The Painted Nail Moondrops

Happy Friday! Before I talk about today's post I just wanted to thank all of you who entered the Layla Magneffect giveaway! The winner was Sarah! I hope she loves the magnetic polishes as much as I do :)

Today I have for you the last polish I bought while I was at The Painted Nail a little while back! It's Moondrops! You might have heard of this one before? It's pretty awesome, it's a layering polish packed with little bits of silver, ice blue and green glitter and silvery white hex glitter! I have nothing like this baby, it's is gorgeous! I have it over a dark navy (pretty much black) in the photos below but I've put it over several things since taking these photos and so far I love it the best over a pumpkin orange polish I had on the other day. I love that there are so many options for this! I used 1 coat of Moondrops over Orly Le Chateau for the photos below.

You can purchase The Painted Nail polishes on their website here. Each polish is $12.50. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Tuff Scent Loyalty

Good Morning! Before I start rambling just wanted to let you know that posting for the next few days might be sparse. I'm going to San Diego this weekend and had a major planning fail so I have to drive all the way back to Orange County on Saturday for a concert then all the way back to San Diego after. For anyone in this area you know what a sucky drive that is, it is SO boring. The only thing along the way to look forward to is the San Onofre boobs aka the nuclear power plant, but it looks like giant boobs! What a mess, go me! haha. At least it should be worth it, I'm going to the Honda Civic Tour with Blink 182 and My Chemical Romance on should be fun! Fun fact, the first time I saw Blink 182 was a little over 10 years was also the first time I saw New Found Glory live and I'll being seeing them soon too! Apparently my taste in music hasn't changed in a loooooong time. Wow...I guess I failed at the not rambling that you all know weird things about my taste in music lets talk about nail polish!

Today I have for you guys a gorgeous polish from Tuff Scent. I have been meaning to post this then it got kinda lost in my drafted posts :( . In case you have never heard of Tuff Scent before, I posted a little bit of background on them in this post! Basically Tuff Scent makes gorgeous and awesome smelling nail polish. I know we've all seen scented polish a bazillion times but their scents are different an unusual and I really love that!

Today's polish is called Loyalty and it smells like lilac! It is a shimmery navy blue, so gorgeous! The formula was really great on this but it was tricky to apply because the brush is long and the handle is so tiny. I kind of mastered it last time I wore one of Tuff Scent's polishes but I had some problems with it this time. I really loved the lilac scent in this, sometimes scented polish can be really overpowering but this one was pretty subtle. Not so subtle that you couldn't smell it but not strong enough that you would get a headache from it. The scent lasted for about a day and a half before it faded for anyone wondering! I hear from the wonderful people over at Tuff Scent that this color is a favorite of Vanessa Hudgens, good to know she has good taste in polish lol! This was also one of the polishes that was given out at the Teen Choice Awards! Lucky celebs, I wish I could go to one of those gifting suites...I imagine that it would be fabulous!

I used 2 coats of Loyalty for the photos sorry about the weird hand position. I can't seem to find a comfy way to hold these bottles!

Tuff Scent nail polish is $14 a bottle and can be purchased on the official Tuff Scent website here!

The Painted Nail Miz Biz & Riot

Good Morning, happy hump day! Today I have for you guys two more polishes from The Painted Nail. These are the other 2 shades named by Hayley Williams from Paramore. I was talking to a couple ladies about this combo on twitter the other night and decided I needed to wear it, I'm so glad I did!

Miz Biz is a bright teal creme. It dries with a satin matte finish, there must be a little neon pigment in it or something. I like it matte but I really love it shiny, I should have taken a picture of it that way! This polih is gorgeous and applied like a dream. I'm not sure if it stains or not since I'm still wearing it but if you have this I'd double up on base coat just in case. I used 2 coats of Miz Biz for the photos below.

Riot is the companion polish to Miz Biz, it is bright blue square glitter in a clear base. In the bottle you can see a little bit of green glitter sprinkled in but it didn't really transfer to the nail...I think it might over a different base color. I am in love with this combo, it is so sparkly and gorgeous...even indoors! For the photos below I have 1 coat of Riot over Miz Biz. I think you could probably get this opaque if you wanted to but I really love it as a layering polish! The formula was great, it wasn't thick at all! It did dry with a little bit of texture, you'll probably need two coats of top coat on this one if you want it to be smooth!

Close Up, in the shade!
The Painted Nail polishes can be purchased on their official website here, each polish is $12.50.

OPI DS Bold + a Comparison!!

Hi guys! Happy Tuesday! Today I have for you guys the other new OPI DS polish for Fall! This one is called Bold. This one isn't nearly as exciting as Temptation was but I'm sure a lot of people will like it!

Bold is silver glitter in a red jelly base. This one feels more Holiday than Fall to me! I don't really have a ton to say about this, it's pretty but not mindblowing. The formula was pretty good, I used 3 coats for full opacity.

I almost didn't buy Bold because it reminded me of something I had at home. I decided they must be a little different so I bought it. Once I got home and pulled out what I thought it looked like I realized they were very very very close. Alright so what polish am I talking about? China Glaze Mrs. Claus from last years Holiday collection. I really cannot tell Mrs. Claus and Bold apart as I wear them on my fingers right now, it's a pretty spot on dupe. If you already have Mrs. Claus you can pass on Bold, it's a lot cheaper, I'm sure your wallets will be happy about that! Mrs. Claus might be hard to come by in actual stores but it looks like a few of the etailers still have it if you want to pick it up!

Formula wise Bold and Mrs. Claus were very much the same, both were 3 coaters and went on very easily!

Tony Moly GT02 Earth

Good Morning! Hope you all had a good weekend! I have to ask, is anyone planning on watching Terra Nova tonight? I'm interested in it since it basically looks like Jurassic Park the TV show, I'm hoping it will have epic bad special effects like movies of the syfy channel have. Hopefully it isn't as awful as I imagine it will be, or maybe I hope it is because that would be very entertaining.

Today I have for you guys an awesome glitter from a brand called Tony Moly. I first heard about these when Steffels posted swatches of them. I went back and forth about buying them then my lovely enablers friends on twitter convinced me that I needed them. Today's polish is called Earth (GT02), it's part of the Galaxy GT Line which has 4 other glitters that are just as gorgeous. This brand is from South Korea, I have no idea if it's Big 3 free, judging by the smell my guess is probably not.

Earth is blue, silver and pink glitter in a smoky blue/grey/blackened base. I layered this over black in my photos below, I was worried it wouldn't be opaque. Surprisingly it was pretty opaque and you can barely see the black base in person. It seems to be coming out a little more in my photos. Formula wise it was good, it went on smooth and easy! It dried with a little bit of texture and it unfortunately eats top coat...but seriously, who cares. It can eat all the top coat it wants, it's gorgeous! My pictures do not do this justice! I used 2 coats of Earth over black for the photos below. All photos are in different shady spots around my house....this was so sparkly my camera couldn't handle it in the sun.

I bought this polish on ebay from a seller named hsckoreanimports, the actual listing for the Galaxy polishes can be found here (hopefully that link works!). These are shipped from South Korea so they might take a bit of time to reach you, it was just over a week for me which I thought was ridiculously quick considering where they were shipped from! These are pretty affordable IMO, $9.99 each (sometimes on sale for $8.99) and shipping is free!

Dermelect High Maintenance Instant Nail Thickener Review

Good Morning! Today I have a review for you guys! A while back Dermelect sent me their High Maintenance Instant Nail Thickener.

Here is some information on the Dermelect website that describes the product much better than I ever could. I'll give you my experience with it below the photo.

High on shine and long on durability, Dermelect High Maintenance Instant Nail Thickener utilizes protein-peptide technology to instantly thicken your nails up to 50% with a single coat. Add layers of protection to natural nails or top your polish with a long-lasting high shine and protective reinforcement. With the unique strengthening property of the protein peptide ProSina, you will directly apply a form of keratin similar to that which is found naturally in our nails resulting in nails that are more resistant to splitting, breaking and chipping. Fast drying and super glossy, this innovative, thickening treatment contains a UV absorber to protect your polish from yellowing while preventing both light and dark colors from quickly fading. Hands down the most innovative top coat you will ever need.
The ‘green’ formula is DBP, Toluene, and Formaldehyde free.
THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE TECHNOLOGY: New Zealand wool protein biotechnology is the secret ingredient in a new generation of nail and hand care products launched by Dermelect Cosmeceuticals. Keratin, the main protein in fingernails and skin, diminishes as we age and expose our nails to everyday wear and tear. The peptide ingredient ProSina™ is extracted from wool in a gentle yet powerful process keeping the protein intact maintaining its potency without damaging the amino acids that make it up. The integrity of the extracted peptide (keratin protein) is in a near-perfect state yielding unprecedented age-defying, strengthening and softening properties for the nails.

On the back of the bottle it indicates that you can use High Maintenance either on bare nails or over your polish. I tried it on my right hand on bare nails for a while and didn't love it, unfortunately. It caused peeling on a couple of nails, not all of them though. When that happened I stopped using it that way and decided to use it only as a top coat. As a top coat I love this stuff! It is super shiny and dries pretty fast, not nearly as fast as something like Seche Vite but faster than other non quick dry top coats I've used. I don't know that it made my nails any thicker but it did help them from feeling so flexible. My nails are fairly strong but have a tendency to feel too flexible (for lack of a better way of describing it), when I used High Maintenance as a top coat my nails didn't feel like that. I've also been using it to refresh manicures after a couple of days and it does wonders for that. I've always used Barielle Manicure Extender for that but I prefer this over the Barielle.

Overall I'm not sure if I would pick up another bottle but I am loving this as a top coat. I just don't know that I love it enough to justify the price tag. What do you guys think? Have you tried High Maintenance before?

Dermelect High Maintenance Instant Nail Thickener can be purchased on for $16.

OPI DS Temptation

Good Morning! Hope your Saturday is going well so far! Today I have for you guys one of the new OPI DS polishes for Fall. I picked this up at a local shop, I'm not sure when it will be available places like Ulta, since it's for Fall my guess would be soon!

Temptation is a glitter bomb like whoa! The most dominant colors of glitter are blue, purple and pink which all swim around in a sheer dark blue base. Depending on the lighting it was either very purple or very blue with little bright spots of pink peeking through. Seriously, this polish is gorgeous. I'll be the first to admit that I am bummed that OPI DS no longer equals holo but if OPI wants to give us pretty glitter like this instead I might be okay with it. Temptation really has a lot of depth to it, it's one of those polishes that is unsafe to wear while driving. I kept wanting to stare at my nails when the sun would hit them...that is dangerous! I think the sun pictures I took of this do not do it justice, it's one that you need to see in person! Formula wise it was actually pretty good, it went on sheer at first but built up nicely and it wasn't thick at all. It dried pretty smooth but very dull looking, I put on a couple coats of top coat and it was good to go! I used 3 coats of Temptation for the photos below!

Rescue Beauty Lounge Poco a Poco

Good morning! Happy Friday!!! Anyone have fun plans for this weekend? I'm probably going to see a few movies and do some shopping! Nothing too exciting, but that's fine by me.

Today I have for you guys Poco a Poco from Rescue Beauty Lounge. This was the only other one I bought, the other 2 didn't really do enough to justify the price tag for me. I was unsure about this one also but ended up getting it because I knew I'd be filled with regret if I didn't and then it went out of stock. Poco a Poco is a dusty rose pink filled with reddish pink shimmer! The shimmer was a little illusive even in the bright sun but it is stunning when it comes out! This is so not my typical kind of color but I am loving it! The formula was great, a little on the thick side but it applied wonderfully. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

I apologize in advance for the state of my cuticles, I took these photos after a long day of filing at work. My cuticles look messed up but the mani still looks good! haha!

Poco a Poco is available to purchase now on Rescue Beauty Lounge's website, each polish is $18!

Orly Holiday 2011 Holiday Soireé Collection Swatches!

Good Morning! Today I have Orly's Winter/Holiday Collection for you guys! I originally saw this for the first time at Cosmoprof in Vegas. Initially only one polish from this collection caught my eye, I was interested to see if I might be more excited about the rest once I saw them in person. I'll be talking more about that after the cut!

Glitter Gal Red 3D Holo

Good morning!  Happy Wednesday, the work week is almost over wooohoooo!! Anyone watch some of the new shows on tv last night? I have them all dvr-ed but I haven't watched yet. I did watch the second episode of Ringer though, I'm trying so hard to love that show (mostly because I like Sarah Michelle Gellar) but I just can't get into it. They really killed me last night when LILA from Dexter was on it, ugh I haaaaaate her. I feel bad for that actress, after her role Dexter I will dislike her in everything and she will always be Lila to me haha!

Anyway, today I have a gorgeous polish for you guys! Glitter Gal Red 3D Holo is pretty much amazing. I'm really excited because these beauties are becoming a lot easier to get my paws on here in the states, Glitter Gal now used Overall Beauty as a stockist so we save a bit on shipping and waiting for the polish to arrive!  Red 3D Holo is a bright red linear holo! It seems like I've been searching for a red linear holo but most of them have sucked, good news...this one is awesome! Out in the sun the holo was CRAZY, I was actually surprised how much it came out! I don't think my pictures do it justice at all!

The formula was pretty good, it was gorgeous in 2 coats...however it never seemed to dry on me. The very last picture in this post is from the day after the first few and you can see the sheet marks I got while sleeping, which I didn't do until probably 8 hours after applying this. I even added another coat of the polish in hopes that you wouldn't be able to see the sheet marks but it didn't work. The not drying thing has never happened with any of the other Glitter Gal polishes I have so maybe I just need to change up the base coat I used or something. Either way, gorgeous polish!

Artificial Light, this is more accurate to how the holo actually looked!
Glitter Gal is now available on Overall Beauty for $14.95 a bottle. I know you guys know who Overall Beauty is, they sell BB Couture! My wallet weeps now that Kim also sells Glitter Gal, if she ever sells Ozotic my wallet will just surrender to her lol!

The Painted Nail Beware of You & H-Bomb

Good morning!! Hope you all had a good night! Did anyone watch the Hells Kitchen finale? I don't know why, but I kind of love that show. It's pretty awful but I sit here and watch it every season anyway!

Today I have for you guys 2 of the polishes I bought during my visit to The Painted Nail. I have had my eye on 4 shades from The Painted Nail for ages, like seriously for almost a year now. A while back (October of 2010, I think?) Hayley from Paramore posted about how she had named these on her Tumblr It literally took me like an hour to find that post LOL. Hayley also posted about The Painted Nail  here, figured I'd post that too since it took me a bazillion years to find. It was the first time I had heard of The Painted Nail, it was before I heard anything about them doing the Nail Failes reality show. Anyway, the point of that rambling is that I am a giant Hayley/Paramore fan and all 4 polishes she named went directly onto my *need* list. Then I kept waffling on buying them, they are a bit expensive compared to what I can buy Nubar for around here. I had convinced myself I didn't need them until I saw them in person at Cosmoprof in Vegas at the end of July. Finally I was able to actually get my paws on these when I went to The Painted Nail!

Whew, was that enough story for you? I actually got this combo on my toes for my pedicure at The Painted Nail and I'm wearing it on my fingers right now.....this matching mani/pedi thing for me is very very rare! Beware of You is a rich dark green creme. A nice forest-y green! I'm a green freak so I would have liked this one no matter what. Fantastic formula, on this. If you wear it alone I would suggest 2 coats, if you are layering over it you are more than good with 1 coat! I used 2 coats for the photo below.

H-Bomb is the companion polish to Beware of You, it is very fine green and gold glitter in a clear base. There is also a bit of chunkier green glitter sprinkled in there but you can't really see it in person. This is dense enough that you could put on 3 coats have it be pretty opaque, but it's also really great for layering. I used 1 coat of H-Bomb over Beware of You for the photos below!

Macro over Beware of You, in the Shade
Over Black in the Sun!

You can buy The Painted Nail polishes on their official website here, they retail for $12.50 each. I'm not sure if they ship internationally or not

Layla Magneffect Giveaway!

Hey guys I've teamed up with Planet Beauty for another great giveaway! This morning I posted 2 more of the awesome Layla Magnetic Polishes and now you have a chance to win 2 of them!

For the Rules and How to Enter please click the Read More button below!

Layla Magneffect Blue Grey Flow & Silver Galaxy

Good Morning, hope you all had a good weekend! Mine was pretty relaxing which is always nice! Today I have a couple more of the Layla Magneffect Magnetic polishes for you! I'm also really excited to let you guys know that if you live in California you will be able to find these in actual stores! My favorite beauty supply store, Planet Beauty will be carrying these! If you have a store near you this is great news, I know I'm not the only one who prefers buying polish in person instead of online! If you are in California and want to look for these at Planet Beauty I would call your local store and make sure they have them in stock already!

First up is Blue Grey Flow, I really like this one! The darker sections after you use the magnet are a gorgeous dark navy and the lighter sections are a silvery grey. The contrast is gorgeous! The formula was great, almost a one coater. I ended up doing two coat for full coverage!

Silver Galaxy is probably my favorite of the Layla Magneffect polishes. I saw this at Cosmoprof and was so intrigued buy it. In the bottle before you use the magnet it's a really pretty silvery grey with square silver glitter. I didn't know they could put glitter and magnetic polish together, but man it is awesome! I think the name is very fitting also, the glitter really gravitated to the darker parts after using the magnet and it does kind of look like a galaxy! If you want easy to do space looking nails this could be the polish for you! The formula on this one wasn't as opaque as the other polishes like this that I've tried. I used 2 coats for the photos below but at certain angles I could see my nail line. I layered this over a dark blue when I got it and it looked fantastic that way, layering this could be very cool!

Layla Magneffect polishes are available at Planet Beauty stores, and online at Ave You for $15.50 each and Amazon for $15.50 each, it looks like there are other etailers with these, but I'v never shopped with them so I'm not sure how reliable they are.
