NOTD: Mini Mani

Hi guys! Today I have a NOTD that matches my new car!! I went and picked up my new Mini Copper, finally yay! I got home and tried to find a polish that matches the paint color. My mini is an "ice blue" color which is a little bit blue, a little bit green and a little bit grey. Amazingly, I didn't have a match in my gigantic nail polish stash so I mixed a whole bunch of stuff together until I got as close as I could to the color of my car. I wish I could tell you the concoction but I wasn't keeping track of anything. The only things I know for sure are in there are China Glaze For Audrey, China Glaze Aquadelic and China Glaze Sea Spray but there was little bits of other polishes too.

I sponged my mini franken over white (because the roof of my mini is white!) it's not exactly what I was going for but that's okay! My Grandma thought it was cute when I went to show her my car so I consider it a success...Grandma approval wins over my own approval lol

Strangely when I look at the above photo of my nails then the ones below of my car they don't even look close o.O I think it's the difference in lighting ( I should have taken a picture of my hand on the car lol). Anyway...behold my cute new car below!!

For those wondering she has no name yet, I was pretty set on Eleanor but I decided to name the lady voice in the navigation that instead (yes, I name the navigation voice lady too). If you have any good suggestions for snobby sounding British lady name please let me know the in comments!

Also, no car of mine would be complete without a sparkly license plate frame and a Bayside decal!

  7. Congratulations!! I love minis!!! We have two kids, so that's not an option for us, so I'm a little jealous haha.
I think you could do a black line between the colors of the mani too, like the side of the windows!!
Today I'm wearing a Layla from the ceramic effects collection that looks pretty close, the #24 (I don't know if it has a name too, not in the bottle)...
Well I love your mani and your car!!!

  9. Enjoy the new car, I have a Mini Cooper too! Her name is Boo (like the girl in Monsters Inc). I am from England and the only "posh" names I can think of a Barbara, Penelope and Beatrice (not sure if they are English though). Let us know what you decide to call her :) xx

  40. Gertrude, Beatrice, Bernadette, Edith, Eunice. I am incredibly jealous of your car, I want one soooo bad but it is out of my budget :( One day, one day...

  41. You new mini is sooooo cute! Love it! Hope you get tons of fun and function from it for many, many yrs to come! Oh - I love the Penolope name for her - or if you want something 'non- human' find a fun polish name you like and call her that - here we are all 'assuming' your car is a girl! She just looks it should be for some reason! But then you might want to call 'it' something cute like Sunshine and then call it Sunny for short - who knows? You will settle on something here soon I am sure.

  42. I'm a huge Jane Austen fan.  There are lots of snobby British names in her books, and of course you can tack "Lady" to the front of any name you choose to add extra snob.  ;)

    Lady Catherine de Bourgh
    Caroline Bingley
    Isabella Knightley
    Margaret Dashwood
    Isabella Thorpe

  46. Love your car! Name it Fergie. Thats my cats name and i love it. She's fergalicious!

  47. Love your mani and the car is so cute. I drive an SVU (it's the only way the huge 18 wheelers can see you on 95 in Florida) so I cannot imagine driving anything so small!
As for the name, how about Agatha (as in Agatha Christie?) Or is that not snobby enough? I do like Beatrice too!
Quick question- what do you use to get stains off your nails? I tried Orly cutique, but it didn't work. My nails are neon yellow from wearing CG Sunshine Pop with only one base coat layer. :(

  48. beatrice or priscilla? the car is adorbs!

  68. Prissy english names? Priscilla, Penelope (I hink Priscilla is even prissier than Penelope), Eglantine, Evangeline, Eugenia.... I wish I could have a mini. We get too much snow out here, I'd worry about how it would navigate in the snow... it's ADORABLE. congrats!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Cute car! How about Millie, Eugenie (would be cute with Eleanor), or Phillipa?

    ReplyDelete
  70.  Have you ever checked out the Mini Cooper Countryman? It's like a bigger version, they are pretty roomy and are 4 doors! They drive really nicely!

    ReplyDelete
  71.  It's a Mini Cooper Hardtop :)

    ReplyDelete
  72.  thanks! Love them!

  73. I love your Mini! The color is amazing.

  75. So cute!  When I think of snooty British ladies, I think of 'Helena', 'Penelope', 'Margaret' or 'Marge', and 'Eliza'.  ^_^

  76. I agree with Stacey- Winnie the mini for sure! :)

  77. Eeee! I didn't realize you were a Bayside fan! And a Mini Cooper lover! This only makes me love your blog more. I just recently subscribed and I'm definitely glad for that fact <3

    ReplyDelete
  78. I think Elizabeth for some reason.

    And Bayside FTW!! <3

    ReplyDelete
  79. oh man I LOVE Bayside, it's rare that I run across people who even know who they are! I'm happy you found my blog!!

  80. Super cute MINI! I actually did a MINI mani myself for MINIs on the Dragon. :)

But about a name - when I think of British ladies, I think of a lovely older lady I met on a cruise named Janet. She definitely had some spunk! She even got my boyfriend to eat his vegetables - and he HARDLY ever does that! :D

    ReplyDelete
  81. Aww I wish I could afford a Mini!

I have no ideas on names as I probably would choose a guy's name for my future car. Also, your navi lady doesn't have a name already? In my dad's navi the different voices have names. so you're not odd for naming her

    ReplyDelete
  82. Really cute car! I have a white Jetta and I named him Bennie after the Elton John song. (Bennie and the Jet...ta.) I really like Stacey's suggestion of Winnie, lol too cute.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Judi Dench! She always plays a snobby character!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Are you saying that Eleanor is a snobby sounding English name?! My name is Eleanor and I am English! Beauuuuuuutiful car btw x

  85. Hyacinth is Apollo's boy lover - The name is from Greek Mythology. Hyacinth was hit by a discus (playing a game), he fell and died - it was a jealously thing going on. Did you know that's where the name came from? Interesting huh? So what did you name your car?? I came across this just now - yeah, I am late. ~smile~

    ReplyDelete
  86. I ended up naming it Beatrice!

    ReplyDelete
  87. I have same Ice Blue Mini on order, with a white top. Essie's "Borrowed & Blue" seems pretty close, I think I must wear that when I pick it up. Not sure I've the skills to do the sponging, but I'll figure out a way to add some white.
Nice choice on the Mini! I was not connecting with the 2013 colors on display at the dealership until someone drove up in an Ice Blue. It feels so refreshingly... tropical.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Thats exactly why I liked the blue...it feels kind of beachy and it's not a color you see all the time. Hope you love your Mini as much as I love mine!

    ReplyDelete
  89. On closer inspection, the Essie Borrowed and Blue needs to be lightened and/or greyed ever so slightly -- but it's close enough. This is my first Mini -- it sure looks like a fun car, even funner in the Ice Blue. (To me, it also looks like a throw-back color, like something you would see on a Vespa in Italy.) All best to you!

    ReplyDelete
  90. I have a MINI also! How much do you love it?!

    ReplyDelete
  91. It's alright, not as fantastical as I had imagined. I've had a lot of issues with the tired and brakes on mine :(
