Layla Hologram Effect Retro Pink

Good morning! Happy Friday the 13th! Anyone have any fun plans this weekend? I'm not sure what I'm doing yet but I'm just glad it's finally the weekend again! Since the weather is pretty crappy here today I thought I'd post an awesome holographic polish to cheer myself up!

Layla Retro Pink is a light pink with a crazy linear holographic effect. This was SO MUCH BETTER in real life. I own a lot of pink holos but this one kicks all their holo butts, it's by far the most holographic pink in my stash! I like this one because it is so soft looking inside but then you step out in the sun and it punches you in the eyeballs with all it's holo goodness.

For my base coat on this one I used Seche Vite. I keep hearing that Seche Vite is a good alternative to an Aqua Base coat (like Nfu Oh's) for holos like these. While it wasn't as good as an Aqua Base it wasn't too bad. Application was much better than it was when I used CND Toughen Up but I still had some issues with it balding a little bit. I used 3 coats of Retro Pink for the photos below.

All photos below are in direct sunlight!

Layla Hologram Effect polishes are available a whole bunch of places! You can get them online at AveYou.com, HarlowandCo.org and Ulta.com (I'm sure there are others also). They go for around $15-$16 depending on where you buy from.

These are also finally showing up in Ulta stores! I haven't spotted them at my local Ulta yet but I know several people have, as far as I know they are selling for $15.50.

  7. So Pretty!! Do they wear good? Does it really need to be used with the buffer file to work?

  8. Gorgeous! Both the mani itself and your photos. It just dawned on me that this is untried for me and I have no idea why. I think I'll have to wear it tomorrow :).

  12. These are SO gorgeous... it's probably good for my bank account that I didn't see these at ULTA yesterday (though I picked up 2 OPI DS polishes, and those are almost the same price, so I would've rather had these...)  My Ulta was doing some serious polish restocking/organizing when I was there yesterday, so maybe they'll make an appearance soon!

  14. Retro Pink was love at first wear for me. And I guess I was lucky because mine didn't give me problems of application even without an aqua base. I had many more issues with Jade Groove.

  26. I ordered this from Ulta last night because of your beautiful swatches. Your blog has become my favorite nail blog. You have a nice variety & loads of creativity. Did you use the Seche Vite base or top coat as your base? Thanks!

  27. Beautiful swatches, I need to get Ocean Rush and Virtual Violet.  I got Retro Pink 2 weeks ago and will be trying it on tomorrow when I'll have some down time to myself. It works best with the Aqua Base for me.  I tried Mercury Twilight and its so Gorgeous :)

  30. I would really like a hot pink or dark pink holo polish. You said you have a lot of pink holos, could you suggest one/some? That I might actually have a chance of being able to find?? :) Thanks!
