First up is actually the end result! Dollish Polish I'm A Material Girl is a polish I bought a little while back and had been searching for the right base polish to put it over. It's pretty in the bottle but I wasn't happy with it when I tried to wear it on it's own. It's a bit on thick side and I needed 3 coats to get it opaque enough to be happy with it. With that many coats it just didn't look right. Bummer right, but good news, it looks great layered!
I'm A Material Girl is a very sheer light pink base packed with small pink glitter, a couple sizes of black and white hex glitter and large black square glitter. I actually bought this because it reminded me of my Lynnderella Connect the Dots over Essie Tour De Finance mani I posted a little while back. I ended up really liking this combo and will definitely be wearing a version of it again, I need to get a full sized bottle of I'm A Material Girl when it's back. I used 1 coat of I'm A Material Girl over Sephora by OPI It's My Pink for the first 2 photos! Just a warning, this did eat top coat. I used a coat of Gelous followed by a coat of Seche Vite to get it smooth!
It might be a little while before this polish is available again from Dollish Polish, it's sold out for now :( Make sure you check out Dolly's etsy for all the latest news about when she will be open and the availability of certain shades!

It's My Pink is a nice hot pink creme, nothing to write home about but it's pretty. It's also scented with Betsey's Too Too Perfume. I've never smelled her perfume prior to this but after smelling this polish I can guarantee I will not be buying it haha! The scent was a bit overpowering for me, to the point of making me nauseous when my hands would get near my face. The scent was strong enough to withstand the Dollish Polish over it and 2 coats of top coat...it wasn't nearly as strong then but I could still smell it. Formula wise it was nice, I used 2 coats. Unfortunately for me I'll probably never wear this polish again, I'll just be admiring it in it's pretty box on my desk!

For the photo below the brush on the left is an older Sephora by OPI polish ( it's Hell To The No, if you're wondering), the brush on the right is It's My Pink. I really like the change...the new brush isn't super wide but it sure makes applying the polish easier, at least for me!
It's My Pink is available at Sephora and on Sephora.com, it is limited edition so if you want it get it before it's gone. Sephora by OPI polishes retail for $9.50 each.

beautiful!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty combo! It's a shame the Betsey polish is so strong. I know a lot of people were looking forward to it since it's scented. I guess I'll be passing on it if that's the case. Lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks for swatching! :)
beautiful layering combination!
ReplyDeleteI love the combination. It's my Pink is really the perfect shade to go under Material Girl!
ReplyDeleteI have actually purchased a few dollish polishes in the past and I find that the ones in the mini bottles are always a different consistency to the larger bottles, which is a disappointing because they are so sheer and just a flop on the nail =/
ReplyDeleteGreat mani!
ReplyDeleteI am liking Material Girl! Very girly!
ReplyDeleteI've been keeping an eye out for I'm a Material Girl. I can't wait until it's back in stock. I think it's gorgeous! You picked a great base color too! Thanks for the lovely swatches as always.
ReplyDeleteI really like this! Great combo.
ReplyDeleteHa, I almost got that Betsey polish but I was worried about the scent...glad to see a review of it, thanks!
ReplyDeletethis is stunning!
ReplyDeleteI agree -- Betsey Johnson is known for being fun and wild, but her polishes are the opposite. :(
ReplyDeleteGreat combo! Love it!
ReplyDeleteOoh this is a real summer polish! I like :)

ReplyDeleteLooks great. So fun with the chunky pieces :D
ReplyDeleteMust have this! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I'm beyond bummed about the Betsey Johnson polish having that overbearing scent. My sensitive nose will not be able to handle that and I love her and really wanted that polish! I sure do love how your combo looks, though.
ReplyDeleteLove I'm A Material Girl! I need to pick it up during one of Dolly's restocks.
ReplyDeleteAnd wow, I know what you mean about Betsey's boring collection! I'm a HUGE Betsy Johnson fan and I expected bright neons and maybe a cool glitter or shimmer - and we get some ho-hum. dupeable cremes? So, so disappointing.
I'm wearing I'm a Material Girl right now on top of Jordana (go get these, they are $1.99 and amazing!) Pink Lemonade and I must say that mine does not look like this! My batch is wayyy more chunky with lots more bits in it. Pretty though!
ReplyDeleteThis combo is really great!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of pink, but this is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you posted this! I bought this as my first Dollish Pollish a few months back. I love Dolly's franken polishes but was very disappointed in this one. It looks adorable in the bottle, but it takes several coats to get it opaque. And then it just...looks terrible! I tried layering it over white polish, and it still looked awful. I never though to layer it over pink but it looks amazing that way! I know what I'll be doing tomorrow! :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing review and swatches as always :) I featured this post in my top 10 picks from sephora :)
