FingerPaints Summer 2012 Summer In The City Collection Swatches

Hi guys! Hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day...I didn't do much, it was nice! I love when I get 3 day weekends, I wish I had them all the time. Actually I wish every day was the weekend...that would be even better haha!

Today I have a pretty Summer collection from FingerPaints to show you guys, it's called the Summer In The City Collection! This collection includes some great creme polishes along with a pretty shimmer and an awesome glitter!

To see swatches & reviews of each shade click the read more button below!

Beach Bound is a gorgeous purple creme. I think a nice purple like this is a good addition to everyone's collection. It reminds me a bit of China Glaze Grape Pop but I think it might be a touch more dusty (if memory is serving me right!). The formula was great, depending on how you polish it could be a 1 coater! I ended up using 2 coats to cover a couple bald spots but it was barely needed! This one does dry a little dull, which you can kind of see in my photos.

Flip Flop Fuschia is a pretty fuschia pink creme. I don't feel like it's super unique but I like it nonetheless. The formula was again, really nice. I used 2 coats for the photos below but could have easily gone with 1 coat!

Late Night Rendezvous is a shimmery blue. This reminds me a lot of Zoya Charla but it's not nearly as green....if you've been looking for a more blue version of that polish this is for you. The formula was nice, more opaque than I expected...I used 2 coats for the photos below. I thought this might stain so I used 2 coats of base coat....even with that extra layer of base coat I still had staining :(

Shade

Movie In The Park is an awesome purple glitter. I see purple, blue and pinkish red glitter in the mix! This has a slightly purple tinted base so it's easy to get it opaque. The glitter is also very fine but the coverage was great! I used 2 coats for the photos below, I tend to polish in thick coats so if you don't I think this would probably be a 3 coater!

Sexy Sundress is an awesome chartreuse green creme. I love this polish so much, I looooooove colors like this! The formula was unfortunately not ideal...it was very thick, almost goopy. I did manage to apply it without too many problems but I would recommend thinning it with polish thinner (not nail polish remover!!) if you get this. It was a little streaky at first but it leveled itself out nicely, I used 2 coats for the photos below.

To-Teally Hot is a teal blue creme. The formula was great on this one, it was a little thick but I don't mind because it was also an easy 1 coater! It does dry a little dull, which you can see in my photos though. Also, I had an issue with staining....even when I used 2 coats of base coat :(

Overall I do like this collection, there are some great polishes that are good for when you are starting out your collection and are looking for the basics. My picks are Sexy Sundress and Movie In The Park. The only ones I would suggesting passing on are Late Night Rendezvous and To-Teally Hot, beautiful colors but they stain.

The Summer In The City Collection is available now, each polish retails $4.99 and are available exclusively at SallyBeauty.com. I'm not sure if these will be in stores also, if you've seen them in a Sally Beauty store near you please let me know in the comments!
Edited to add: these are in stores also...just not in mine yet! Thanks for letting me know guys!

  5. I've seen them in stores. It was out at a few Sally's stores near me for a while now. Came out before the neon collection did.
I passed on late night rendezvous, but your swatch makes it look so pretty that I'm wanting to go back and get it!

  7.  To-Teally Hot looks like it could be a dupe of OPI Fly.

  15. Sexy Sundress and Movie in the Park are the 2 I picked up right at the end of April (a new Sally's opened that week, and they put out the collection early).  I've still be toying with getting Late Night Rendezvous... I was concerned it was a dupe of a few I had already, but I re-swatched my collection this weekend on new nail wheels and realized the ones I had were more greenish (Essence Choose Me, which is a Zoya Charla dupe like you mentioned).  Thanks for showing the full collection!  I've seen the FP press release all over the place and they show Sexy Sundress as a bright yellow- it's nice to see a real swatch of it :)

  20. Don't you think Sexy Sundress is a dupe of OPI Did It On 'Em?

  21. They're on sale right now for $2.99 at Sally!  A couple are out of stock though.

  22. It's not a dupe, the OPI is more yellow toned and a tad bit darker. Depending on how much you like colors like that you probably don't need both though!

  23. I think that To-Teally Hot is a dupe of OPI Fly as well. Can you do a comparison?

  24. Okay, so I've been looking through your entire blog to find a perfect color thst I'm actually not sure what I'm looking for, but I noticed I keep running into you s
saying, "it's like China Glaze Grape Pop" cpuld you do a comparison of ALL your grape pop-like polishes??
