Hidden Treasure part deux is a very sheer purple toned pink with a silvery green shimmer. meh. I thought I actually might like it but it falls flat on the nail. I put it over black and hated it so much that I didn't even bother taking pictures of it. I have 1 coat over white for the photos below, you can see the greenish shimmer a tiny bit in the second photo....that's about the only special thing going on here.
It bugs me when companies reuse names, especially when they re-use a name of a HTF and well known polish. Even if the original Hidden Treasure wasn't awesome it's confusing when companies start using the same names over and over...I really don't get why they do that. They couldn't think of another name for this? Anyway, looks like this version of Hidden Treasure might be sticking around for a while, it has a number on the top of the bottle. I don't recall LE polishes in the past having numbers like this one does but I could be wrong about that!

so pretty and delicate, love it
ReplyDeleteI think this would be so pretty if it came out exactly as it looks in the bottle (if it wasn't so sheer). I agree with you; it just gets confusing when they reuse names. Also, the original Hidden Treasure was so special! When I saw your title, I thought "yay, they brought it back," and then "really? They are calling THAT hidden treasure??" Thank you for posting about this!
ReplyDeleteI likeeeeeeee!
ReplyDeleteXoXo
why would they reuse the name??? WHY???? It isn't even like the color is similar...
ReplyDeleteI agree 100% on everything you said, especially the part of re using the names, lack of originality? Gosh! The original HT is super awesome and gorgeous! What I do not like a bit though is that HT changes the base color somewhat. And I have a feeling flakies are gonna be 2012's trend.
ReplyDeleteWow I love this polish!!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!
Noooooooooo! >.< Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy?
ReplyDeleteThis looks pretty!! I totally agree about reusing names. What's the point?
ReplyDeleteI believe this might be Ring My Shell from the collection that Hidden Treasure was originally released with. And they renamed it?
ReplyDelete- Liz
It's like the manufacturing department ordered the right pigment IN THE WRONG SIZE. It looks like the flakies went in a blender and were obliterated ... an abomination!
ReplyDeleteGood thing there are more flakies out there to choose from.
That is so confusing that they did this...wth are they thinking?! It actually looks really nice on your nails though, but it's no contender against the original!
ReplyDeleteI picked this up a month ago, and had the same rant on Polish-aholics Anonymous. Of all names they could have reused?!? They picked HT? Anyways, I have yet to wear it in a full mani, but I thought it looked pretty in the bottle.
ReplyDeleteThat totally stinks. I never had to have Hidden Treasure, but what's more annoying than searching for a product Online and have to wade through two totally different things. Bad move, Sally Hansen!
ReplyDeletei think it would look pretty with the original hidden treasure layered over it!
ReplyDeleteBlech. I don't care for this polish at. all. I very much prefer the ORIGINAL Hidden Treasure. I hate when companies use the same name for two totally different polishes.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Orly Au Champagne. Too bad they had to re-use the same name. ):
ReplyDeleteLooks pretty over white :)
ReplyDeletePretty, but not nearly as pretty as the original. :(
ReplyDeleteI actually don't hate this polish, but the name just kills me. Why would they do that to us?
ReplyDeleteI don't know what the other Hidden Treasure looked like but I really don't care for this. BUT, I pretty much hate white polishes... and decor... and clothing... so... that might just be me.
ReplyDeleteBut I totally agree that reusing names is so lame. And confusing!
It looks like it might look better over black or a darker colour maybe? Either way... blargh. Bring back the REAL Hidden Treasure:P
ReplyDeleteI tried it over black and hated it. It looked frosty and was very streaky.
ReplyDeleteHuh, it bugs me too when they use the same name as a relatively recent polish. There are lots of names that can be made up. I'm surprised this is so sheer. I saw an interview with some fashion nail expert (I remember her face but not her name) and she said sheer polishes look like the 90s and a current polish looks opaque-opaque-opaque. Oh and she said neutral colors make one's hands look older (I'm getting rid of beige polishes now).
ReplyDeleteThe first one was better. BOOO Sally Hansen!!
ReplyDeleteI don't have the original Hidden Treasure, but this is really lame! Renaming new polishes with old names is just lazy, and confusing for those polish fanatics who are trying to find HTF polishes.
ReplyDeleteThe color it self is okay, but using the same name (and even worse Hidden Treasure!) for a new polish sucks balls. Catrice will be having new polishes and I am scared they'll create second versions of polishes again, hate when they do that. Just rename the damn thing!
ReplyDeleteLooks very pretty! ♥
ReplyDeleteThis one doesn't come close to the real Hidden Treasure, so I hope this isn't some updated version because it's not that special looking. I find recycling the name from a really popular and HTF color and putting it on a different one lame and kind of a let down. I'm sure they're quite aware how much people want Hidden Treasure back, so of all the names they could have reused, why choose that one?
ReplyDeleteI bet more people will buy this one just because of the name! It's pretty, but not even comparable to the original Hidden Treasure.
ReplyDeleteYea, that annoys me too when companies reuse names... >.>
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a joke even after looking at Scrangie's post about it. Now I'm forever sad. Why, Sally Hansen? Why?
ReplyDeletePerhaps we should boycott the new HT? It would send a message! I don't see much that's special about the new color, especially given that the original was one of the first truly accessible flakie polishes. *irritated*
ReplyDeleteJen, the company told me after reading my post about it that they really liked the name Hidden Treasure so they wanted to use it on an "even more beautiful color". Bunk. No way is that color better or prettier than the original Hidden Treasure.
ReplyDeleteI saw this at Walgreens! I thought it looked a little funny... I had to google what the real HT looks like because I was so skeptical. It's a good thing I didn't waste my money on it!
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely a Treasure that should stay Hidden.
ReplyDeleteWay to appeal to your fans, Sally Hansen. And way to give eBay scammers yet another way of scamming people out of their money. Awesome!
I was just thinking...am I only the one reminded of Orly Rock Candy?
ReplyDeleteyour pictures make me want this and i did not want it AT ALL before!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like one of the ones from the Spring 2010 CSM collex called Ring My Shell. Almost exactly. I want the lighter 2 purples in this collection!
ReplyDeleteThat really sucks.. I got excited for a minute when I started reading this post.. for a second I thought it had been re-released. They should just re-release the original one for crying out loud - they would make a killing!
ReplyDeleteI tried it over black and hated it. It looked frosty and was very streaky.
ReplyDeleteI was so excited when I walked into the SH section of my local store and saw "Hidden Treasure". I thought 'OHMIGOSH! DID I REALLY GET THIS LUCKY?!?' hoping someone had put it out by accident after finding it in the back or something equally ridiculous. I thought it was supposed to be flakies, but it still looked pretty so I nabbed it anyway.
ReplyDeleteTalk about disappointing! Opal-y sparkly is nice, but no 'treasure' to me.
Thankfully I found your post about it. All cleared up :)
