Hi guys! Today I have Essie's Resort Collection for 2012 to show you guys! I think this collection might be called the Sure Shot Collection since that's what it said on the display but I have no idea if that's right! I saw this in Target a few weeks back and didn't realize they were new colors at first, they didn't catch my eye at all. Then I saw them again at my beauty supply store and snatched up all 4! It's not the most exciting collection ever but there are a couple gems in here!

Pink-A-Boo is a baby pink with blue/purple shimmer. This is pretty much the same as Nicole by OPI's Kim-pletely in Love and Jessica's Rolling Rose. The shimmer is slightly different the way it flashes in the bottle, but on the nail you really can't tell. Formula wise, no bueno. It was more sheer than the other 2 I have like it, in addition to being sheer it was also super streaky and it didn't level very well. I used 4 coats for the photos below.
She's Picture Perfect is a light periwinkle with a purple/pink subtle shimmer. This one is probably the most interesting polish in the collection, the base color is SO pretty and the shimmer in the bottle was gorgeous! On the nail I'm still in love with the base color but a bit disappointed with the shimmer. That pretty simmer is pretty much invisible on the nail, even in direct sun. Luckily you can see it in my photos but in real life...not so much :( Formula wise it was a bit thin and watery, but it did cover better than I expected. I used 2 coats for the photos below.
Sure Shot is a dark fuschia shimmer. This polish intrigues me, I don't know what it is about that makes me love it though. It kind of looks like candy, the ones you get at Christmas time that look like ribbons. The formula was a bit on the thick side but it was easy to apply. I used 2 coats for the photos below.
Essie's Resort Collection is available now, I've only seen it at Target so far but I'm sure it will be in the drugstores and Ulta soon. I've also seen it online at Transdesign, not sure if the other etailers have it yet!

No More Film is a dark blurple creme. I leans a bit more to the purple side in real life, it was no bueno to photograph. It's one that you may need to see in person if swatches don't do anything for you. I'm kind of waffling on the formula here. On 1 hand I really love it because it was a one coater. On the other hand it was one of those polishes that runs all over the places and pools up in your cuticles. Clean up was nightmare-ish with it. If you are careful with this, it's great! I used 1 coat for the photos below...I did use a top coat in these photos. It dries shiny but not as shiny as it looks in my pictures!

Such a pretty collection!
ReplyDeletePink-a-boo is really pretty, but if it takes 4 coats to look like that I don't think I have the patience for it
ReplyDelete:( xx
I love No More Film but for some reason I purchased Sure Shot the other day instead which is very strange for me. I don't ever wear any pinks or anything (besides Essie Fiji), and especially nothing with this type of color. Funny how you said you were drawn to it as well! I haven't tried it yet, but hopefully I'll love it on my nails too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful collection! ♥
ReplyDeletePink-A-Boo and She's Picture Perfect are my favourites. :)
hi Jen, Can you pls do a comparison between She's Picture Perfect and Essence Forget Me Not? Thx
ReplyDeleteI love sure shot, what a great summer color.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I still have that Essence polish, I'll look through my stash this weekend and compare it if I didn't get rid of that one (I've been purging a lot of stuff lately!)
ReplyDeleteWow, She's Picture Perfect is amazing. That's going on my wish list! Thanks for posting :) Also, is Pink-a-Boo a dupe for OPI's Pedal Faster Suzi and/or Princesses Rule?
ReplyDeleteNo More Film looks so pretty, but icky formulas annoy me so much I might skip it. Sure Shot is tempting, too. We'll see if any stores in my area carry any.

ReplyDeleteI don't own Princesses Rule so I'm not sure how it compares to that, it's not a dupe of Pedal Faster Suzi. I mentioned in the post that it's a good dupe of Nicole by OPI Kim-pletely in Love and Jessica Rolling Rose :)
ReplyDeleteI picked up No More Film by mistake this past weekend. It's gorgeous. Can't wait to rock it.
ReplyDeleteHow would you say No More Film Compares to Zoya Pinta? Thanks for the great swatches, I was waiting to see these from you :)
ReplyDeleteShe's Picture Perfect is really pretty but like you, I keep looking at my nails for the effect in the bottle. I think I will have to break out my CND effects and see if I can play up that iridescent pink. I adore fuchsia/magenta as one of my top of all time hues - so that one in this collection was a no brainer for me. Not my fav magenta, but it's nice - again will play with my CND effects on it probably. Until you wrote that the pink one here is like Kim-Plenty In Love, I did not see that (and I have Kim)...thinking that Kim is got a lot more white in it and the shimmer is more hidden in Kim on the nail. I did not pick up the burple - it already lives in a # of versions in my stash.
ReplyDeletePedal Faster has more of a dusty pink to it with it's sparkle being kind of stringy (hard to describe). Princesses Rule has tons more shimmer in it than this Essie. Both are pretty. Princesses Rule is more opaque faster I think and far more a fav shade of mine.
ReplyDeleteThis Resort Collection seems like it came out a lot earlier than it usually does in the year...but then I do recall it was a long time that we saw nothing last year from Essie after the summer Brazilliant collection came out. We don't have the Resort here locally yet. We just 2 weeks ago got the spring collection from Essie. I mailed off when I saw the Resort Collection for this yr was out.
ReplyDeleteThey are very very close, if you have one you don't need the other. I do prefer the formula on Pinta though :)
ReplyDeleteThese are nice colors but nothing I really need.. that soft pink looks like OPI Pedal Faster Suzi! and that lilac should have been showing more shimmer!
ReplyDeleteI bought No More Film a couple of weeks ago and my formula was better than yours. It's been my go to darker color lately. I also have Pink-A-Boo, which I'm really disappointed in. It's far too sheer.
ReplyDeleteThey're all so pretty but I'm really loving She's Picture Perfect.
ReplyDeletelove your swatches, as always, but they're very "seen it all before" aren't they ? or are we just getting more demanding lol xx
ReplyDeleteI think a little of both lol!
ReplyDeleteAh okay. In photos they look pretty close. I usually layer Princesses Rule over a pink sheer to tone down the glitter, so I've forgotten how sparkly it can get!
ReplyDeleteI have both pink a boo and she's picture perfect. Felt essentially the same about the pink vs. Kim-pletely in love but still like it. Application was similar.
ReplyDeleteShe's picture perfect was such a disappointment. I love the colour but my formula was horrid. Took forever to apply and so much clean up. Figuring it was a bad bottle as I haven't heard anything similar, so might try again. With the wedding collection, resort and navigate her, I might not want to buy a replacement purple just yet though.
Lovely swatches as always!
I can't believe No More Film is one coat! I almost bought it the other day but I put it back. I want it!
ReplyDeleteI wonder how Sure Shot compares to that new Chanel polish, Tentation I believe it's called? I saw Pink-A-Boo in store and it looks like a gorgeous pink but I know better than to deal with sheer Essie polishes. I'm still waiting for Essie to perfect their formula - too inconsistent (and often streaky!) for me.
ReplyDeleteHope you didn't get rid of Forget Me Not. It was a limited edition polish and now is very difficult to find. At present here in EU it costs from 7 to 10 Euros ... (for times its price when it first came out)
ReplyDeleteI was just wondeirng how close 'no more film' is to OPI's Roadhouse Blues from their Touring Collection?
ReplyDeleteNo More Film leans more purple than Road House Blues, No More Film was SO hard to capture with my camera but in real life you can see the difference.
ReplyDeleteI HAVE to get my hands on, Sure Shot!!!! I Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteNo More Film looks just like Nina Ultra Pro's Sailor. I just got it on clearance at Sally's. :-)
ReplyDeleteyou're going to love it, it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSure shot looks AMAZING with Shine of the Times over it...I like shine of the times over every polish ever, but this is my favorite one so far
ReplyDeletePink a Boo looks gorgeous and I'm loving Picture Perfect. I almost bought A Crewed Interest today but decided to go with a similar color by L'Oreal instead. Do you have A Crewed Interest?
ReplyDeleteCould you pretty please do a comparison of Road House Blues vs No More Film?
ReplyDeleteOh, how do RHB and NMF compare to Bobbing For Baubles?
ReplyDeleteI used No More Film today. It has been on my nail polish rack for over a month now as I had not been in the mood to wear a dark blue. For me it was a dream to apply. It only took one coat and went on very glossy. I like dark polishes but they have been so hard for me to apply in the past...usually I make a mess. For me No More Film went on well. Looking forward to showing the color to my polish loving friends at work!
