Good morning! Hope you all had a good Halloween, I watched Ghost Hunters Live last night, well most of it anyway lol. I only watch because I have a little crush on Steve that I can't explain!
Today I have the Muppets Collection from OPI to show you guys, I know this is very much anticipated. I've been looking forward to it for months, I grew up watching the Muppets so this is pretty awesome. I need some companies to do polish collections of other cartoons I loved as a kid, maybe someone can do a Jem collection that was full of holo's, that would pretty much rule. Anyway, back to Muppets...this collection serves as OPI's Holiday Collection for this year and coincides with the movie coming out on November 23rd.
Click the Read More button below for a bunch of pictures and reviews of each shade!
Animal-istic is a bright shimmery red! I really love how this one looked in the shade, the shimmer was gorgeous! Formula wise it was great, 2 coats for full opacity!

Designer De Better is a silver foil with little specks of bonze in there as well. I have a lot of foil polishes but nothing quite like this. The bronze shimmer makes this look really interesting. My only complaint, removal was a pain! The formula was great, I used 2 coats for the photos below!

Divine Swine is small magenta glitter and large silver hex glitter in a clear base. I wanted SO badly to like this and the other similar looking glitters. The looked so promising in the bottles, but on the nail I just don't love it. It's just SO sheer, I thought these would be full coverage but they go on patchy. I know it will probably look great layered though. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Excuse Moi! Is multi colored hex glitter and small silver glitter in a berry red jelly base. Out of all the glitters this is really the only one I love. If all of the glitters looked like this I'd be over the moon about them! The formula on this one was great, a little thick but it was opaque in 2 coats!

Fresh Frog of Bel Air is small green glitter and large silver hex glitter in a clear base. meh...I need to layer this because I 'm not a fan of it like this on it's own. Yeah...you heard me, I don't like something green....how unusual! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Gettin' Miss Piggy With It is small red glitter mixed with medium sized red hex glitter and large silver hex glitter in a clear base. I should have put it over one of the red shimmers in this collection, on it's own I don't love it. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Gone Gonzo is small bright blue glitter and large silver hex glitter in a clear base. I really love this shade of blue, just again...not on it's own like this. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Meep-Meep-Meep is a shimmer fuschia. Very similar to animal-istic but a lot more pink toned. Formula wise it was great, I used 2 coats for the photos below.
Pepe's Purple Passion is a purple-ish red with reddish shimmer peeking through. I'm torn on this one, on one hand I like it because it's unusual...on the other it reminds me of raisins...or prunes lol. The longer I had this one on the more I liked it, I love how the shimmer pokes through. The formula was good on this one also, 2 coats for full opacity.
Rainbow Connection is multi colored small glitter and multicolored hex glitter in a clear base. This one I didn't even try to layer haha! I used 1 coat over white for the photos below. It's pretty much exactly the same as Rainbow In the S-Kylie from the Kardashian Collection but I prefer the OPI version because the brush is better. No complaints on this one!

Warm & Fozzie is a mix of brown, yellow-ish and pink-ish glitter. It has a bit of a duochrome to is, especially in the shade. I love this one, I kept starting at the polish on the brush...the mix is so interesting! Formula wise it was a little bit sheer, I used 3 coats for full opacity.
Also, my pictures on my computer look a little blurry so I didn't make them huge like the rest...sorry about that!

Wocka Wocka! is another shimmery red. The shimmer in this one is different than the others, it makes me feel all Christmas-y for some reason haha! Formula wise this one was awesome...almost a 1 coater for me! I used 2 coats for the photos below!
Overall, I'm a bit let down by this collection. It's a lot of reds and glitters that disappointed me. My only must haves are Warm & Fozzie and Excuse Moi. I guess I just feel like there was SO much OPI could have done with something like The Muppets. I may change my opinion once I wear the glitters layered, fingers crossed!
This limited edition promotion will be available beginning November 2011 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $8.50 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each Nail Lacquer.
Wow, the collection is amazing! ♥
ReplyDeleteeu amei essa coleção!

You have the bestest swatches Jen!
ReplyDeleteI must be on overload. The only one I really want from these is Warm and Fozzie! Seriously. Your photos have convinced me, so I'm actually a bit glad.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they'll have Ulta exclusive shades this Christmas?
I have Excuse Moi and love it. But on me it chipped really bad, in huge chunks. Like, a few times the polish on my whole pinkie peeled off! I've never had that problem with any other polish. Its a shame cuz it's super pretty.
ReplyDeleteThose polishes are amazing.. Designer De Better and Warm&Fozzie are my favourites.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I loved Excuse Moi and Warm and Fozzie. But because there was a sale (3 for $15) I got Rainbow Connection too. Excuse Moi is simply gorgeous. I stare at it all the time but haven't put it on because I've been doing Halloween manis. Think I need to finally put this on.
ReplyDeleteSo glittery!!! Your nail swatches are divine! Guess I'm gonna have to stock up on aluminum foil! LOL
ReplyDeleteYour swatches are amazing! But honestly, I'm really disappointed in this collection. Half the shimmers look like colors from the Burlesque collection, and the glitters (save for Excuse Moi) are things that I could easily franken. Rainbow Connection, at this point, is so unoriginal it makes me sad.
ReplyDeletethanks ♥
ReplyDeletenah...I feel the same way. You should get Excuse Moi too though, i think you'd regret it if you didn't lol! I realllllly hope they do Ulta Exclusives again this year!
ReplyDeleteI hate when that happens! It might be whatever top coat you used that caused it to peel off like that. Sometimes Seche Vite does that to me
ReplyDeleteGlad you like them!!
ReplyDeletedang, that's a great deal!
ReplyDeleteLOL, oh yeah...you'll definitely need it! Those glitters were no bueno to remove
ReplyDeleteThanks ♥
ReplyDeleteI'm disappointed also, pretty much for the same reasons as you :(
I agree with you on this collection. I was so excited about the glitters because I was hoping I could wear them by themselves... they're really fun layered though so that kind of saved the day! Excuse Moi and Warm and Fozzie are my favorites. I didn't even get all of the glitters.... I was hoping for so much more :(
ReplyDeleteGlitters are awesome! default394 {"method":"validate","params":[],"id":1,"jsonrpc":"2.0"}
ReplyDeleteSO PURTY. I really appreciate your thumbnail collage at the top to show the entire collection. I have to ask - what's your favorite white polish? I am so in love with that glittery one over the white but have picked up some major fails for white polish.
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm so excited that your swatches are up--- I was hoping to see them. I think I'll be getting Animal-istic, if only for the name. Warm and Fozzie is another favorite =)
ReplyDeletelol! The names of these polishes are so great!
ReplyDeletethanks!
ReplyDeleteI really like OPI Alpine Snow and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On. Those are my 2 go to's, I usually just use whichever I can find first!
I can explain your crush on Steve, hes super sexy! see how easy that was. Steve and Tango together are cuteness/hilarity overload! LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteLOL I am so glad someone else gets it! I love those 2, they really are the only reason I ever watch the show!
ReplyDeleteI was searching your site the other day looking for swatches!!! lol I really wished they put Fresh Frog of Bel Air in a green jelly base... Ditto with Gone Gonzo. Very pretty otherwise!
ReplyDeleteI actually really liked the glitters in this collection!! Try layering them especially Fresh Frog of Bel Air looks amazing layered on a darker metallic green,I promise :)
ReplyDeleteHow do you think Animal-istic compares to Love is a Racket?
ReplyDeleteGha! Drooling over all of them!!
ReplyDeletewww.mythirftychic.blogspot.com
I'm not sure, I'll check and see if it's similar!
ReplyDeleteI'll try that!
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I wanted. I wish all the glitters would have been in a jelly base like Excuse Moi is, they would have been SO much better that way
ReplyDeleteI have designer de better, warm and fozzie, and rainbow connection, and I love them all. I am not a huge red fan so I didn't get any other the others, but excuse moi! does look interesting.
ReplyDeleteThe new Color Club's foils from the Foiled collection work great as a base for these new OPI glitters! I have Divine Swine on Hot Like Lava right now and it's great - it shines like crazy and looks pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteI picked up Designer De Better from this and love it. Thanks for all the gorgeous swatches!
ReplyDeleteI like that collection and especially Pepe's Purple Passion that I think I am going to buy soon, it's quite special, I don't have anything like it.
ReplyDeleteMeep-Meep-Meep and Pepe's Purple Passion are my faves. I know they aren't much different from what already exists, but they are pretty girlie colors ;0). Just what I like. Don't know that I'm impressed enough to run out and get them though.
ReplyDeleteI also was not impressed at all with this collection, especially the glitters! Rainbow Connection, Warm & Fozzie, and Excuse Moi! were the only 3 I purchases for my polish collection... I was hoping I'd like more :(
ReplyDeleteHilarious! I watch Ghost Hunters because I'm partially in love with Steve... And after seeing this collection all over the blog-osphere and in "Allure" magazine, I had to order the glitters. I should be getting them any day now! I'm super excited. Your post just made me more antsy! :P
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great review. I feel the same as you do about over all disappointment in the collection. It's not like Burlesque was last year and OPI did not need to repeat the 6 glitters/6 'others' like Burlesque had. I want the old holiday collections back. I was ready for disappointment on this one however for months since a Swedish blogger got her hands on the entire collection last July at an OPI Scandinavian conference. Her review was right in there with yours. I still think the glitters will sell out and be htf in a few years and still sought after just because folks will want the collection to save. I am not a saver anymore - ran out of room to do that long ago.
ReplyDeletePepe's Purple Passion and Meep-Meep-Meep are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI only watched Ghost Hunters Live for Josh Gates and Tango, haha. I love me some Josh Gates.
Designer de Better looks similar to Orly Rage from the foil collection. Do you think they're remotely close, or is DDB more bronze than Rage tends to be?
ReplyDeleteWhen I heard OPI was coming out with the Muppet Collection, I was super excited. After seeing your swatches, I'm not so excited anymore. Kind of disappointed :(
ReplyDeleteohhhhhh
ReplyDeleteRainbow over white nail polish is great combination
I love it

Hi Jen! I DO love your swatches, nice note in InStyle about you too, congrats!
ReplyDeleteI'm confused about the aluminum foil comment, what am I missing?
I love that you showed them all! For a Christmas effect I used Animalistic for a full nail tipped with Fresh Frog. I'm getting non-stop compliments and boy is it ever easy to touch up. It feels to me like they expected people to pair the glitters with the non-glitters in this collection. And I'm a muppet-fan who likes OPI, so there's the crossover. Don't have Rainbow yet, but I will. Gone Gonzo looks great on toes without any layering - just a couple of coats and it feels like sparkly holiday snow. Perfect for the season. Again forgiving of mistakes, etc.
ReplyDeletei used the Designer De better under Rainbow connection- and WOW!!! it is the most amazing mani i have ever had! I recieved so many compliments, mostly from complete strangers, and men!! I changed it today, and I have Excuse Moi, over a pink OPI shaede (i forgot the name of it) and its fabulous. The color under the muppet color seems to just intensify the glitter! I have Divine Swine on my toes, and its layered over a purple OPI shade and looks AAMAAAZZZING!
ReplyDeleteAt the beauty supply store where I bought my polish, Animal-istic was sold with Getting Miss Piggy with It ina gift pack. I was told to wear the Animal-istic as a base, with the red glitter on top. I did and couldn't believe the compliments I received!
ReplyDeletei had a pedi done at the spa and they used the getting piggy on top of one of the other reds and it looked like dorthy's red slippers and it lasted for well over a month
ReplyDeleteChecking out your swatches again as I was looking at OPI "The One That Got Away" and hankering after it when I suddenly thought that it might look like something I already have.....meep meep meep. Do you think it is similar?? x
ReplyDeleteThese are all great, I have the Glitter ones and Designer Do Better. Like any glitter nail varnish, you will need a base coat any to your choice will do but I like to use a Red polish for the red glitter, green under green glitter, blue under blue glitter etc. I use Designer Do better under my Disco Dolls, Crown me Alread and Rainbow Connection and it looks amazing! How you have the glitters on the bare nail looks great as I never even botheres to try it with out a base colour anyway I expected them to come out more bare looking anyway. I'd guess that in this collection (if you buy the whole lot) that the shimmer shades are designed to be used as a base for the glitter colours. Either way, I LOVE IT I LOVE OPI :)
