How To: Spice Up An Understated Mani!

Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a good weekend so far! I slept in now I'm finishing up Christmas shopping today. I have a fun, easy mani to show you today! I have been wearing a pretty but understated mani for the past couple days, white with flakies over. I decided I wanted to jazz it up a little bit, so I went searching around my nail stuff to see what I could find.

I came across a little jar of iridescent microbeads I got at Michael's a while back, I think they were like $3. I don't even know why I bought them...knowing me probably only because they were pretty. I put a coat of top coat on my ring finger and dipped my nail into the beads...it turned out SO pretty! It's still a nice understated mani but a little bit more exciting now! The rest of the fingers are CND Brilliant White with a coat of Essie Shine Of The Times over. This mani look awesome in person, it didn't photograph quite as nice. I did not put a top coat over the beads. I don't think they need it, they stick without it...how I am going to get them all off I have no idea lol!

I apologize in advance for my cuticles in these pictures...the weather lately has been awful for my hands :(

These are the beads I used!

  4. very cool! good idea to not use a topcoat over the beads, I think it could damage the AB finish on the beads

  5. Hee hee hee as soon as I saw the picture I wondered how it was getting the beads off later.  Maybe it won't be a problem because there's no topcoat over the beads...

  17. Immediate trip to Michael's is needed now. I rarely put a top coat on to keep beads n jewels *on* my nail but more to protect the beads from the way i bang my hands around. I'm rough on my mani's so that's the only reason i do it.

  18. They do come right off with acetone, I had a variation of this that my nail tech did called the " Ruby Slippers" pedicure. She embedded them onto the big toes only and they lasted for almost a month. She did put top coat over it though. Yours looks fantastic!!

  37. I clicked enter too soon! So I was saying it looks amazing and that i have lots of jars with several colors of those pears and you indeed inspired me!! I once did something with them, was kind of a stripe of pears but they tend to fall of a lot without tc and with tc i found a problem that was that the tc was swollen by the pearls, lol, was a mess. Anyway loved yours!! Kiss

  44. This gave me inspiration to go to my local craft store and shop around for stuff to put on my nails. I came across this stuff called crushed velvet flocking powder. Its normally used on paper to make it fuzzy and it has the same effect on nails! Seriously weird feeling, but definitely awesome and shocking. Officially obsessed!
