Orly Holiday 2011 Holiday Soireé Collection Swatches!

Good Morning! Today I have Orly's Winter/Holiday Collection for you guys! I originally saw this for the first time at Cosmoprof in Vegas. Initially only one polish from this collection caught my eye, I was interested to see if I might be more excited about the rest once I saw them in person. I'll be talking more about that after the cut!

For photos and reviews of each shade click the Read More button below.

Androgynie is a smoky black jelly filled with gold and silver glitter and chunky hex glitter. When I saw this at Cosmoprof I was blown away, it is gorgeous in the bottle. I'm kind of torn about whether or not I like it on the nail. On one hand I really like it but on the other I feel like the black base eats a lot of the awesome glitter. Next time I wear this I will probably layer it over black, I think it might help it out a little bit. The formula was okay, my main issue was that I had to sit at my desk and shake this sucker for about 10 minutes before I could put it on. All the glitter had sunk to the bottom and it didn't want to leave there. Once the glitter cooperated it was easy to work with. I used 2 coats for the photos below, for future I would either wear 3 coats of this on it's own or layer it over black.

Au Champagne is a shimmery white. I didn't think much of this until I got it on but it is gorgeous! It's one of those white polishes that is actually wearable. The shimmer in this is gorgeous and the polish dries to a satin matte so it really brings it out. Au Champagne reminds me of a polish that would have been part of the Wishes Collection that Misa put out earlier this year! If you liked that Misa Collection you will love this. This was easily my favorite polish out of this collection. It was a little thick going on but it was easy to apply. I used 2 coats for the photo below.

Ingenue is purple toned pink with a golden shimmer. Yes, we have seen this what...3 times already this year? Maybe more, honestly I've lost count. If you have OPI Rally Pretty Pink or Zoya Faye you can pass on this. Formula wise it was like it's twins, a 3 coater.

Shade, a little blurry...sorry about that

Le Chateau is a very very dark blue creme, almost a jelly....a crelly? I thought this was black until I put it on, then after I put on 2 coats I thought it was black again. The only proof that it was blue was around the edges. I wish it was a little more apparent that this was blue, 99.99999% of the time it just looked black, even out in direct sunlight. The formula was good, I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Ma Cherie is a cherry red jelly. Pretty but not very exciting, I really don't have much to say about it unfortunately. The formula was good, I used 3 coats for the photos below. In person you could see a little bit of nail line but not enough that it bothered me.

Oui is a purple packed with golden shimmer. Another we have seen before, this one is very similar to OPI It's My Year. I'm not sure if they are dupes but probably close enough to not need both. I will do a comparison should I ever find my bottle of Its My Year, I am in desperate need of another Helmer so I literally have polish all over my house and I can't find anything :( lol! The formula was a bit thin and sheer I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Shade

Overall, this collection get a big meh from me. Androgynie and Au Champagne are the only 2 I'm excited to have. The others are either boring or have been done several times this year. I really liked those golden shimmer packed shades until we got like 14 of them around the same time. What do you guys think? Will you be picking up any polishes from this collection?

I'm not sure when you will see this collection start to pop up at stores like Sally Beauty Supply and Ulta. I found it at a local place that puts stuff out early. Last time I looked it wasn't up on any of the etailers I usually check out :( Hopefully it's up soon if there are any you are lemming from this collection!

  10. I felt pretty blah about this collection as well. And I agree with your statement about Androgynie and Au Champagne. They are the only two that really did anything for me. I will probably pick up Au Champagne because I think it will look awesome with a crackle layered over it.

  11. i actually really like oui (i don't have it's my year) and le chateau, i'm hoping i'll be able to afford to pick them up when the collection is out! i'm a big fan of orly in general, so as far as dupes go, i'd almost rather have the orly formula- if that makes sense! cheers!

  12. I picked up Androgynie and Ouija. Androgynie definitely looks better layered over black. Now I wish I'd bought the white one too.

  14. @Jenn Staz

I think the only reason I am disappointed but it is because it looks so much better in the bottle...I was expecting the glitter to stand out a bit more! It is pretty though!

  18. I was looking forward to Androgynie but it is kind of a disappointment. Thanks for the great swatches!

  19. I'm with you on this one! Although Au Champagne reminds me of Old Queen Street by Nails Inc.

  20. yay, thanks for the swatches, gorgeous. I don't know why people are disappointed in Androgynie. It's gorgeous and the prettiest polish this year. Now, I don't have it yet, but it looks amazing and if I have to shake the bottle, so what? You have to shake/ roll Royal Navy as well, but it's so worth it and it's one of my fav polishes ever. I also love Oui (my It's my Year is only a shade darker than Faye) because it looks more purple. Other than that - I like the white and the red is pretty but not that unique. The almost black blue does nothing for me as well.

  21. I like Androgynie - it's like a black glitter sammich! As for the others...they're just meh. Not too impressed - especially for a holiday collection.

  22. I confess I am bummed. Though that blue cries out to be made into a jelly!!

  23. I actually really like all I them, the only one that doesn't interest me is the red, boring. I can't get enough of gold shimmers.

  24. Androgynie and Oui look great :)

  25. One more for Androgynie and I love Ingenue too! ;)

  26. I'm really excited for Au Champagne, which really surprises me because I've never been remotely interested in a white nail polish before.

  27. Androgynie is pretty; sorta looks like a jelly sandwich. I really like Au Champagne too. But I agree that the rest are kinda meh. Which is actually very good for my wallet. :)

  28. hmmm...Ingenue looks suspiciously like Rockin' Rocket but with a pinker base...

  29. Androgynie is beautiful. I'm kind of underwhelmed with the rest of the collection. I've seen all the other colors before by other companies. It feels like Orly developed Androgynie and just threw it in the collection to have an even number of colors--it sticks out like a sore thumb. Thanks for the beautiful swatches!

  30. I am slightly disappointed in Androgynie! I thought I was absolutely going to die over it but I'm sort of "meh." The white is gorgeous though, that was surprising as well.

  31. Au Champagne is gorgeous, but it looks close to my China Glaze Frosty. Androgynie is also pretty, just a little sad that there isn't more of the hexagon glitter showing up. Oui and Ingenue aren't that exciting to me because we've already seen these colors so many times. The whole collection doesn't seem all that unique, so that being said I'll probably just pick up Androgynie, and possibly Au Champagne if it isn't a dupe.

  32. Au Champagne is the only one of these that really gets my attention. I'm always drawn to shades like it, though I don't really wear them that much.

  34. I picked up the mini set of three from Sally Beauty. It included Oui, Ma Cherie & Androgynie which I can't wait try.

  35. Androgynie  looks so great on you. I am wearing it right now and see almost NO glitter on my nails. I guess I wasn't as patient as you were.
I find it stinks to high heavens too. I almost passed out LMAO!
