Agro is a dark shimmery green. I love me some green polish, I don't really love this though :/ I feel bad because I feel like I should like this but it was very flat looking in person, I wish the shimmer was more....shimmery, ya know? This is one of those rare occasions where I think the polish translates better in pictures than it looks in real life. Formula wise...awful. No way to sugar coat that, it was a thick goopy hard to apply mess. Hopefully thinner will fix it if I ever decide to wear this again. I've heard some people say their bottle wasn't a mess like mine so I'm guessing my bottle came from a crappy batch, if you pick this up hopefully your's came from a good batch of polish.

Fast Track is a light beige with golden flecks of glitter. I love this one so hard, unfortunately I don't think it loves my skintone...however I'll still wear it. I really love this glitter in this, it kind of reminds me of the flakies in Essie's As Gold As It Gets if they were crushed. I saw this polish layered over a couple darker colors on Make Up Alley and it looked amazing, if you have this and want to mix it up that would be a great way to wear it! The formula was nice, a little sheer on the first coat but it was surprisingly opaque on the 2nd coat!

For the photo below I believe Luxe and Lush is over A England Bridal Veil but I'm not 100% sure about that
Riveting is a bright orange with a golden glitter running throughout. This is stunning, if you like orange polish you'll love this one! It does feel like something I already own, I thought of a few Zoya polishes I have when I saw it. I haven't had a chance to look at it side by side with any of them though. The formula was great on this polish, almost opaque in 1 coat! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Overall this collection gets a big giant "meh" from me, I was expecting so much better. I really love Electrify, Fast Track, Luxe and Lush and Riveting...the rest I could live without.
The Hunger Games Collection from China Glaze is available now! I've seen it out at Sally Beauty Supply, you can also buy it on various etailers like Transdesign, Head2ToeBeauty and Victorias Nail Supply...the list can go on and on!
*Riveting and Luxe and Lush were sent by China Glaze for review, all other polishes were purchased by me with my own money*

Lovely swatches! I haven't read the books but based on all the hype I was also expecting a lot more from CG. Still, there are some great shades here. Fast Track and Riveting are so pretty- I love the shimmer in them!
ReplyDeleteWoooow thanks for the super nice swatches. Fast Track looks sooo nice! And the red-orange one! :D
ReplyDeleteI also was very excited but hmm :/ I ended up buying just two colors: Smoke and Ashes and Riveting. Maybe Ill get Agro but dont know... well its good to safe money but I was disappointed with the colors. *sigh
ReplyDeleteI wish the original Hunger Games colours had been made, the more vibrant ones...remember those? I would have bought them all
ReplyDeleteI want smoke and ashes, fast track, luxe and lush and stone cold. I was really excited too, but finally, shades like foie grass or agro disappointed me :(
ReplyDeleteAnyway, thanks for your swatches and review!
Electrify over Smoke and Ashes is GORGEOUS. Love that!
ReplyDeleteI wish I loved these polishes more than I do. I adore the Hunger Games, but none of the polishes in this collection really are big stand outs to me. I do like Fast Track, but I feel like it's been seen before, although I still may pick it up!
ReplyDeleteThey all look amazing in your pictures! I really want the black one and the glitter one ♥
ReplyDeleteI think Im gonna buy it ad see for myself if I love it as much as in your pictures =)
I really love the black one and the glitter one. And they all look amazing in your picture!
ReplyDeleteI think Im gonna buy some of them online (cuz I cant find it here in France) and see for myself if I love them as much as I lov ethem when I see the color in your pictures =)
Thanks for the review! I was going to pick up Agro, but I'm going to skip it. It wasn't that exciting anyway! I agree with you about most of this collection though, not groundbreaking.
ReplyDeleteThey are all pretty, but Electrify and fast Track are my favourites :)
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think a like b/c I posted about this collection today too. Weeee! OMG, Riveting is just...ugh. I so love that polish. And I'm with you on most of the collection being "meh". L&L and Riveting made it better and without those the collection would have been a dud.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! xoXo
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to see that I'm one of the few who really loved the whole collection. They're the first colors that lean more neutral that I've liked, I usually go more for the bright colors....Either way, glad you found some that you like!
ReplyDeleteI was amazed when I walked into Sally Beauty yesterday and they had at least 10 of each color in this collection...then I was less amazed when I got a good look at the collection. Sitting all together they are one big pile of ick to my eye... I do like Riveting and Electrify and Fast Track really caught my eye, but I don't really WEAR nude shades, even if they do have interesting shimmer...so I passed on the whole thing. Sad, I really WANTED to like them.
ReplyDeleteIf you wear Agro again, put Luxe and Lush over it. The flakies really compliment it.
ReplyDeleteI ended up getting this entire collection but I do agree that I was expecting a bit more from this release. They could have done more *colors* since each one was supposed to be a representative of each district. I think that would have been a better way to go about with the colors from this collection. But I haven't actually tried them but only really these and one or two of the others really stood out to me.
ReplyDeleteI'm sad to hear about your Agro polish. I was very happy with mine. The formula was dreamy...1 streak free coat! Luxe & Lush looks perfect over Agro also, I suggest you try it!
ReplyDeleteLove riveting! It is similar to Orly's Emberstone?!
ReplyDeleteI love how you applied Electrify over dark base! It looks so much better this way, than on its own)
ReplyDeleteI'm not a Hunger Games fan (read it but didn't like it). I think if I was a fan I'd be even more disappointed in this collection! I only bought Electrify and Fast Track; both are gorgeous. I like the color of Agro but it looks like it would be brushstroke-y, which I don't like. Smoke and Ashes looks similar to a color I have from Sinful Colors (can't remember the name ATM), so I passed it up. I agree with everyone else who said this collection is "meh".
ReplyDeleteSmoke and Ashes is so gorgeous! I love it!
ReplyDeletei kind of feel the same way. the polishes weren't as amazing to me in person as i was hoping. however, i still bought them all.i am hoping that some of them translate better on the nail then the bottle pic. i think the ones you picked look great though. i can't wait for the movie!
ReplyDeletei have Riveting and stone cold ( its a mate black!) and I passed on the other ones because i just did not like the collection! I love the books and cant wait for the movie so until then.. those are the two colors for me!
ReplyDeleteRiveting is much more orange
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way as you did about this collection. I know not to get excited with the graphic color dots/descriptions released before the bottles are in retail. Seems to be a lot of hype over Smoke & Ashes and I with with you - don't need it - have a lot of other dark ones that I cannot see the inner goods of. Thought Argo would be hot - NOT. Riveting is blown me away however..and nope, there is not a Zoya that is close to this same inner fire in this one...I am thinking you might have thought of Zoya's Kimmy from summer Sunshine 2011 - that one has more of a gold foil and is more red/orange than is Riveting. However, Riveting does have red to the orange, at least enough for my liking it more than if it were just orange.
ReplyDeleteI could not get behind Electrify yet - it looked too much like Christmas to me for right now. Plus I am having a boycott against heavy glitters right now. I have so many that I don't wear as it is...I don't want to need more!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you! I wanted so much to love this collection. I ended up getting 8 of them but only REALLY like a few of them. But being a nail polish hoarder myself, I'll probably get the rest to complete the collection :/ I have to say that I did not like Riveting when I first saw it. But after seeing your pics I just have to have it!
ReplyDeleteThis collection was kind of a "meh' for me as well. I'm a huge Hunger Games fan and I thought they would do something absolutely AMAZING since the book is amazing and there is so much to take inspiration from... I was especially let down by the polish "from" District 12... There was so much more unique and gorgeous things they could do...
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm one of the few that loves most of this collection. My favorites are Riveting and Harvest Moon. Soooooo pretty. Anyways you have great swatches! They look beautiful on you.
ReplyDeleteYah, I loved stone cold and riveting was way better in person than any previous swatch pix I'd seen. Harvest Moon was one that I liked but I was not prepared for how much I wud fall in love with it. I'm still totally meh. about the rest of the collection
ReplyDeleteI wish the names would relate more to the book i.e electrify should be called girl on fire. You're right the collection is meh
ReplyDeleteI love fast track! Now I'm not so sure about Agro, but I also want Harvest Moon.
ReplyDeleteI love all the colours, but a couple of the entire collection remind me
too much of Below Deck and I like some variation in my stash. I don't
like Luxe and Lush though. I love the shape of your nails <3
I've gone for pretty much the same choices - harvest moon instead of agro though.
ReplyDeleteI only own one full collection of polish. I guess there's no point in me buying colours I only know I'll wear once to swatch.
I got the same ones, minus Smoke & Ashes and Luxe & Lush. I've seen swatches of Stone Cold though and I might pick it up since it's a matte polish.. not totally unique but I love how it looks!
ReplyDeletei got dress me up, foei grass, fast track, smoke and ashes, and stone cold, my favorite is by far foei grass, its is soooo beautiful i own alot of brownish polishes but this one i so different, the color is amazin i cant explain it has hints of pink you jusy have to get it, i dont have words to say how gorge it is hahahaa
ReplyDeleteand i might get luxe and lush now that i see your pictures, thanks for posting
I totally agree with you about the collection as a whole. I nearly died of joy when I found out that China Glaze would be doing a Hunger Games collection, but it's kind of a disappointment. And then I wish the names were more...referential to the books, I guess? They're kind of vague.
ReplyDeleteBut I love electrify, and of course your swatches are perfect.
I am so with you on the collection as a whole...I ended up buying 5, and many are the same you reviewed. Ah well...
ReplyDeletei feel like i'm in the minority because i couldn't choose between the polishes and ended up buying them all, haha! my nail polish collection is just in its infancy though, so maybe i like it more because i don't have many polishes that look like it? my collection is especially lacking in neutrals, so this collection seemed like a great way to fill in the gaps in my grays/browns/beiges. i'm sorry that you weren't as fond of it though, and especially that you seemed to get such a bad bottle of agro! when i saw the color the first thing i thought was that i figured you would love it! bummer.
ReplyDeleteThis is when I'm glad that I don't have that many polishes :) I just had to buy all of them! I couldn't stop myself, lol. However before I bought them I think I had many 30 polishes in total so they rounded out my collection quite nicely :) Thank you for posting these swatches!
ReplyDeleteHey there! It's funny cause I picked the same colors as you did and I never had seem them in person! so Im very glad I made the best choice and now I want those polishes more than ever! I am located in Mexico City but the collection has not arrived yet and I really doubt it even arrives someday so Im thinking about buying them in the US. I would appreciate it if you tell me where can I find them, most specificly in Las Vegas (WalMart? Wallgreens?). Best wishes! Candy
ReplyDeleteYou should be able to find the collection at Sally Beauty Supply and Ulta! Hope you can get your hands on them!
ReplyDeleteI bought several of these at Ulta and couldn't wait to try them out. So far I've worn Smoke and Ashes by itself and then Riveting with Luxe and Lush on top. The colors are great. But I've been disappointed with the wear ... Both manicures had chips within 48 hours. Anyone else having a similar experience? Just curious. It won't stop me from wearing them!
ReplyDeleteI live in Chiapas, Mexico I saw the collection at Sally's Beauty Supply
ReplyDeleteI actually love these all so much that I bought the whole collection. The colors are all just so pretty!
