Happy Monday!! Hope you all had a great weekend, mine as usual went way too quickly for my liking haha! Today I have an exciting new OPI collection to show you guys called The Amazing Spiderman Collection! I was very excited about this when I saw the first promo images for it. I've always liked the Spiderman movies so it's fun that OPI is doing something for the new one that comes out in July!
Click the Read More button below for full swatches & reviews of each shade!
Call Me Gwen-Ever is a dusty orange that leans towards coral. I feel like I need to put a disclaimer here because this is more orange in real life, whenever I have an orange polish with red undertones my camera freaks. It does lean very coral, especially indoors but it's more orange than my photos are. Sorry guys, I hate posting photos that are not 100% accurate. This did apply a bit brighter than I thought it would looking at the bottle but it's no where near as bright as the other orange polishes we've seen so far this year. The formula was nice, I used 2 coats for the photos below!

Into The Night is a bright shimmery blue. The shimmer in this is a tiny bit frosty but not in a bad way. I really like this one, it practically glows! It's like a much brighter version of OPI Yoga-ta Get This Blue. The formula was okay, not my favorite. It was sheer but it builds up nicely, I used 3 coats for the photos below. I would recommend wrapping the tips of your nails with this one, you can tell if you don't. For those that have no idea what that means you just run the brush along the tip of your nail!

Just Spotted The Lizard is a gold/green duochrome. I do like this, I love a good duochrome...however this is the 3rd polish I have that is like this. It's a dead on dupe of Chanel Peridot and Jessica Iridescent Eye. Now for me this isn't good news but for everyone else it might be! If you don't want to throw down the cash for the Chanel this should be a good easy to find alternative for a fraction of the price! The formula was very nice, I actually prefer it to the Chanel! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

My Boyfriend Scales Walls is a white creme. I was kind of meh about this in the bottle but you guys...I love it! I feel weird being all woohoo over a white polish but I have been obsessed with white nails lately, I was actually sad to take this off! My Boyfriend Scales Walls isn't straight white, it has the smallest bit of grey in there. You can't tell unless you hold it up to a polish that is a bright white but it makes it much more wearable in my opinion! The formula, for a white, was pretty good. It was streaky on the first coat but I only needed 2 coats for the photos below. For polishes like this I like to do my second coat a bit thick and kind of float it onto the nail with a very light touch.

Number One Nemesis is a murky grey/green shimmer. This polish is insanely beautiful in real life, when I got it in the mail I seriously sat on my bed moving the bottle around staring at it for a good 5 minutes. There are so many different colors of shimmer going on in here. The colors that caught my eye were gold, pink, blue, green and silver. The base color is a very dirty looking dark green. If you don't like this in photos it might be one you need to see in real life, I promise...it's great! The formula was good, I used 3 coats for full opacity. If you don't have a free edge on your nail 2 coats would probably be just fine!

Shatter The Scales/Green Shatter is a dark teal green shimmery crack polish. I'm really not sure what this is called, everything I've seen from OPI says Shatter The Scales but my bottle says Green Shatter! I know people are sick to death of crack polish but I think this might be my favorite that has come out! The shimmer is beautiful, you can see it inside and in the shade! I'm also loving the color of it, it reminds me of Orly Meet Me Under The Mistletoe which is a favorite of mine. I didn't have any issues with this cracking, it does dry matte so I used a top coat for the photos below!

Your Web Or Mine? is a pink frost. The formula was okay, I used 2 coats. I'm not a fan of this and I'm kind of wondering how a pink frosty color made it into a collection with a Spiderman theme. Actually I'm kind of wondering how a pink frost made it into ANY collection.
Overall I like this collection, other than Your Web Or Mine I think that OPI gave us beautiful colors! My only compliant is that I don't really see the Spiderman tie in with most of the colors...it would have been nice if they had given us a red instead of the frosty pink. My favorites are Number One Nemesis, My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Into The Night and Shatter The Scales.
This limited edition promotion will be available beginning May 2012 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $8.50 ($9.95 CAN) suggested retail for each Nail Lacquer.

lol I looooove pink frosts! Can't get enough of those shades ;)
ReplyDeletexoxo Crystaliciousss
wow, i really don't like this collection al all.
ReplyDeleteI love almost all colors, mostly the crakered one, and the white, beut the grenn, the blue, argh, I thnink I must have them all!
ReplyDeleteBest regards from icing France!
I love the blue one!
ReplyDeleteThat pink... I think a lot of grandmas will be very happy! *sarcastic*
ReplyDeletelol I don't like this collection at all. 2 Chanel dupes, one shatter, one frosty pink :-SThe white is the only one that maybe i'm going to buyThanks for the swatches!! It's great to see new polishes i want, but also the ones that I can pass ;-)
How do you think Number One Nemesis compares to something like My Private Jet? I found an old bottle of MPJ that I absolutely love but am having a hard time with the formula (bit thick!).
ReplyDeleteI love Number One Nemesis, Shatter the Scales, and Into the Night. I was more excited about this collection when the promos came out but now I agree that it doesn't really have much of a Spiderman theme color wise. :/

ReplyDeleteI really like Just Spotted the Lizard and Number One Nemisis. I'm really excited for the Spiderman Collection, because I'm a tad Spiderman obsessed, but I agree that it dosen't really tie in with Spiderman...
ReplyDeleteCompared to last year's Pirates of the Carribean collection I think this is poor and uninspired. A pink frost, one more orange, a Chanel dupe... so many colours aren't interesting that it makes the whole collection seem a bit meh! What a pity! I was really excited to see what they would come out with when I heard about the Spiderman theme. Spiderman moves around in the night and in New York of all places. They could have done a lot better.
ReplyDeleteNumber One Nemesis and the green shatter are the only ones I like!
"Actually I'm kind of wondering how a pink frost made it into ANY collection." LOLOL!!! So true! Great pictures, I'm going to get them all except the blue and the pink. Loveeee the green shatter!
ReplyDeleteI do love the lizard one just on the name I know that's bad but I cannot help it and love Number One Nemesi. That being said I wasn't crazy about the Hunger Games collection and didn't pre order, drove myself crazy to get them because everyone was and got them like an idiot. Now they sit in the drawers so I will hunt down these two but probably not the rest. I need to rein in buying polish because everyone else wants it lol. I need to listen to myself scary
ReplyDeleteyea for Just Spotted The Lizard,I've been wanting the channel's one for a looong time but I couldn't make myself so much on a nail polish...nice swatches :)
ReplyDeleteI like how unique these colors are. I like the blue and the Peridot dupe; however, I have Peridot, so I was hoping no one would come out with an exact dupe so I can feel okay with spending $25 on it. Oh well, I like seeing that Chanel bottle in my collection:)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you said how close Spotted the Lizard is to Peridot or I'd have bought it.
ReplyDeleteI don't really like the spiderman collection but i want the white one!!
ReplyDeleteWhat the heck is a pink frost doing in any collection? is right!! Such a strange addition.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to see these swatches! I don't have Chanel or Jessica so I'm looking forward to Just Spotted The Lizard! I still like Shattered polish because I like wearing multiple colors and Shatter is easy art :) so I'm also excited about Shatter the Scales. I agree about the pink, not excited about it. I can't wait to see Number One Nemesis- I wonder how it compares to Lucerne-tainly look Marvelous, sounds like its more green.
ReplyDeleteNice!! Thanks for posting. I LOVE white nails for spring/summer and may have to try this and the grey sparkly one! :)
ReplyDeleteI have been getting pretty excited about this white, too! Weird huh? :)
ReplyDeleteI am laughing so hard at all the blogs I have seen previewing this collection and their reactions to that barfy pink. Love it.

Into The Night by Opi is irresistable, even more
ReplyDeleteJust Spotted The Lizard
That frosty pink is so ugly! I guess nobody is going to like that one. The others though, they look great on you! And that shatter.. lovely!
ReplyDeleteGreat swatches!!!! Your Web or Mine, looks close to A Rose At Dawn which I am wearing now. But a pink polish is a fav of mine, even if it sticks out of this collection like a sore thumb.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely need Just Spotted the Lizard, the others not so much now that I've seen swatches.
ReplyDeleteou, Chanel Peridot and Graphite dupes, just perfect)
ReplyDeleteIt happened again... I wasn't stoked about any of these colors until I saw your swatches, LOL. Now I need
ReplyDeleteInto the Night, My Boyfriend Scales Walls, AND Number One Nemesis.
I want Just Spotted the Lizard! I don't have a polish like that. Also, this: "
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of this and I'm kind of wondering how a pink frosty color made it into a collection with a Spiderman theme. Actually I'm kind of wondering how a pink frost made it into ANY collection." made me laugh out loud. So true.
surprising some people have actually liked that pink. I think I'll probably gift it to my Mom, she still loves frosty polish lol
ReplyDeletelol sorry! I'm glad you like them!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize that Number One Nemesis was a Graphite dupe! I'm surprising OPI duped them twice in one collection!
ReplyDeleteGlad you at least like 1! I think these were a lot more promising in the bottle images, I still like them though!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
ReplyDeleteIt is irresistible, I love Into The Night also!
ReplyDeleteYou make me feel less weird since the white excites you too lol! I haven't had a chance to look at too many other swatches of this collection but I wouldn't be surprised if we all hate that pink, it's just....ugly.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it! I've never really been a white manicure kind of girl until recently, now I'm obsessed with having my nails white!
ReplyDeleteI think it leans a bit more green like you said, I remember Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous being much more of a charcoal grey!
ReplyDeleteright?!? I'm glad everyone else thinks so too lol
ReplyDeleteIt's a great white! Hope you love it as much as I do!
ReplyDeleteGlad to help, it's spot on...I couldn't tell them apart on the nail!
ReplyDeletelol don't you hate when that happens...you buy an expensive polish and then someone else dupes it for like $20 less. It's why I always hesitate with buying Chanel. I wish now that I hadn't bought the Chanel, but oh well...like you said I like seeing the bottle in my collection too!
ReplyDeleteThanks! woohoo for a cheap version of the Chanel!
ReplyDeletelol I love it for the name too, I'm not even going to say how many polishes I've bought just because of an awesome name (it's a lot!). I buy the same way as you, I get everything then regret it when I never wear the polishes I was so crazy about getting
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteI tend to agree, I do like the colors but it doesn't fit with the theme at all. I sometimes wonder if OPI just has them already in a collection and slaps a theme with it even if it doesn't match at all.
ReplyDeleteAwesome picks! I wish that it would have gone with the theme a little more but at least there were some winners!
ReplyDeletelol I think you're right, Grandma's everywhere will love that pink one!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like them so much!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a bummer! Money saved for different polishes though, right!!
ReplyDeleteLMAO, perfect first comment
ReplyDeleteI am so not excited by this collection. I had thought Nemesis and Lizard held out some interest. But in most lighting, they are not new at all - just more of the same. They both look like the bottle holds all the goodies that don't translate to the nail.
ReplyDeleteI agree - the only tie in with that frosted pink I can see are 2 fold: one is it's spring/summer and they wanted to include something to speak to the season (though the gray/white would have done that OK) and second: the frosted pink is paying homage to old days when the actual comic books were read like crazy by kids who spent 5-10 cents per copy and there were few polish shades around but icky frosted pinks, ditto whites and cream reds!
ReplyDeleteLOL! So that is why various companies still are making frosted pinks!!!
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to see Number One Nemesis swatched next to Brand New Skates. BNS is one of my favorite colors and if this is a close dupe, I'm going to stock up!
ReplyDeleteI was hoping that Call Me Gwenever would be more orange than coral.
ReplyDeletebefore i even read your post i already thought to myself that i will not get that frosty pink polish. its so ugly! hahah
ReplyDeleteI like Just Spotted the Lizard and Nemesis...I'm definitely going to go try and get ahold of these for sure! What disappoints me more than the pink though is the shatter...I'm so sick of shatter I can't even tell you. I don't really like it (I had a bottle that I returned before using it) and just don't want to see it anymore!!
ReplyDeleteAs a comic book and nail polish fan, I was excited when this collection was announced. Thank you for this post bc now I know what colors to get, and which ones to skip!
ReplyDeleteI'll probably get Just Spotted the Lizard cause I don't want to pay for the Chanel. But other than that I'm not feeling it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the lack of "Spiderman" theme and the WTH at the pink frost. Also that there should be a red. And Scrangie also said all the same things on her post of this collection. I really like the color of the shatter one, but I'm not a fan of shatters....would love that as a regular polish.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they are dupes but I can definitely put them next to each other for you!
ReplyDeletedepending on the lighting it does, it's more orange than my photos make it out to be (my camera has issues with red/orange).
ReplyDeleteI did not expect to like anything in this collection but I am drooling over Just Spotted the Lizard. I don't own any of the Chanel Peridot dupes so hopefully these won't sell out at the drugstore before I can get my hands on a bottle. Thanks for this post! :)
ReplyDeleteI have to sort through my polishes but that blue looks like a dupe of an OPI I love, the Lizard one is great but a dupe of a Gap polish I just bought at their checkout counter! I have to admit I loved the pink frost, but no red?! What?!
ReplyDeleteim not into this collection i might get the orange but i feel i have something in my collection already
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Thanks for swatching! I like the duochrome!
ReplyDeleteLove this collection! Have been waiting to see swatches of the colors! :] Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI don't know about everyone else, but OPI & Spiderman just don't seem to be a good fit to me at all. Just really weird. Doesn't really make any sense & the colors don't even look like spiderman.. No blue, no red? Strange. Anyways I really like your swatches & may want to try out Number One Nemesis!! Thanks for posting : )

I'm not going to lie, I kinda of like the frosty pink /embarrassed. I probably won't get it though I always hate pinks when I put them on. I love Into the Night & Shatter the Scales looks like the most interesting crackle I've seen so far.
ReplyDeleteAhhh! I have never wanted a crackle before, but that Shatter the Scales is tempting me!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely love the shatter!! especially the color of it!
ReplyDeleteAwww No love for the poor frosty pink lol
ReplyDeleteI love the white, too!
ReplyDeleteAnd it's available and most Merle Norman Cosmetic Studios :)
I've been waiting on this line to come out for a while now. I think my must have has changed from Just spotted the Lizard to Number One Nemesis. Your swatches of it are gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I was also incredibly surprised there was no red. I was honestly disappointed in this collection because I felt like they focused more on the villain than Spidey himself. I mean, come on, where's the radioactive polish?
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering why there isn't a red in the collection?! I would of thought red instead of the pink...
ReplyDeleteMy mother would be one of those people lol
ReplyDeletehow easy/difficult did you find it to remove Number One Nemesis? I used it a few times and find that it's quite tedious to remove /:
ReplyDeleteI held a remover soaked pag on my nail for about 30 seconds and got it off without any issues
ReplyDeleteLearned your trick with the white polish the hard way. I like white polish, too, and a good creme is hard to find. Gonna try this one, after reading your blog. Than ks!
ReplyDeleteI like the pink frostie that is your web or mine. Just my taste I guess. :)
