Nails Inc. Houses of Parliament

Good morning guys! Today I finally have one of the Nails Inc. magnetic polishes to show you! I picked this up at Sephora during the VIB sale they recently had. This one is called Houses of Parliament, it's a gorgeous purple magnetic polish! I LOVE magnetic polish, I wish pictures could capture how awesome it really is...it makes your nails look 3D! I hope magnetic polish is like the new crack polish so that every company will do it, especially the ones that make inexpensive polish...I love it but my wallet doesn't :( haha! The formula on this was really great, it's nice and opaque and goes on so smoothly! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

If you have never used or seen magnetic polish it's super easy to use. I put on 1 coat, let it dry then put on another coat. Immediately after painting the second coat on a nail I held the magnet over it for about 15 seconds. Super easy and fast!

Also, I wanted to mention....I love the magnet Nails Inc. is using on their magnetic polish. It is by far the most user friendly of the 4 brands I have tried (Layla, LCN & Essence are the other 3). It has a lip that you put where your cuticle is so you don't end up hitting your nail with the magnet. I put a picture of it at the end of the post so you can see what I'm talking about.

Nails Inc. magnetic polishes are available on Sephora.com and in Sephora stores, they are pricey at $16 each but I really love them! If you can only get one brand of magnetic polish I'd pick this one solely because of how easy the magnet is to use.

OPI Ulta Holiday 2011 Exclusives, Deck Your Nails Collection Swatches

Whew, how's that for a post title haha! Today I have the Ulta Holiday 2011 Exclusives from OPI, the collection is called Deck Your Nails! I saw these in store about a week ago and passed on all 3, they didn't wow me at all. Then the mini set was on sale for $7.99 on Black Friday so I decided I couldn't pass up that deal. Click the read more button below for swatches and reviews of each shade.

My Black Friday NOTD

Hi guys! Hope you all have a good Sunday, just a quick post today! I wore this out during my Black Friday shopping, I like it so much that I actually just re-did the mani since I took it off to swatch some stuff yesterday. It's never too early for a Christmas-y mani, right?!?

I did a glitter sandwich using Sally Hansen Smooth And Perfect in Fog and China Glaze Party Hearty. I'm a bit on the fence about that Sally Hansen, it's one of the new ones they just came out with, it's an off white with a bit of a shimmer. It's very sheer, I think it would probably take 4 coats to be opaque. I doubt I'll ever wear it that way, it's great for glitter sandwiches like this though! I really love this combo, I might wear it again for Christmas...we'll see!

Cult Nails Awakening & Hypnotize Me

Good morning! Today I have a couple more Cult Nails polishes to show you guys! Both of these were part of their Fall Hypnotic Collection. Also, in case you didn't already know Cult Nails is having an awesome sale this weekend (until November 28th!), all the polishes are $7.75 instead of $10....if you have been thinking about trying the brand now is a good time to purchase a couple!

Awakening is a dusty teal jelly...most of the reviews I've seen of this call it a creme but mine really seems like more a jelly. It was sheer and squishy...maybe I just got a weird bottle or it's just walking that creme/jelly line? Who knows, either way I love it! I used 2 coats for the photos below, if I was wearing this on it's own I'd probably do another coat.

Hypnotize Me is blue and green glitter in a very sheer geenish jelly base. I have seen this one on it's own and I wasn't a fan so I knew it would be a layering polish for me. This is absolutely gorgeous, pictures do it no justice. Formula wise it was very thick, I'd imagine that it would be hard to wear this on it's own because of that. It also dried a bit dull and had a tendency to eat top coat so you might need a couple coats! I used 1 coat of Hypnotize Me over Awakening for the photos below.

Butter London The Black Knight

Good morning! So did anyone else brave Black Friday yet? I sure as heck did, I went to Ulta and Target at midnight! Ulta was a breeze but jeez, Target was a nightmare. I walked around the store like 7 or 8 times looking for what I wanted and finally found it in the frozen food aisle (wtf!). Then I stood in line with all my stuff for like 45 minutes to pay. Thank god I decided to buy all the stuff I wanted from Best Buy online to avoid that craziness. I'm not done though, on my list today is Bath & Body Works...I'm hoping that won't be so bad.

Today I have Butter London The Black Knight to show you guys! Butter London is having a nice 30% sale right now until November 30th, the flyer thing for it is at the bottom of the post. The Black Knight is a glitter packed black. The glitter is dominantly pink and blue....it is so gorgeous! I love that the glitter is different sizes and really stands out in the black base. I really don't think I have anything like this thankfully! Formula wise, it was sheer and streaky....and a bit patchy. I needed 3 thick coats to even it out and get it opaque, I do think it was worth the trouble! It also dried a bit dull, I needed a couple coats of top coat to get it smooth and shiny!

Shade

The Black Night is available now, I picked mine at up Ulta....it was in a cute set with a pink glittery polish. You can also buy it on it's own on ButterLondon.com, don't forget to use the code above to save 30% through 11/30/11

Turkey Day Splatter!

Happy Thanksgiving! Hope all my US friends are having a nice Thanksgiving so far! Are you guys doing family stuff today? I'm not :) yes, happy face about that. Holidays and family time stress me out, I'm more than happy about doing nothing lol.

I got bored the other night and decided to do a little splatter, it's very fall-ish. I don't love this but not every mani can be a winner, right?!? Next time I think I need to do the orange as my base and use the mustard yellow for splatter instead. Anyway, I used Barielle Aura Angora for my base and the splatter is an old Essie called Vanity (the orange you can barely see) and Zoya Codie. Have a good Turkey Day everyone, and stay safe if you do Black Friday shopping...I'll be sad if I hear about one of you getting trampled over the last cheap TV or something haha!

Finger Paints Fun-Fetti

Hi guys, another quick post for today. This beauty got all lost in my drafted posts...poor thing :(

Finger Paints has recently put out a gorgeous multicolored/multi-sized glitter polish. Another wonderfully similar polish to Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday and all it's relatives. I don't care how many versions there are, I will love it every single time. This one doesn't seem to be an exact dupe to Happy Birthday, you can see a comparison on Polish Insomniac if you'd like...the mix of glitter is a tad bit different. I really loved the formula of Fun-Fetti, the glitter was nice and dense plus it was easy to apply!

I used 1 coat of Fun-Fetti over BB Couture Junk In The Trunk (I love the name of that polish.

Shade

Finger Paints are available at Sally Beauty Supply, Fun-Fetti retails for $4.99. I didn't see this at Sally's last time I was in a store but it is online here!

Nubar Jeans Collection Swatches

Happy Wednesday, it's my Friday today! I love four day weekends! Today I have the Nubar Jeans Collection to show you guys. They put these out a little bit ago, supposedly they are dupes to that Chanel Les Jeans de Chanel Collection that also came out a little while back. All I know, is they are pretty blues and I would have bought them either way lol! Click the read more button below for swatches and reviews of each shade!

Zoya Winter 2011 Feel Collection Swatches

Good morning guys! Another day, another collection....at least that's what it feel like around here lately! Today I have the Zoya Feel Collection for Winter, it's 6 gorgeous soft creme polishes. I was a bit on the fence with this collection until I got them and swatched them. I have such a soft spot for shades like this, they are muted enough to be appropriate for work and they are flattering on a variety of skin tones.

Essie Holiday 2011 Luxeffects Collection Swatches!

Good morning! Hope you all had a good weekend, it was all yucky and rainy here on Sunday. I actually didn't do much...it was nice! Today I have a collection I have been waiting very impatiently for, Essie's Luxeffects Collection! I have literally been calling the guy at the supply shop I go to every couple days for the last 3 weeks asking him about these. When I went to buy them on Friday the owner of the store was all happy for me that they finally got them in, I think he's glad I won't be calling like a stalker anymore haha!

Jessica Hologram Chic: Disco Diva

Happy Saturday! Today I have an amazing linear holo to show you! The Hologram Chic duo is brand new and limited edition from Jessica Cosmetics, it comes with an Aqua Base coat called Retro Revival and a gorgeous silver linear holo called Disco Diva. I saw this in the Jessica Cosmetic booth back at Cosmoprof in July/August and was unsure if it would be awesome or not. Even when I got it in the mail yesterday I was still on the fence, it looks like a dud in the bottle (which you can see in my pictures). Good news, once you get it on  HOLY HOLO! I would say this is just as good as the new version of Nfu Oh 61, not quite as holo as something like Gosh Holographic but I kind of like this more because the formula was better than either of those. I didn't have issues with balding on dragging while I was applying Disco Diva, not sure if that's because I used Retro Revival under it or not. I did use a very light touch when applying it, that might have also helped. Disco Diva is nice and opaque, I only needed 2 coats for full coverage. I did not use a top coat for the photos, it actually says on the box not to, haha!

Enough words, onto pictures. This is pretty picture heavy since I loved too many of them to not post them! As with most holos the effect is stronger in real life than in pictures! I've put everything after the first picture under a cut, I promise its worth clicking read more!

Ozotic 528

Happy Friday!! I can't wait for next week at this time, I've decided that I'm going to brave Best Buy for Black Friday...I fear for my life but mama needs a DSLR and a new external hard drive (plus whatever else I can knock people out of the way for) Anyone have fun plans this weekend? I DO!! I'm going to go see New Found Glory tonight, woohoo! I actually already saw them on this current tour a couple months ago but I have this problem that when I like a band I feel the need to go see them live every single time they are here. I call it investing in my memories haha!

Today I have an amazing Ozotic polish to show you guys, 528! I'm sure you have seen this beauty before! 528 is a multichrome glitter in a clear base, this glitter flashes a ton of gorgeous colors....teal, pink, purple, bright blue...I swear I see some yellow-y orange in there too at some angles. It's pretty much awesome, my favorite of the 3 like this. For the photos below I used 1 coat of 528 over OPI Black Onyx!

Ozotic is available on a few stores, OverallBeauty.com, shop.llarowe.comharlowandco.org and picturepolish.com.au all sell them! They are pricey but SO worth it in my opinion!

Color Club Sugar Plum Yum & Very Merry Berry

Good morning! Last night I went to the food trucks again (they are in the area every Wednesday night!), nom nom nom! I'm so lucky to live close to where we have a lot of them. I mentioned on Twitter yesterday that I'd be going and it seems like a lot of people don't have food trucks where they live, that sucks! There was a couple trucks there that you might recognize if you watch the food channel...like the Grill Em All truck and Crepes Bonaparte truck. The line for Grill Em All was a bit long so we ended up eating from a truck called Baconmania...I bet you can't figure out what they make. Surprise....everything wrapped in bacon or stuffed with bacon! I split a sandwich with the person I went with then we got some fries off the Spudrunner truck and they were delicious too! Can you believe that there is actually a gourmet french fry truck?!? lol! Then to top it all off we split an ice cream sandwich off a truck called Chunk-n-Chip...I suggest you all google their website and look at their menu...the pictures will make you drool. We had French Toast ice cream sandwiched with 1 snickerdoodle cookie and 1 chocolate brownie cookie. It was pretty much the most unhealthy and yummy dinner and desert ever!

Today I have 2 polishes to show you guys! Recently Sally Beauty put out a small holiday collection from Color Club, it's 6 scented polishes. I ended up buying these 2...the others seemed like things I already had so I passed on them. If you have a Sally's near you I suggest you try to find these ASAP that display at mine was TINY!

Sugar Plum Yum is purple hex glitter and small green glitter in a clear base. I'm not sure what the scent is suppose to be here, it just smells fruity to me. I love this combo, it's like Barney exploded on my nails haha! The formula was a bit tricky, it got bunched up in some spots but it doesn't really bother me too much. I used 1 coat of Sugar Plum Yum over Revlon Aloof for the photos below. I do have a top coat over the glitter in these pictures!

Shade

Shade

Very Merry Berry is magenta hex glitter and small bright blue glitter in a clear base. I'm not sure what his is supposed to smell like either...it also just smells fruity to me. This one was a lot easier for me to apply, it went on pretty evenly! I used 1 coat  of Very Merry Berry over BB Couture Feathered Vixen for the photos below. I did use a top coat, it needed it...if you want either of these smooth you will need a couple coats of top coat!

Shade

Both polishes are available now at Sally Beauty Supply, the collection they are in is exclusive to Sally's so you won't be able to find it anywhere else. I'm not sure how much these were, I'm thinking around $4 a bottle (I can't remember, so sorry!)

Models Own Beetlejuice Collection Compairsons

Good morning!! Today as promised, I have a bunch of comparisons of the Models Own Beetlejuice Collection polishes to show you! The only polish not compared is Emerald Black, I couldn't think of anything I have similar to it...if you guys can think of any let me know in the comments and I can compare them if I have the polish you suggest! I put most of this post under a cut, it's pretty picture heavy!

First up is Models Own Pinky Brown vs Mac Bad Fairy. I know every one was hoping this was a dupe, I sure was. I was lucky enough to get a bottle of Bad Fairy before it sold out last year but I completely regret not getting a back up. Unfortunately Pinky Brown is no dupe, same idea though so if you like one you'll probably like the other. Different enough in my opinion to own both. Pinky Brown has a much darker base and darker pink tone to it. The color shift is a bit close though, the tone of orange is similar. Formula wise both are 3 coaters but apply easily. I think that Pinky Brown might be a bit closer to that Claire's polish that came out a while back (the name is totally escaping me right now) but I can't find my bottle :(

Models Own Beetlejuice Collection Swatches!

Good morning! Hope everyone had a good weekend, I did! I went to see a band called Tonight Alive on Saturday. Then on Sunday I went a little nuts at Sephora, it was fun but my bank account isn't too thrilled! Today I have maybe the most exciting collection to come out this year, the Beetlejuice Collection from Models Own! At least it is the most exciting one for me, Beetlejuice is one of my all time favorite movies and to make this even better the collection is filled with duochromes and multichromes! I actually just re-watched Beetlejuice on Saturday when I got home from the concert...if for some weird reason you have never seen it you really should go get it and watch it!

Click the read more button below for a ton of photos of each shade! This post is very picture heavy!

3 Reader Requested Comparisons!

Good morning! Happy Saturday! It's supposed to rain today so I'm planning on heading over to Sephora to take advantage of the VIB sale! Today I have 3 reader requested comparisons to show you guys, 2 from the Muppets collection and one of the Zoya Gems & Jewels Collection. I completely lag on putting these up, I wish I had more time for comparisons!

First up is Zoya Noel vs. Orly Sweet Peacock. Unfortunately no dupes here, but if you like one you will probably like the other. Sweet Peacock is much brighter and more vibrant and Noel is more of an icy almost dusty blue. Formula wise both are good, I used 2 coats of each.

OPI Gettin' Miss Piggy With It vs. China Glaze Love Marilyn! Alright, now I know you all thought these were very close dupes but they actually aren't as close as I thought they would be. I'll let the pictures do the talking here. I much prefer the China Glaze, it covers much better and I like the mix of glitter better. Last night I saw another possible dupe of Love Marilyn, from a new Sally Hansen Collection called Gem Crush. I didn't buy it because it looked so close but it's a good alternative if you can't find these. I used 3 coats of each polish for the photo below.

OPI Rainbow Connection vs Nicole by OPI Rainbow In The S-Kylie. dupes, we all already knew that right? If I had to pick one of these I'd go with the OPI because I like the brush better, other than that they are pretty much the same. I used 1 coat of each over white for the photo below.

All of these polishes are available now. I hear the China Glaze Eye Candy Collection is out now at Sally Beauty Supply if you have been looking for them. The Nicole by OPI Kardashian Collection is available now at Walmart. Zoya Gems & Jewels is available now on Zoya.com and OPI Muppets and the Orly Birds of a Feather collection should be out now at Ulta!

*Zoya, OPI and Nicole by OPI polishes were provided to me for review, all others were purchased by me with my own money.*

Happy Friday!! Who else loves today's date? 11/11/11, I can't wait until it's 11:11 on 11/11/11 haha! Today I have the Merry & Bright Collection from Finger Paints to show you guys! I love holiday collections, I think holiday and fall are my favorite nail polish "seasons" it seems like all the really great stuff comes out then. The Merry & Bright Collection brings us 3 gorgeous shimmer and 3 glitters! Click the read more button below for pictures and reviews of each shade!

Cult Nails Unicorn Puke

Good morning guys! You won't believe what I did last night, I stood in line for almost 2 hours for a grilled cheese sandwich. Nope, I'm not kidding! If you are from around here (LA/OC) you have heard of the Grilled Cheese Truck most likely. I have been waiting for them to come to Orange County for ages (they are Los Angeles based and an OC stop is rare). I got a Gruyere grilled cheese with bacon...amazing! I also got a S'Mores melt which is marshmallow creme, nutella and crushed graham crackers on brioche. I have no words to describe how delicious that was. As crazy as it was to stand in line that long it was actually kind of fun, we got to know everyone around us. It was like tailgating except we weren't waiting for a sports event or concert...we were waiting for yummy food haha! The people in front of us had their cute little dachshund with them, so we talked about wiener dogs the whole time...it was a good time!

Anyway, enough babbling about delicious food. Let's talk about amazing nail polish! The other day I posted some awesome layering with Cult Nails Unicorn Puke and today I have it how it was before I added 230 on top. Unicorn Puke is pretty much the most amazing flakie polish I have ever seen in my life. It's like if you took every awesome flakie you could find and frankened them all together in a sheer purple base this would be the result. For the photos below I used 1 coat of Unicorn Puke over a england Elaine. The first photo is in the sun, all the others are in the shade.

If you missed out on Unicorn Puke don't worry, it will be back...just with a different name. It is back in the Cult Nails Super Powers Collection for Winter called Clairvoyant. It's the exact same polish....just a slightly less cool name.

***Sorry for not holding the actual bottle of Unicorn Puke...I love round bottles but my fingers always look all funky when I try to hold them for photos lol!***

Cult Nails polishes are available on their official website, they retail for $10 each.
