Luxe and Lush is a flakie that flashes a bunch of colors including green, orange, gold, blue and pink depending on the shade you layer it over. This feels a bit different than the flakies we've been seeing lately, like the flakies are thicker and more glitter like. With most flakies after you layer them over your base polish the surface is still smooth but with Luxe and Lush it's got texture to it like you would have with glitter. I like that it seems more glitter like but it still flashes the way flakies do...best of both worlds! Formula wise, it's a little thick but since I'd never wear this on it's own it doesn't matter to me! The flakies do lay flat on the nail...in some of the photos it looks like they don't...but I promise, they do!
I have 1 coat of Luxe and Lush over each base polish below...all photos are in the shade! I'll have full normal swatches of all the base polishes up in the next couple of weeks!
Over A England Bridal Veil
Over Sinful Colors Cinderella which was layered over Illamasqua Nudge

This reminds me of CC Covered In Diamonds. Loving it over green!
ReplyDeleteOver Sinful Colors Cinderella which was layered over Illamasqua Nudge and
ReplyDeleteOver A England Ascalon I like best! :)
Luxe and Lush over China Glaze Riveting is like the description of Katniss nails in the opening ceremony of the games loving it , Can't wait to get my hands on this one :) Some great combo's thanks for showing
ReplyDeleteGreat swatches, I'm excited for this one. And OMG I had the SAME reaction!! She was CRAZY!! I don't know how anyone could drink nail polish...omg ew...and when she used the nail polish remover to take the polish off her teeth? I swear I almost puked...elgh. >.<
ReplyDeleteI neeeed this! :D I especially like how it looks over paler colours.
ReplyDeleteseriously? a women who drinks nail polish?!? crazy s****
ReplyDeleteLuxe ans lush looks great though...
My feelings for this polish are mixed: sometimes I think that it's gorgeous, sometimes it seems a bit gross. I'm not sure about the purchase...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful combinations! I think my favourite is over Ascalon though. It really looks like fire and ash.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely cannot wait to get this collection. It's one of my most anticipated for the year so far.
Ooooh I love it over Riveting!
ReplyDeleteSally's is selling them for 4.99....but Transdesign will sell them for 2.99 when they come out on the 28th...what to do?!?
ReplyDeleteI love it over Riveting and Bridal Veil :) I saw the documentary about that lady that drinks polish, they showed it over here too! OMG...I kept thinking the same thing, how can she drink the pretty ones! I guess we are all addicted to polish but her in a different way!
ReplyDeleteI ordered the ones I want last week from Sally's online, and they are being processed and shipped right now! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for these swatches, now I know I DO need it, wasn't quite sure before LOL
ReplyDeleteOhhh!! I love it over Cinderella!! I can't wait for this Collection to come out!!
ReplyDeleteThis is the one polish from the Capitol Colors line that I'm simply dying to have!
ReplyDeleteLuxe & Lush over Riveting is so beautiful! That is the most "girl on fire" combo I've seen!
ReplyDeleteThis polish looks amazing! I can't wait to try it out. I didn't remember even seeing a flaky in the Hunger Games collection press release so I'm way excited about this! And about the lady drinking nail polish - ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Wouldn't that kill you or something?? I love nail polish, but that is just crazy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info about pre-ordering from Sally's. My local store already thinks I'm psycho for stalking previous nail polishes for the past couple of months.
ReplyDeletethis is the one i am most excited about from hunger games too. and even moreso after this post! when is it available?
ReplyDeleteI put that info at the bottom of the post :)
ReplyDeleteI think this it´s very unique, I never see flakies that look like glitter as this, very pretty indeed. Even look like gold pieces with some bases as with the green one ... Love it over orange, baby blue and grey, over black it´s too shocking for me, too much contrast. It´s crazy as it´s look very smooth on the nail like in the 3rd photo but quite wrinkled in the first!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Please could you make a comparison with Color Club "Covered in Diamonds"?
ReplyDeleteIt looks so different on all the colors!
ReplyDeleteI don't own that polish, sorry!
ReplyDeleteGoing to go find that episode now!!
ReplyDeleteLove the polish-- can't wait for these to come out.
ReplyDeleteMissed the tv program... but OMG-- wouldn't that be harmful to her health? What did they tell her about that??
Only us polish addicts would be sad at her drinking the pretty ones...lol.
I've been waiting to see this one swatched! Love that you put it over a few colors. I thought it was going to be a regular flakie, but it looks a little chunkier than most. Very cool!
ReplyDeletewow it totally looks different on a different color!! love!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for reminding me to go preorder these from Sally's! I had my list already made up and now they will just arrive on my doorstep! So excited!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that it doesn't disappear over the very light colors!
ReplyDeleteGah! So pretty! Am loving the glass shards look :)
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I love it over Riviting:-)
ReplyDeleteI really like that over Sinful Colors Cinderella!
ReplyDeleteThis color is on my wishlist and I'm just waiting to find it in a store. This is brilliant and I can't wait to have it on my nails! I love hos this looks so 3-D, but like you said it lays flat...so cool! I love it over the CG Riveting. Awesome swatch! I still don't get how you keep your nails so long, the same length all the time. I'm constatnly trying new treatments and cremes to help with strength, yellowing, cuticles, breakage, and such! Anyways, Love your blog!!!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine drinking nail polish, isn't it very, very toxic? I cannot even stand smelling it!
ReplyDeleteLuxe and lush is my favorite from the collection. Thanks for the swatches!
I don't think I like how "chunky" it looks, personally. I do like that it looks so different over each color though. I'm not sure if I'll end up buying it or not.
ReplyDeleteOh it's so pretty!I can't wait to pick this one up! Do you think it is similar to the essie shine of the times?
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting these swatches of Luxe and Lush.....Very pretty!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's similar in the colors that it flashes but the actual flakie part is much different. The China Glaze one is more like shards of glitter. It's hard to describe!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like shred glitter to me more than flakie which is made of mylar.
ReplyDeleteWould you say it's an updated version of CC Covered in Diamonds? That one had these big, floppy pieces of mylar flake in a clear base that were really difficult to lay down smoothly. I love how this flakie is a total chameleon! Makes me want it more! Thanks for the swatches!
ReplyDeleteFrom the photos I've seen of Covered in Diamonds it looks like it, but since I don't own that Color Club polish I can't be 100% sure!

ReplyDeleteOohhhh! Thanks beachgal! I'm sure many others have mentioned this difference at various times in the past, but being new to nail polish/polish blogs, etc. I seriously couldn't figure out what the difference was! I knew flakies had a definite different look than most glitters in pics, but... some glitters seemed to "look" "flaky", etc.
ReplyDeleteThe flakies made of mylar comment is just what I needed to make the distinction. Thanks! =)
I seems to look the best over the Cinderella and Riveting
ReplyDeleteI love Luxe and Lush over Cinderella! So pretty I have to try that asap!
ReplyDeleteI really want to love it but the only combo I like here is with Cinderella.
ReplyDeleteI love how the color of the flakies change depending on what you put it under.
ReplyDeleteGlad I could help Nina...and yes, once I did get this in my hand - it is a Mylar shred but they used a heavier grade Mylar than I wish they had. I like the really super light (like fake snow) Mylar so it does not leave any crunchy feeling on the top of the nail. This one still has a bumpy finish after using a clear topper.

ReplyDeleteI love your swatches of Luxe & Lush! Going to slap mine on in a bit... :)
ReplyDeleteAnd after you mentioned that My Strange Addiction show, I got curious and looked it up on YT.... Soooooo gross!!! I had to turn it off after 3 minutes, because I was going to throw up. That is just nasty and unhealty and weird! :)
I ordered the ones I want last week from Sally's online, and they are being processed and shipped right now! :)
ReplyDeleteGot two on clearance yesterday! Awesome!
