Orly Mineral Fx Collection Swatches

Good Morning!! Hope all of you had a good weekend! Anyone watch the VMA's? I sort of did, I DVR-ed it then fast forwarded through about 98% of it, I only watched Adele and Young The Giant.....everyone else...meh. It seems like the VMA's get crappier every year and I don't even know who half the people are that are nominated.

Today I have for you guys the Mineral Fx Collection from Orly! I saw these at CosmoProf and was blown away, they are shimmer packed and gorgeous! I believe these are supposed to be on shelves starting in September but some Sally Beauty Supply stores already have them out. I got mine there, they weren't out but the sales associate was nice enough to go get them out of the back for me!

Click the Read More button below to see full pictures and reviews of each shade.

Emberstone is a bright shimmery cherry red. Boring right? No! The shimmer in this is orange and purple! What I like about this is that the shimmer is different and you can actually see it, even in my photos (yay!) Out of all the shimmery reds that have been coming out lately, I can say pretty easily none of them are like this! The formula was great, 2 coats for full opacity!

Rock Solid is a gunmetal grey packed with shimmer and little bits of holo glitter. This was my favorite in the bottle, I drooled over it at CosmoProf. Wouldn't you know though, it's not my favorite of the collection on. I do really love it though! I really love how the bits of holo glitter didn't get eaten once I put this on, sometimes that happens with polishes like these but not with Rock Solid! In fact, the holo glitter showed up really well. It was a pain to get it to photograph but it was gorgeous in person! The formula was really great, I used 2 coats for the photos below. This did dry with a bit of texture but nothing a coat of top coat didn't fix.

Rock The World is a dark pink/plum with a strong golden shimmer. I feel like this polish is this years Catch Me In Your Net/Charla etc... we've seen it a bazillion times by now. I do really like this version though, it is not a dupe to OPI It's My Year or Zoya Faye/OPI Rally Pretty Pink. I did a comparison which should go up sometime this week. It's a bit darker than all it's similar cousins! The formula was so much better than all it's lookalikes though. It seems like all of the polishes I mentioned above were 3 coaters and this was was only a 2 coater!

Rock-It is a shimmery wine color. meh, that pretty much sums up my feelings on this one. Pretty but I don't think it's worthy of the higher retail price tag this collection comes with. I feel like it's much more shimmery than any similar polish I have but it's really not exciting other than that. Great formula on this one, I almost got away with 1 coat! I ended up using 2 coats for the photos below.

Rococo A-Go-Go is a dark purple with a golden duochrome. I love this one, however I found a pretty close dupe to it which i'll post later this week. I wonder if you guys can guess what it is?!? Even though I own something very similar I really love this polish, it's a gorgeous shade of purple and it's beautiful in the shade! Great formula again, I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Shade

Stone Cold is this insane shimmery blue. INSANE! If you only get one polish from this collection I'd pick this one! The shimmer is very chunky, bordering on glitter...in fact maybe it is glitter it's hard to tell. Surprisingly this dried pretty smooth, I was expecting the same kind of grit that Rock Solid had but there wasn't any! I don't even have words for this polish, my pictures don't do it justice! Great formula, again, 2 coats for full opacity!

Overall I really like this collection, the formula on each polish was really great. There are 2 standouts for me, Rock Solid and Stone Cold. I really loved Emberstone too, if you like red you'll love it! These should be available soon, or maybe even already if your Sally's already has them out. These are a bit more expensive than regular Orly collections, they retail $7.99 at Sally Beauty Supply and should be $10 everywhere else.

  1. My guess for the Rococo A-Go-Go (dumbest name, ever, BTW) is Zoya Valerie :)

  2. Thanks for the review! How was the removal for these polishes?

  3. This collection is so damn pretty! Can't even decide which I like best... Probably Rococo A-Go-Go, Stone Cold and Rock the world... I guess in the end I will be ordering all of them ;) Thanks for the nice swatches!

  4. Damn, Sarah beat me to it, but yeah, Rococo-a-go-go really looks like Valerie. And how does the blue compare with OPI Swimsuit Nailed it!?

  5. @Sarah

hah! good guess, I actually compared it to Jem but it's basically the same as both!

  6. @OPI Addict

very easy, the only one that put up a fight was Rock Solid but even that wasn't too horrible.

  7. love this collection...Rococo A-Go-Go is awesome..

  8. @Fairy Lélie

You guys were right, I compared it to Jem but that is pretty much the same as Valerie!

Swimsuit is much much more of a foil where this one is a chunky shimmer/glitter. Same kind of color but different finish. If I ever find my bottle of Swimsuit I'll do a comparison :)

  9. Cool! I love the Stone Cold and Emberstone! I guess it's about time I try some Orly polish! I wish Sally's wasn't 112 miles from me!

  10. I found these actually out in only one of our Sally Beauty stores in town. I thought they were gorgeous in the bottle, but they're even better out of it!

  11. OMG wow, Rock Solid and Stone Cold are def. must haves. So beautiful! Thanks for sharing them with us, I doubt it's going to take me long before I give in and obtain them *lol*

  12. They are pretty...but some of them seem dupey? Hmmm

    ReplyDelete
  13. oh, I fell in love with Rock solid :D

  14. *dies* NEED Emberstone, Rock Solid, and Stone Cold!!! The others are gorgeous too but I'll have to see 'em in person to decide.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I love these on your nails! Sadly I'm not blown away by any of the colours, although I'm sure my wallet is happy with that LOL

    ReplyDelete
  16. Rock the world and Rococo a go-go are my faves! yay for two-coaters, too. super nice swatches as usual!

    ReplyDelete
  17. NEED Stone Cold now... have the same favs as you though. Loving Rock solid and emberstone secondary. I may need some others thanks to your lovely swatches.

I might not have electricity next month... but my polish will entertain me! =)

  18. I like Rock-It. What IS the 'extra' cost on this collection you referenced? I had no idea they were going to charge more per bottle for these too. Are they gritty feeling on top like some glitter polishes are? Or do they have a slick finish like a fleck does and the highly shimmery Zoya Sunshine collection has from their summer collections???

  19. @JenOMG! We have yet another dup for Valerie? Actually I think Jem is got a bit more red in it than my Valerie has. Also Jem looks a tish lighter in that deep purple hue area. But like has been discussed a ton - not much difference and unless you LOVE and need every deep yet bright purple, ya only need one of these 3. I would go with Zoya frankly because I know they come off with remover without elbow grease!!!!

  20. Oh My! yep, I love em. I am really diggin Stone Cold, Rococo A-Go-Go,and Rock Solid.

  21. Rock Solid and Stone Cold are GORGEOUS! Can't wait to get my hands on these babies!!! Thanks for the post.

  23. I love this collection!!
My favs are the grey, red and dark pink ones!

  24. YAY - I love you girl! I was waiting for swatches of this collection!!! Rock Solid is so amazing, the whole collection will be mine because I adore Orly's formula.

    ReplyDelete
  25. No that I've studied the pictures long enough - I'm need this collection right now! OMG, these are stunning! Is the dark purple similar to Zoya Jem? I have it, but I'm buying Orly anyway, they work better for me. Thanks you for your awesome swatches.

  26. Wow Jen, those are some amazing swatches! If they only look half as good IRL then I'm going to buy at least three of them ( purple, grey and blue ). Thank you for showing!!! XXX

    ReplyDelete
  27. These are all so stunning, I want ALL of them! :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thank you for the post. Now I know taht I don't need any of them, nothing amazing, really.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I only really want Stone Cold and Rococo A-Go-Go, but first I'd like to see how it compares to Zoya Valerie. Rock Solid is a pretty color too, but nothing that jumps out at me.

    ReplyDelete
  30. love this new collection Rock The World is pretty!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh yay! I just got Jem--that is my fave of the collection.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Wonder what the rock theme is in these polishes? Your swatches are terrific, and even if there are dupes I find myself wanting 4 out of 6 of them!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I love this post so much! I love, love this collection!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Great post! I really love Stone Cold, but I wonder how it compares to OPI's Swimsuit...Nailed It!. If you have any spare time, do you think you could compare them? Thanks! :D

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hmm.. I'm kind of disappointed in these, nothing super interesting. They're pretty but not very different. Oh well! Thanks for the great swatches :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I am loving this collection. I think I want them all :)

  37. mineral fx?!! whatever happened to birds of a feather?? i never saw it at any of the sally's. does anyone know if sally's will be getting that collection in? it seems like they skipped out on that one. :(

    ReplyDelete
  38. @sarah

Birds Of A Feather is out also, I just haven't picked it up yet. I've seen it out at Ulta!

    ReplyDelete
  39. @Miss Blue

The finishes of the two are very different a foil versus a glitter. I actually can't find my bottle of Swimsuit right now but when I do I'll compare them!

    ReplyDelete
  40. @thalie @ Glazed Talons

I think it's supposed to have to do with whatever is giving them their shimmer? who knows lol

    ReplyDelete
  41. @Melissa

I'll have a comparison up with it and Jem very soon (sometime this week!). Jem and Valerie are practically identical so hopefully that helps!

    ReplyDelete
  42. @PolishSis

Thanks Inge! I promise they are even better IRL!

    ReplyDelete
  43. @Anonymous

it's very similar to Jem, I'll have a comparison up later this week!

    ReplyDelete
  44. @beachgal

These don't reqire "elbow grease" to get off, removal was no different than the Zoya's!

    ReplyDelete
  45. @beachgal

Not really sure what the extra is, this collection is similar to how the Cosmix collection was last year, some kind of special shimmer or something so they charge more. They all dried smooth except for Rock Solid :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. @Mel, Glassflecked.

LOL polish>> electricity. We have to have priorities right?!? haha

    ReplyDelete
  47. @Jenn Staz

Thanks! I was really happy about all of them being 2 coaters also!

    ReplyDelete
  48. @Elizabeth Life and Polish

I can't believe you don't like any of them Liz :(( I don't think we can be friends anymore

    ReplyDelete
  49. @Jackie S.

I only found dupes easily to Rococo A Go-Go. I was actually hoping to find more but I can't even think of any for the other shades :(

    ReplyDelete
  50. These are gorgeous! Originally I was only interested in Emberstone, but now I know I'll have to pick up Stone Cold and Rock Solid as well. :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oooh the shimmer in Emberstone sounds so cool! I really enjoy Rock Solid also. Stone Cold is SO pretty too but it looks like OPI's Swimsuit... Nailed It and I would rather have a foil than a glitter (I'm a lazy bum with removal of glitters.) My guess for Rococo A-Go-Go is Nars Purple Rain! I'm lemming that one sooo hard. Great swatches, Jen!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I wonder how emberstones compares to zoya kimmy and rock it to opi's the one that got away or congeniality is my middle name

this is a lovely collection, love the shimmery goodness :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. I sold both my Zoya Charla and Valerie because they were horrible to remove: they stained my fingers so badly I needed about a gallon of polish remover.... So I'd love to know if removing Rococo A-Go-Go is any easier because I'd LOVE to have a polish like that, it's sooo pretty.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hi Jen, awesome swatches as usual!
Is Emberstone similar to OPI's Love is a Racket? I love that one. Also, any tips on how to keep your cuticles looking as lovely as yours?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Emberstone looks like OPI Love is a racket...

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm curious about how Rock Solid compared to Chanel Graphite...I know Graphite has no holo, but I love the holo!

    ReplyDelete
  57. @~Elizabeth aka Lacquered Lizard

I wish I could tell you but I don't own Graphite :( Do you? If you do I can bring Rock Solid to our mani/pedi date next weekend and we can compare them!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Beautiful photos! I'm excited to see how lovely they are, because I found Stone Cold and Rock the World at T.J. Maxx for $3.99 each, and I got Rococo a Go Go as a gift with purchase at Sally Beauty. These are the advantages of patience, I guess, since this is an older collection.
