Deborah Lippmann Nails of Steel Magnetic Polish duo swatches!

Morning! Today I finally have swatches of one of the magnetic polish duos from Deborah Lippmann. I picked this up a while back from HSN and kept meaning to wear them but I never got around to it until this past weekend! Deborah put out 2 separate sets recently, each comes with 2 magnetic polishes and a wavy magnet. The sets are called Nails of Steel (the one I am showing you today) and Steal My Kisses. The Steal My Kisses duo didn't interest me so I didn't buy that one but I am loving the Nails of Steel duo!

Big Red Machine is a red magnetic polish! This was the whole reason I wanted the duo, I don't have a red magnetic polish, I think Nabi has a red one out but I can't seem to find those around here so this is my much more expensive alternative haha. The formula was nice on this one, it was thick so I thought it would be a 1 coater but after using the magnet on 1 nail it wasn't looking so hot so I ended up using 2 coats before using the magnet. The magnet in the duo is nice, it's strong and easy to use. I do not have a top coat on in these photos, thought I'd mention it since it's not shiny!

Physical Attraction is a brown magnetic polish. This one is similar to China Glaze You Move Me, it's not an exact dupe but it's close enough that I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't have to! The formula was just okay on this one, it was a lot thinner than Big Red Machine was. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Both Deborah Lippmann magnetic polish duos are available on HSN.com for $29 and also LippmannCollection.com for $36.

  1. The brown one kinda has the look of some of the feather manicures that I've seen, with that wavy pattern.  I've been wanting to try a feather mani, and have gone as far as buying some feathers, but afraid it's more work than I'd like to do - this however would be so much easier!

  6. These are very beautiful.  The red one to be sure!!!
I went and bought The Icing's magnetic polish, but for me, my nails are too long and the magnetic didn't seem very strong.  I wish I could find a magnet that really works :O(

  8. Considering that typically her polishes start at $16 it's actually a nice deal if you buy it from HSN :)

  10. I just got my first magnetic polish tonight... not DL (not available here) but I hope it works!

  11. Hmm. I think there are many more attractive looking magnetic polishes. Maybe DL should just stick to what she does best rather than try to jump on a trend. Lovely photos, though.

  12. in your opinion which brand has the best magnetic design?  i just purchased magnetic polish from color club, but want to be able to have different designs.  suggestions?

  13. I really like the brown one because it's not a color other companies are making in magnetics, but I don't think I'd pay DL prices for a trend other companies have already done much cheaper. Her glitters are amazing and so original, though.

  14. When you do 2 coats do you only use the magnet on the 2nd coat?

  15. Yep, usually the polish is thick enough that it completely covers the first coat so there is no need to do the magnet on the first coat also
