Today I have for you guys Essie's Cocktail Bling Collection for Winter 2011. This is just half of what they are putting out. I am personally more excited for their Luxeffects but these are gorgeous also! All 6 polishes in this collection are cremes and perfect for winter!
For more pictures and reviews of each shade click the Read More button below!
Bangle Jangle is a soft dusty lilac. I really love this shade, however I had some problems with the formula on this one. It didn't want to level itself out. I swatched it a couple times thinking it was just me applying the polish poorly but it did it everytime :( You can really see what I mean on my middle finger in the second picture. I used 2 coats for the photos below.
Bobbing for Baubles is a rich navy. I adore this one, are we surprised by that? haha! This shade seems to be pretty hot for Fall/Winter this year! The formula on this one was great, I used 2 coats for the photos below. It dried super shiny as you can see in the first photo with the trees and whatnot reflecting on my nails!
Brooch The Subject is a beige nude. I can't decide if this works with my skintone or not, when I was wearing it I loved it...now looking at the pics, not so much. This could be a fantastic mannequin hands type of polish for someone, it kind of looks like I'm wearing liquid foundation on my nails. The formula was pretty good on this one, a little streaky on the first coat but it evened out on the second. I used 2 coats for the photos below.
Cocktail Bling is a very greyed out blue. This one is a bit of a minx, depending on the light it either looked very blue or very grey. I love shades like this, you have to give them a second look. The formula on this was great, 2 easy coats!
School Of Hard Rocks is a dusty blue green. This is my favorite of the collection, I like it so much that I'm thinking I might need a backup bottle...I'm so glad I got this in a full size bottle and not a mini like some from this collection. Great formula on this one also, I used 2 coats!
Size Matters is a bright blue toned red. meh, it's red...it's been done about a bazillion times. Do I need another...no. I do laugh at the name of it though, good enough reason for me to own it I suppose. The formula was good, 2 coats!
So what do you guys think? My favorites are School of Hard Rock, Bobbing for Baubles and Cocktail Bling! The other three polishes I could live without! I think this collection is fab for winter, I do love all the dusty shades! I really enjoy what Essie has been putting out lately! I hope they continue putting out great collections!
The Cocktail Bling Collection is available now! I bought mine on http://www.nailsupplies.us/. I have also seen this collection out already at Target and Rite Aid. Since I saw it at Rite Aid I would guess that all the other drugstores would have it out also, or should soon!

I'm sorry but these colors are so boring... . I'm looking forward to the Luxeffects polishes though! Great swatches, but I'm not going to buy.
ReplyDeleteI have bobbing for baubles, size matters and love school of hard rocks the most!
ReplyDeleteI just hauled some Essie earlier this morning and I should have waited. I really like Cocktail Bling now!
ReplyDeleteI like nude!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Size matters is one of the prettiest reds I've seen in a long time. And it's beautiful on you for sure! I too love School of Hard Rock.
ReplyDeleteSchool of Hard Rocks is on its way to me now! I'm so glad I ordered it -- it looks gorgeous here! How does Bobbing for Baubles compare to Chanel Blue Rebel, btw?
ReplyDeleteI don't own that Chanel...$29 a bottle is way too expensive for my taste so I passed on it lol. Hopefully someone that owns both can do a comparison for you!
ReplyDeleteSo far I got School of Hard Rocks and Bobbing for Baubles from this collection, though now I'm thinking I need Cocktail Bling. :D I love shades like that! And yep, I too am super excited for the Luxeffects. I'm nervously awaiting the release like my life is depending on owning them all, lol! XD I need them!
ReplyDeleteThese were on sale for $4 each (plus shipping) on Transdesign.com so I bought them all. Really pretty but not super exciting.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm looking for a cheaper alternative! Maybe the Nubar dupes will suffice. Thanks anyway!
ReplyDeleteI think I saw a comparison on ALU and they were pretty close!
ReplyDeleteI love Bangle Jangle! I just swatched that one for my blog. Would love if you could follow me :)
ReplyDeleteI love school of hard rocks, such a nice color!
ReplyDeleteI really love this collection by Essie, all the colors are fabulous. And I continually giggle at the name of Size Matters. Because I'm cool like that. ;}
ReplyDeleteI have looked at this and nothing really grabs me about any of them. I have a huge space problem right now for my stash and and not buying just to collect unless the shades really grab me and are going to get wear as well as give me something I don't have something like in shade/finish. The blue-green and the mulberry shades are the only ones that really interest me. I think I will pass and wait for their holiday collection.
ReplyDeleteI love this collection! It is soo beautiful! I am not a fan of reds, so I'm gonna skip this one, but it still is pretty. Yes, I'm calling a boring red which belongs to a color group I don't like, pretty. Because it is.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is bobbing for baubles, followed by bangle jangle, followed by cocktail bling ;) then school of hard rocks, then the nude one and the red one.
I got BfB, BJ and CB today in the mail :))
Now the most difficult thing is, which will I wear first ...
I really like Bobbing for Baubles & Size Matters, but I feel like I have polishes very similar. If possible, can you compare BfB with China Glaze First Mate? Seems like BfB is a little dustier but I can't tell. Thank you for posting these!
ReplyDeleteI picked up "Bobbing for Baubles" even though I feel like I have something pretty similar. I couldn't remember what that might be, so I decided not to take the risk (first world problems, anyone?) of missing out on it!
ReplyDeleteI loved "School of Hard Rocks" but when I held the bottle to my hand it really highlighted the greener tones of the veins on the back of my hand. Possibly not the most flattering thing in the world, but for some reason I still sort of liked it. I'll probably cave in and get it next time.
I nearly pulled the trigger on "Size Matters." At first glance it reminds me of the CG metro collection's "City Siren," which looked great on me in theory (bottle against hand) but somehow had a brown tinge on my actual nails. May have to give this one a try. Thanks for the swatches!
I have school of hard rocks and cocktail bling. LOVE! Now I'm thinking I should have gotten bobbing for baubles too. It's completely gorgeous on you!
