping the straw into the polish bottle thinking maybe I didn't have enough polish on the straw, but then there was so much on it that it just dropped all over my nail. I have no idea what I was doing wrong.) That leads to my first question: 1) Would you be willing to put a short video on your tutorial page showing that portion of the process? It would be helpful to see you doing it so I (and perhaps others) know what I'm doing wrong in comparison. (Sorry to be such a newbie pain *smile* I'm just starting out!)
Second, I just have a suggestion for the way you display your site - I think you have some of the most beautiful pictures of all the nail blogs I follow (I only look at about 15 or 20 so I'm not some expert or anything *laughing*) and I thought it would be helpful if when you are reviewing collections (such as this one - the OPI Shimmer into Summer collection) if, after doing each individual color, you put one set of pictures of all the colors in the collection together - three on top of three or 4 by 4. That way it's easy to see how all the colors relate to one another and to be able to compare the colors to each other and know if there are certain ones you may/may not want to get. (Does this make sense?)

It's just a suggestion that occurred to me and you may have already considered doing this and decided you don't want to, in which case - just ignore me! *smile*

Again, thanks so much for everything you are doing - I think it is amazing how much you offer to all of us out here~the dedication and skill and knowledge and time.

    You are a wonder!

  25. @Ladymorri

Hi there, unfortunately a video tutorial won't be happening. They aren't my thing and my camera doesn't take great videos anyway. I would suggest trying out different straws, I tried a few before I found ones that worked for me!

I'll take into consideration your suggestion.

    Thanks!

  27. I love these and picked up How you Blue-in and Sparkle Teal Sunrise today. I was surprised how dark Blue-in was on the nail. The teal sparkle looks amazing over it.

Ulta is having buy $17 of OPI and get a base or top coat or one from this collection free! The third one I got was the blue shatter. I guess I am feeling blue today!

  29. MOM! We need to go to Ulta NOW! ;)

  30. Is Sparkle teal Sunrise a dupe for Paul Joe Mediterranean, from this Summer L' horizon Bleu Collection? Buying Paul & Joe online is easier when Ulta is not around.

    ReplyDelete
  31. @Asuka

unfortunately nope, they are 2 very different glitters. I have that Paul & Joe, just haven't had time to swatch it yet!

  32. I was wondering if Glitter-ally is a dupe for Zoya Luna? They look similar and if so I don't need to hunt for Glitter-ally.

    ReplyDelete
  33. @desertbunnee

Unfortunately I don't own Zoya Luna so I'm not sure/can't compare the 2, sorry :(
