TGIF!! I am so ready for this weekend, did this week seem incredibly long to anyone else? Today I have another polish from Butter London's Spring/Summer offering for this year. I was very on the fence about this one, I saw a few swatches of it and was not in love. I have to say though, pictures do no justice to how beautiful this polish is, it's one you need to see in person before making a judgement on it!
Knackered is a purple/green duochrome mixed with holo glitter. Sounds like all the things I love most so I was surprised when I didn't like it in pictures. Good news, like I said above...it's much better in real life. I tried it on it's own and it was okay, a bit on the sheer side. After 3 coats I decided to take it off and put it to the side to layer over something else. Not only does this look better layered but over a nice dark shade it makes the duochrome come out a lot more. The holo glitter (which is camera shy is) SO gorgeous out in the sunlight, I love that I could see the purple flash of the base color coming out too. I'm surprised how much I ended up liking this polish! I hope that if you guys don't love it in my photos you get an opportunity to see it in person to see how great it really is! For the photos below I used 2 coats of Knackered over A England St. George!

ReplyDeleteI'm still not sold on it for myself, BUT these are definitely the best swatches of Knackered that I've seen so far. ^_^
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!
ReplyDeleteIs this similar to WnW grey's anatomy with CG fairy dust on top?
ReplyDeleteLove it! It's a wonderful colour!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of OPI Not Like the Movies, but still love this one!
ReplyDeletestop being such an enabler! :( hahaha jk. i wasn't positive id be getting knackered after some of the swatches ive seen, but yours have definitely convinced me.
ReplyDeleteI saw
ReplyDeleteThat is a very dramatic colour shift from sun to shade. It is very pretty though!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if I'm really sold on this one as it reminds me of OPI Not Like the Movies, but it's gorgeous none the less!
ReplyDeleteThat's the one I want most from Butter London.
ReplyDeleteNice! XoXo
ReplyDeleteBeen lurking here for a couple of weeks...love your blog! I just started painting my nails again, haven't done it regularly for probably about 20 years (I'm 38) and your swatches have been so helpful!
ReplyDeleteI actually bought this entire Butter London collection and I have to say Knackered is pretty mind-blowing to me (polish has come a long way!). Had some fun with my boyfriend's daughter layering it over Slapper and she loved it, granted she's 9 so everything looks awesome to her :)
Anyway thanks for the rad (I still love that word) swatches!

Loving duchrome shades atm. So this one I must have!! Thanks for sharing the pics!! Now to get my hands on this beauty..
ReplyDeleteI walked by the Butter London display in Ulta the other day, and Knackered caught my eye. I hadn't seen any reviews on it so I hemmed and hawed for about 10 minutes probably deciding if I wanted to spend the $14 on it.
ReplyDeleteI decided to get it, and I am SO in love. Pictures DO NOT do Knackered any justice. I put it over CG Smoke & Ashes. (the first time around, at least!)
what color base coat did u use??? I just bought this color today and realized it really sheer
ReplyDeleteI mentioned in the post what I layered it over :)
ReplyDeleteOhh sorry I meant what was the nail polish called that you put as the base?
