Essie Wedding 2012 Collection Swatches!

Happy Friday! Anyone have fun plans this weekend? I'm planning on soaking up the sun, it's supposed to be like 85 degrees tomorrow! Beach, here I come!

Today I have swatches of the Wedding Collection for 2012 from Essie. Usually I'm kind of meh about this collection from Essie...but this year they are pretty awesome. I don't know if I'm so in love with them because I'm going though a pastel/muted color phase or what. I didn't realize these were out yet but I walked into my local independent beauty supply the other day and the owner grabbed these out of the back for me. You know you have a nail polish problem with the owner of the beauty supply knows you and stashes new collections for you in the back haha!

For swatches & reviews of each shade click the read more button below!

Instant Hot is a muted white with a subtle shimmer. I didn't realize there was shimmer in this until I started putting it on. Its so subtle that it might as well just not be there, I was so blinded by this polish in the sun that I couldn't see it in direct sunlight. I also couldn't see the shimmer indoors or in the shade. Amazing;y if you squint very hard at my photos you can sort of see it haha! The formula was no bueno, it wasn't as streaky as I expected but it was very patchy. I used 3 coats on most of my nails but a couple needed 4 coats to even everything out.  Even though the formula was crappy and the shimmer is invisible I found myself loving this once it was on!

Like To Be Bad is a dusty light pink with pink shimmer. I really like this shade of pink because it had the tendency to lean a little bit peach on me! The shimmer is pretty much invisible in this polish also but not as bad as in Instant Hot...meaning I could actually see it sometimes! The formula was not too great, it was sheer but not overly streaky. I did have a problem with it dragging at the cuticle when I would apply another coat of polish. If you get this make sure you let it dry for a couple minutes between each coat. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Love & Acceptance is a muted greyed out lilac. For some reason this is looking very grey on my screen, not sure if it's just the monitor since I'm not writing this post on the computer I edit my photos on or what. In real life it was more lilac. The formula on this was really nice, color me impressed! I expected it to be streaky and a mess but it was the absolute opposite!  I used 2 coats for the photos below!

Who Is The Boss is a blue grey. This is my absolute favorite of the collection. If you only get 1 from this collection this is my pick. I don't have much to say about it because it's pretty flawless! The formula was fantastic, it practically applied itself. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Overall I LOVE this collection, it's not even that unique so I'm not sure why I'm so OMG over it but it's like exactly what I've been wanting to wear lately. Who Is The Boss is my favorite of the collection, I'm also loving Instant Hot even though the formula sucked.

I haven't seen this collection in any stores other than my local place yet. I'm really not sure of when this will be hitting places like Ulta, my guess is soon but I don't know if it's soon as in April or soon as in May. It is up on several etailers including Transdesign and Head2Toe Beauty if you like to buy polish online and are looking for these!

Edited to Add: It looks like some Ulta's do have this collection already...I guess my local one just lags and hasn't put it out yet!

  1. I love all of these! (Yes, even the pink. lol.) I especially love Love & Acceptance and Who Is The Boss. I'm having a pastel phase too so I'm loving all of these types of collections.

  4. The blue and the grey look lovely. Odd about the formulas on the other two as I've always found Essie pretty good.

  10. I love this collection too! But that's not a sursprise, I always wear soft shades and pastels haha.
I saw this collection at two beauty supplies at NYC, but not in the big drugstore chains.
I don't know if I'm going to pick any, since you say the formula is not so good in the two colors I prefer, and I have so many whites and pinks!!!
I totally understand that you like them lol and they all look great on you! Thanks for the beautiful pictures!

  14. I really like this! I feel like the Essie bridal collections are branching out a little more from just the whites and pinks.  It's nice to see.  On my wedding day I wore China Glaze Ruby Pumps on my hands! Great swatches.

  29. I can't find Who's the Boss anywhere in Chicago--other than the salon I got my nails done at... been going crazy trying to find it! It's now one of my favorite Essie colors.

  31. lol im wearing instant hot right now!! it really did lack in the formula part being it took 3 coats to look nice and iam a bit disappointed the shimmer was so subtle! i love me a white with shimmer kinda color! lol but i really love who is the boss, i definitely have to go pick that up!! :) thanks for your awesome reviews and swatches! i do enjoy this collection!

  32. I love those pastel colors!!! So pretty!

  33. Wait, why is your "Who's The Boss" a blue-grey? I saw other swatches of it and a friend of mine (who owns the colour) told me that it's more a mint with a bit grey. I'm confused. Because the blue-grey looks really pretty while I'm not the biggest fan of the mint version.

  34. I bought this collection at Ulta, but they were in the small bottles, not the regular size. I LOVE Love and Acceptance! It's my favorite of the four.

  35. Just an FYI the 2014, GOT ENGAGED! acts the same as the Like To Be Bad -which doesn't seem like a bridal name at all... It took three coats and pulled at the cuticle. Ugh. The name was so cute & promising.
