Good Morning!! Happy hump day :) I can't believe it's Wednesday already, this week is going fast thanks to the holiday on Monday! Today I have something a lot of you have been asking for since I posted about magnetic polish being at Cosmoprof! It seems like magnetic polish is trying to come over to the US. I hope that this become a new trend because I love this stuff!
This is not the first brand of magnetic polish I've owned, but it is the first I've tried. Layla is a little bit different than some of the other brands out there like LCN or Essence where the magnets are separate. The magnet is actually attached to the cap on these, on one hand I really like that...I'll never lose the magnet. On the other hand it's a little awkward to use at first. The color I'm showing you today is called Velvet Groove, it's dark purpley red. The polish was on the thick side, you can get away with 1 coat on these, I used 2 but 1 is possible.
There is a bit of a learning curve with magnetic polishes, once you paint on your polish you immediately hold the magnet over the nail while the polish is still wet to create the design. This is actually the 4th or 5th time I've tried to swatch this. You have to hold the magnet as close to your nail as possible for the best effect, about 95% of the time that means I hit my nail with the magnet haha! Once I got the hang of it I was better though.I really like the stripes magnet that comes on all of the bottles, depending on how you hold it your lines can go vertical, horizontal or angled, I like them best angled but they look really cool all 3 ways!
I am so in love with this stuff, you cannot tell from my pictures but some of my nails almost looked 3d! I was told at the Layla booth that they will be coming out with more magnets (A star and a moon is what I was told), I don't know when that will happen or if you will be able to buy them separately, but I am really looking forward to that. If you have the LCN magnets they will work on these also so you can also get the star magnet from there in the meantime!
The photos below were taken in the shade, I do have a topcoat on. If you topcoat these you need to give them a little bit of time to dry or you'll smudge the design, which I learned the hard way!
These are available to buy on Ave You for $15.50 each and Amazon for $15.50 each, it looks like there are other etailers with these, but I'v never shopped with them so I'm not sure how reliable they are. I've also heard that some people have found these at Walgreens. I have not personally seen them at any Walgreens near me so I'm not sure how much the retail for there.
