Orly Stone Cold vs. OPI Swimsuit...Nailed It

Good Morning, Happy Friday!! Anyone have fun plans for this weekend? I sure as heck do! Tomorrow I'm meeting up with a couple of bloggers and going to The Painted Nail!! Ahh I am so excited! I can't wait to be sipping a yummy cocktail while getting my pedicure!

Today I have a comparison for you guys, a very requested one even!! When I posted the Orly Mineral Fx Collection swatches a lot of people asked to see Stone Cold compared to OPI Swimsuit...Nailed it! I wanted to do this one so badly but couldn't find my bottle of Swimsuit..but I finally found it!! Alright so, are they dupes? Nope...they are sort of similar in sunlight. The Orly is much more of a glitter and the OPI is a shimmery foil. In sunlight the base colors look pretty close but you can still tell the finish is different. In the shade you can really see the difference between these two, both in base colors and in the finish. I really like the formula on both, both are full coverage in 2 coats!  Do you need both? If you like blue, I think yes...I'm happy to own both, they are gorgeous!

  1. opi! I approve the sparkle rather than the chunky glitter of the Orly.

  3. Pretty, blue is my fav colour and I have to say I think both colours look great :)

  4. I agree that OPI is much better... Iprefer the cleaness of that one as opposed to the chunkiness to the Orly... XOXO

  5. I have both of these but have yet to try the orly! Now I don't need to- yuck! So I'll be sharing that one for sure! The OPI is awesome!

  6. I have both, they are just two different finishes of a great blue!!
I love foils, though, so OPI gets a bump up.

  7. I have so many finishes like Swimsuit that Orly gets the big hurray for me. I have and love both, and it's super interesting to see them side-by-side like that.

  8. The Painted Nail?! I'm so jealous!! I hope you have a great time. As for these polishes, I like the OPI way more than the Orly - the latter looks so bumpy.

  9. Whew, so glad to know these aren't the same since I just ordered Swimsuit.

  10. I really don't know if I need the Orly one, even though it's still super pretty because of the finish it has. I already have Swimsuit, so even if they're different, I still don't know if I need both.

  11. Not that similar finally!
I prefer the opi one I admit

  12. Awesome comparison. I own Swimsuit and love it, and I am currently looking to buy some of the Orlys. Stone Cold was on my *NEED!* list. I don't know if I *NEED!* it now though. It's really gorgeous and I love that particular shade of blue a lot but...my collection is bursting at the seams and "similar" is starting to feel like "dupe" for me personally. Thanks so much for doing this! :D

  13. Both look yummy, but I feel the Orly polish has more blue intensity. Can I ask where people are getting the Orly Mineral FX polish? I looked at the Orly website and it's not even available there. I'd appreciate the assistance since Orly is one of my favorite brands. Thx!

  14. I thought these 2 were dead on the same shade until I saw the first swatches of Orly's and knew it had all the chunky to it. Thanks for the side by side on these.

  16. OMG, now I want the Orly one so badly... I just love the effect!

  17. I'm liking the OPI just because it looks smoother. But, tomorrow I could really be into bling and would pick Orly.

  18. how about the staining on both? a few days ago I swatched swimsuit and i had major stains after the 5 minutes I had it on (with basecoat...)

    have a great weekend!

  19. @Crystal

Neither stained on me, but I doubled up on basecoat for both. I always worry about blue staining so I double basecoat automatically just in case :)

  20. Thanks for comparing this two! I've been look fore a comparison since forever and I'm so glad that you did one! Which one has the harder removal? I read somewhere that Stone Cold is difficult to remove, like a glitter polish.

  21. @Priscilla

Hmm stone cold removed like a shimmer for me, nothing like removing glitter. Can't say I preferred one over the other in terms of removal
