Hi guys! Today I have an amazing holo to show you! You may have heard of the brand Layla before, I've reviewed a few of their magnetic polishes here. They are a company out of Italy that makes seriously amazing polish. They recently released their Hologram Effect polishes which is 8 of the most crazy linear holographic polishes I have ever seen. You all know I'm a holo fangirl, I have more than anyone could ever need. Even with all that rainbow goodness in my life my eyes almost popped out of my head when I walked outside and saw this polish in all it's glory.
Mermaid Spell is a beautiful light blue linear holo. Like I mentioned above this is by far the most crazy light blue holo I have in my collection. Think Hits Poseidon...but times 1000%! Now with these it's a bit different than some of the other very holo polishes I have, like Nfu Oh and Jessica, which advise you to use an Aqua Base Coat. Layla has a separate file you can buy to buff your nails with and then they say not to use a base coat. Usually I am not a fan of going without a base coat because holos tend to show every single imperfection on your nail but after I used the buffer the result was great, and the polish was easy to apply. Formula wise Mermaid Spell was on the thin side, but it was easy to apply. I did wait a couple minutes in between coats to make sure there was no dragging or balding. I didn't have any issues! I used 2 coats for the photos below, I did not use a top coat. the directions said to but I was scared about it dulling the effect.
All photos below were taken in direct sunlight, this polish is even more holo in real life if you can believe it!
Layla's Hologram Effect polishes are available now, when I looked yesterday you could buy 3 of the shades already on AveYou.com (you best bet I bought the 3 they had lol), the others should be in stock there sometime in early March. Each polish retails for $15.50. You can also purchase the buffing file separately, it is $5.50 on AveYou. These polishes will also be available at Ulta, I haven't seen them there yet but hopefully they will be soon! As far as I know they will also be $15.50 at Ulta! If you don't live in the US you can buy these direct from Layla here, their website is in Italian, I'm not sure how much the price works out to through them.

ReplyDeleteYes, the holos of Layla are really amazing! I just bought a bunch lately. They are so seriously 'holo'!!
ReplyDeleteWOW! I love this. Where can you buy these?
ReplyDeleteOmg! Love love love. Looks like they have 8 colors. Unfortunaltely they aren't for national release yet :-(

ReplyDeleteIt seems intriguing!
ReplyDeleteI must be honest, I tried some Layla classic polishes but they didn't turn out to be that good I expected. So, since I'm deeply in love with HITS no Olimpo series but there seems to be no way I can get them here in Italy, do you think these Layla Holo could be worthy substitutes? I can't think of anything better than Speciallità holos...... :D
Thanks in advance..
WOW! A little pricey, but awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteOMG, this is amazing! It reminds me of that foil wrapping paper you can get at Christmastime that's super expensive. LOVE it. Need it. Hurry up and stock these Ulta so I don't have to pay shipping!
ReplyDeletehow long does it last on the nail for?
ReplyDeleteCrazilngy Amazingly holo!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI can't speak about the wear on this polish, I haven't worn this as a full manicure yet. Sorry!
ReplyDeleteIf you spend $50 on AveYou shipping is only $1! I got all 3 they had in stock along with 2 small OPI Avojuice's and it was only $41 after I used the code ALLCHIC :)
ReplyDeleteBased on this polish and the pictures I've seen of the others these holos are better than the Hits ones :)
ReplyDeleteThat information is at the bottom of the post.
ReplyDeletecrikey this is incredible!
ReplyDeleteOh dear gawd..... whyyyy??? So pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat is stunning! I'm so tempted but I have silk wraps and I think I need a base coat.
ReplyDeleteI'm really tempted to order one of these...but do you really think you need to get their buffer?
ReplyDeleteYou could use an Aqua base coat, Nfu Oh makes one! If you don't have that or you don't want to buy it I would try using Seche Vite as a base....I've heard it works pretty well!
ReplyDeleteWait, you mean this pretty holo polish WILL be available in the states? I can't believe it..
ReplyDeleteNope, you could use an Aqua Base Coat if you have one. I've also hear that some people use Seche Vite as a base coat and it works just as well!
ReplyDeleteWOWWWWWW. Such eye candy :D
ReplyDeleteI really hope they start selling these in stores in Canada.. Thanks for the link though!
Awesome! Thanks for the advice =)
ReplyDeleteI don't live in the USA and the shop takes International Shipping Cost € 30,00 and 11,90 € for one polish. That would be 31,61 Dollar for one bottle ;(
ReplyDeleteholy wow!!!!!!!!! this is magic in a bottle! i love it !! thanks for sharing! as always you have costed me money ! lol
ReplyDeleteOh finally I can get my hands on some holos!
ReplyDeleteWOWZA! I will have to take a trip to Ulta. That is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI need to try a holo!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow!!!!!!!! I don't know if I can resist NOT buying this!!
ReplyDelete:( I'm sorry! I would try emailing Layla Cosmetics to ask if they have a distributor where you live!
ReplyDeleteWOW that is a beautiful polish! I love it!
ReplyDeleteHoly crap that holo! Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHoly Shiz!! I'd like to hear if adding a top coat did dull the holo and how long this lasted without chipping. My nails are like teflon (nothing sticks!!) so I NEVER go without base coat, that aspect makes me a bit nervous!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot! I'll have a look then, I'll let you know!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't the base file weaken the nail if you use it often?
ReplyDeleteReally pretty!
ReplyDelete*dies* That is way too beautiful... darn you, no-buy!
ReplyDeleteIf you buff your nails often it does...you can always use an Aqua base coat with these if you don't want to buff your nails, the result would be the same!
ReplyDeleteOh, that is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I want it!
ReplyDeleteDaaaang! I need that!!
ReplyDeletethis is amazzing! im absolutely want one!
ReplyDeleteI will be getting my order today from Ave You! I can't wait!!!
ReplyDeleteI will be getting my order today from Ave You! I can't wait!!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing? I have Ocean Rush and Flash Black so far but I'm wanting 3 more :)
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOOOOSHHH :D
ReplyDeleteare these limited edition?! T.T
I purchased the Retro Pink. After painting my nails with 2 coats, I used a top coat only on one nail to see what difference it would make. And it does dull and interfere with the Halo, it takes away the depth of the halo. I would not use a top coat anymore, and I will have to see how well the polish wears with out it.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous polish...But I tried it and I had terrible streaking!!! I don't know what I did wrong? I waited a few minutes between coats? :O(
ReplyDeleteDid you use an Aqua Base? It might help, make sure you base coat is also 100% dry. Sometimes holos like this are just a pain to apply, the Nfu Oh's are like that. I usually try to do a thick coat and apply it with a very light touch
ReplyDeleteI ordered Ultra Violet and don't have aqua base, I think I will be ordering it though, because I will be ordering three more colors of these before they are gone. Thanks for the honest review and incredible blinding pics!!
ReplyDeletethis looks like a dupe for barry m holographic
ReplyDeleteI sandwiched it. 2 coats of Jade Groove, 1 coat Out the Door, 1 coat Jade Groove. It seems to wear pretty well that way.
