Color Club Backstage Pass Collection Swatches!

Good morning, happy Friday! Anyone have fun plans this weekend? I don't! The only thing I'm looking forward to is a mad dash to buy concert tickets at 10am this morning. I'm really looking forward to doing absolutely nothing other than that! Apparently it's supposed to rain so it will be a nice chance to stay home and relax instead of running around like a crazy person like I usually end up doing.

Anyway, today I have the Backstage Pass Collection from Color Club to show you guys! I saw this at Cosmoprof back in July and was really excited about. What can I say, I love glitter!

Click the Read More button below for more pictures and reviews of each shade!

Backstage Pass is large silver and purple hex glitter with a sprinkle of small silver glitter in a clear base. I had some issues with this, it was kind of hard to apply. I couldn't get a lot of glitter on the brush and then when I did it didn't want to go on the nail how I would have liked it to. I do like how it looks once I finally got it on, I just wish it had been easier to apply. I used 1 coat over China Glaze Winter Berry for the photos below.

Fame & Fortune is large flakes of holographic glitter in a sheer pink jelly base. If you liked the Covered in Diamonds polish that Color Club put out a while back you will love this. I tried to wear it on it's own and didn't love it. I do like it layered (however the combo I'm showing isn't my favorite lol). This was SO pretty in the sun, I wish I could have gotten a good photo of it that way but my camera was not having that. To get a good feel of how the flakies look check out the bottle in the pictures below! I used 1 coat over China Glaze Icicle for the photos below.

It's A Hit! is purple hex glitter in a clear base. It's the same purple glitter that is in Backstage Pass! Formula wise it had the same problems, it was hard to apply. I used 1 coat over Deborah Lippmann Footloose for the photos below.

Platinum Record is large silver hex glitter and small silver glitter in a clear base. Its like Backstage Pass with the purple hex glitter taken out. Same application problems, I either couldn't get anything on my brush or I would get way too much then it would get all bunched up in one spot. It looks all kind of crazy on my middle finger but I kind of love it. I have 1 coat over China Glaze Holly-Day for the photos below.

Take The Stage is medium gold glitter and large holographic flakes of glitter in a clear base. Out of the whole collection this was the most opaque but it was hard to apply too. It kept wanting to get all bunched up as you can see very well on my middle nail. I used 1 coat over Deborah Lippmann Dancing In The Sheets for the photos below.

Wish Upon A Rock Star is medium sized multicolored glitter and large silver hex glitter in a clear base. If you like Happy Birthday or any of it's many dupes you'll like this. Out of the whole collection this is my favorite...mostly because it was the only chunky glitter I didn't have problems applying. I used 1 coat over Duri Bewitched for the photos below.

Overall, I'm torn. I love the glitter but they were such a pain to apply that I feel like it takes away from how great they are. Hopefully I can play around with these more and figure out how to get them on easier or something!

The Backstage Pass Collection is available now, I've seen it on a couple etailers already like Victorias Nail Supply. I'm not sure if it's been found at Ross or not but if you have a store near you it might be worth checking!

  3. To me, this collection is such a failure. :( Even on your perfect nails and your always precise application the polish looks sloppy. That's just something I can't have on my nails. A pity, when I saw the promo photos I was really excited about them!

I'm calling "meh" on these.  I like a good glitter, but these just seem messy to me.  I can see them being popular over the holidays, though.

  5. I think the glitter is a bit different in the two but they might be close to enough to not justify both.

I'm buying tickets to see a band called Sugarcult!

  6. Nothing earth shattering here for me which is good since I have to mail order this brand - it's nowhere around where I live. Plans for the weekend? Getting the last things packed up for my 4 weeks off out of the area for surgery and a long post op stay close by the surgeon once I am discharged until he lets me leave treatment and head home - he said plan 4 weeks like it was last time - so I have to think and finish packing up to leave Tues early AM.

  7. I agree that these polishes are just sort of underwhelming.  I am glad to see them here, so I won't have to be dissappointed IRL. :)

  8. Meh. I'm too lazy to layer polishes over one another. If it can't do it by itself, I'm usually uninterested. :\

  9. This collection is really not my cup of tea. The glitters look great in the bottle but their application would drive me nuts! I already have Covered in Diamonds which is a PITA to apply. Plus it takes a lot of top coat to get a smooth surface without glitter sticking out...

  10. would you be upset if i confessed this is the first collection that you swatch & i hate ? its not you, its the polish, to me they all look cheap!

  11. Thank you for the swatches! Even though I normally love glitter, these are just don't look good. Such a disappointment! :(

  12. I'm semi-impressed because I haven't seen too many of these kinds of glitters, and I definitely don't have very many that are similar. I'm not a fan of Color Club because the polish chips recklessly, but if I can pick up the whole collection at Ross for 8 bucks, I'll give it a try.

  14. I kind of don't like any of them.  It sort of looks like a kids craft project

  16. I'm a glitter fanatic, but I really don't like these. They just look really odd and the large hexes don't look like they lay flat. It's really too bad - they could have been so amazing with some more tweaking.

  17. O que mais gostei foram Take The Stage e o Wish Upon A Rock Star que podem vir para minha lista de desejos logo!
Os outros achei que posso ter problemas a passar nas unhas.
    Mas valeu pelas dicas suas
Bjs e bom fim de semana

  19. I'm not a fan of the glitters, but I'm curious about which concert you got tickets to. :)

  20. I got tickets to see a band called Sugarcult! they are doing a special show for the 10th anniversary of one of my favorite albums called Start Static. It should be fun!

  21. I love glitter finishes more than any other but these were a let down to me.  Platinum Record looks very similar to Orna-minted (one of the Scent-suous Collection's glitter toppers).  The formula sounds the same too.  I found that adding a bit of thinner and using an application technique akin to spreading icing on a cake to help.  It was tricky to get the hex glitter not to stick and clump together.  I got super excited when I heard Take the Stage had flakes in it but the result on the nail was disappointing.  :/

I still want to get Fame & Fortune though!  It's so cool!  And I think I need Wish Upon a Rock Star now after seeing your pretty pics of it.  :D  LOVE it layered over Bewitched!  <3

  23. I really like the look of these glitters.  I might have to track a couple of these down.

Also, i just noticed there is a typo in the footer of your page.  It says, "theppolishaholic."

  24. I'm not feeling these giant hex glitters, at least not in polish form. I've found that with bigger glitters, I prefer to just buy the glitter by itself and then apply them individually, much like how you would apply rhinestones. You get a lot more control over where the glitters are placed and you don't have to worry about it bunching up.

Also, I don't know if this technique would work with these glitters, but when I use Wet n' Wild Party of Five Glitters, I load up the brush kind of heavily and then pat it onto the nail. If I let the coats dry completely before applying the next one, it dries flat and isn't bumpy or anything. Maybe that would work with these?

  25. That's a good idea, I'll try out that technique!

  26. I managed to pick this collection up at Ross for $7.99 but 2 of the polishes were missing (Platinum Record and Take the Stage) so I got it for $5.
