Saturday Spam: Zoya

Happy weekend! Today I have my very last Zoya spam for you guys! I know have my entire Zoya collection swatched and posted! I patted myself on the back for actually getting this done, usually I tell myself I'm going to swatch all the polishes in a brand that I own then give up like half way through haha! Now I need to find another brand in my stash to do this with! I'm thinking maybe Essie or Orly since I don't seem to have a ton of un-posted polishes from them.

Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Tuff Scent Curtain Call & Purr-O-Gative

TGIF! Anyone have fun plans this weekend? I am re-living my high school days via concerts this weekend! Tonight I'm going to see MxPx and tomorrow I'm going to see a band called Codename Rocky . I'm mucho excited, I haven't seen MxPx live in a few years and I haven't seen Codename Rocky live in like 10 years because they broke up. If you've ever heard of Codename Rocky we should be besties because I've literally never met anyone who knew who they were other than the people I was friends with in high school.

Today I have 2 polishes from Tuff Scent's Lyrical Collection to share with you guys! I actually meant to share these with you a long time ago but the post somehow got lost in the black hole of drafted half done posts I have ha! If you've never heard of Tuff Scent please let me introduce you to them...Tuff Scent makes gorgeous polishes with amazing scents that last for 24+ hours. I find that the scent does fade but I can still smell it after a couple days. Tuff Scent doesn't make run of the mill scents like we see from everyone else where it just smells like you are living in a cloud of cotton candy...the scents are unique and they smell pretty awesome!

Curtain Call is fine aqua blue glitter in a clear base. This was more dense than I thought it was going to be, which was a nice surprise! The scent for Curtain Call is Tropical Breeze. I can't even tell you guys how amazing this smelled, I wish had smell-o-vision on here! It wasn't sugary or sweet, it literally smells like amazing wind (yes I realize that sounds ridiculous, but I swear that's what it smells like). I used 1 coat of Curtain Call over Zoya Indigo for the photos below. I did use a top coat and could smell the wonderful scent just fine!

Purrr-O-Gative is royal purple glitter in a clear base. This glitter also gives great coverage and it isn't as finely milled as the glitter in Curtain Call. The scent is Pink Bouquet, to me I smell a bit of flowery and a bit of a sugary scent. It's not sugary to the point of giving me a headache which is the problem I have with most sugary scented polishes. pink boquet scent. I used 1 coat of Purr-O-Gative over Zoya Sloane for the photos below!

Tuff Scent polishes are $10 each and can be purchased on Tuffscent.com. They have a ton of gorgeous colors and amazing scents to go with them!

Nails Inc Royal Arcade

Hi guys! It's almost Friday, woohoo! Last night I tried to go to the food trucks that are around here every Wednesday and there was like a bazillion people there (thank you Grilled Cheese Truck). Usually I like when that truck is there because then the lines for all the other trucks are shorter but last night there were SO many people there that all the lines were long :( What I'm trying to say here is that I didn't get anything...it was sad. To put some salt in the wound the trucks won't be back until the end of August because of the Orange County Fair. Now I need to find something else to do on Wednesday nights haha!

On to polish...today I have an awesome glitter bomb from Nails Inc to show you called Royal Arcade. It's part of their Nail Jewelry collection! Royal Arcade is a bright sapphire blue chunky glitter, there is a whole mix of sizes of glitter in here...everything from big hex glitters to fine glitter. It's a really nice dense glitter, more dense than I was expecting actually! I had no major application issues, I did have to dab this a little bit but that was just be trying to get the glitter exactly where I wanted it. You can definitely wear this on it's own, though I'm sure removal would be a nightmare then...but it sure would be gorgeous! I used 1 coat of Royal Arcade over Nails Inc Black Taxi for the photos below.

I needed a couple coats of top coat to get everything smooth. I wore this combo for 5 days last week and barely had any tip wear when it was time take it off, I am impressed!

Nails Inc. is available in the US at Sephora and Sephora.com, each polish retails for $9.50!

Skin Food Swatches

Hi guys! Today I have some swatches from a brand called Skin Food to show you! Skin Food is a Korean brand that I've heard of on other blogs but I didn't know was available in the states. I was shopping a couple weeks ago and came across the store while trying to find Claire's. At first I almost didn't go in because I didn't think it was going to be the Skin Food I had heard of. Obviously, curiosity got the best of me and I went in...the store was awesome! There was a ton of polishes along with makeup and skin care things! I'm still shocked I got out of there spending only $21 haha! As soon as I get paid I will be going back...my wallet is not happy about it!

Nostalgic Nail Lacquer Clueless Collection Swatches!

Hi guys! I am excited for today's post, if there is one movie I can quote like no one's business it's Clueless. When I saw that Nostalgic Nail Lacquer was doing a little mini collection of polishes named after the movie you best bet I was waiting for them to go on sale, money ready! I am secretly hoping that maybe there might also be some additions to this Clueless collection, there are so many other great lines from the movie that would make for funny nail polish names.  You know like Suck & Blow, Whatever, Crimson Tide (ew, I know but it would probably make a pretty polish!)

Slowly but surely all these awesome indie brands are making polishes based off of my favorite things from when I was younger. If someone would like to make a collection based on Bring It On and Mean Girls I think my nail polish life would be complete haha!

Icing Rave Royalty

Hi guys! Hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was nice, the concert on Saturday was great and Sunday was nice and relaxing!

Today I have another polish from Icing to share with you, it's called Rave Royalty. Rave Royalty is a flake glitter polish that flashes orange, gold & green. It's pretty much the same as China Glaze Luxe and Lush that came out earlier this year. Rave Royalty has a very sheer pink base but I don't think you could ever build it up to be opaque no matter how many coats you used. For the photos below I layered Rave Royalty over Zoya Hope, all photos are in the shade!

Icing polishes are only available at Icing stores, they retail for $4.50 each but are always Buy 1 Get 1 Half off!

Nails Inc. Kings Cross

Hi guys, happy weekend! Anyone have fun plans for this weekend? I'm going to a concert tonight...I'm going to see a band called Lit. They are one of those bands I try to go see when they play around here, I think for nostalgic reasons lol! One of the first concerts I went to with friends was Lit with Eve 6 waaaaaaaay back in 1999 (I think it was that year, sometime around then lol)!

Today I have a neon crackle from Nails Inc to show you called Kings Cross. It's a bright neon orange! I know most of us are over crack polish but I'm loving these neon shades for summer! I used Kings Cross over Nails Inc. Floral Street which is a white creme. I have to say, I really enjoyed the formula of Floral Street, white can be tricky and it was a nice 2 coater that wasn't super streaky! I did use top coat for the photos below, it's also much brighter in real life!

Nails Inc is available in the US at Sephora and Sephora.com for $9.50!

Degen's June 2012 Barkbox

TGIF! Today I have a non-polish post, I need a little break from polish after the last few days :) Degen got his Barkbox for June in the mail a few days ago so I thought I would share it with you! I've posted a couple times about Barkbox but in case you have no idea what the heck this is let me tell you! Barkbox is a monthly sample box of goodies for dogs! We have a whole bunch of these for Beauty so it's fun that there are ones for dogs also!

You can go on Barkbox.com and fill out a survey to get started. There are 3 options available depending on the size of your dog...there are also different kinds of subscriptions you can get that range in price from $17-$25 per month. If you are like me and like to spoil your dogs this is a nice treat every month! The June box is Degen's third box and so far I've been very impressed with everything he's gotten...I consider it money well spent! If you want to get July's box for your dog make sure you sign up by the 10th, that's the cut off to make sure you receive that month's box!

Here is what Degen's box looked liked with everything in it! There is also a card that lists everything in the box and gives an overview of the theme of the box. This box is a summer theme!

Essie Summer 2012 Collection Swatches!

Hi guys! Today I have Essie's Summer 2012 collection to show you. I'm not sure if there is an *official* name for this collection so I've just been calling it Summer 2012 haha! Just a heads up, this post does not include a swatch of Bikini So Teeny, I do have it and love it but I could not for the life of me get it to photograph color correct. I tried to color correct it on my computer and well, I suck at anything that is not cropping and putting a watermark so that didn't work out either! I'd rather not post something if it's reallllly far off from how it looks in real life...hope you guys don't mind! I did post it yesterday in some layering if you want to check it out there, you can find that post by clicking here.

On to the rest of the collection...click the read more button after the collage to see swatches of the other 5 polishes in this collection!

Pretty & Polished Sand Art

Hi guys! Today I have a pretty indie polish called Sand Art to show you! This is an awesome matte glitter from Pretty & Polished! I had my eye on this for quite some time and finally caved and bought it when her shop was open a few weeks ago! Sand Art has a whole array of different colors of matte glitter in the mix including green, blue, pink, yellow and purple! This has nice glitter coverage so you could wear it on it's own but I like to layer glitters like this because they are a nightmare to remove on their own haha!

I used 1 coat of Sand Art over Essie Bikini So Teeny for the photos below. I did need a couple coats of top coat to smooth everything out! Both photos are in direct sunlight!

Pretty & Polished is available on etsy here! It looks like her next restock is tomorrow night! Full sized polishes go for $8.50 each!

China Glaze On Safari Collection Comparisons

Morning! Today I have a few comparisons for the China Glaze On Safari Collection to show you. If you missed my swatches of the entire collection you can check them out here! Some of these were asked for and some were just me searching my stash. There are a couple that were requested that unfortunately I'm not able to do because I cannot for the life of me find the polish you asked to be compared. My stash is kind of crazy so things are everywhere right now!

First up is OPI Ginger Bells vs. China Glaze Desert Sun vs. Nubar Toasted Marshmallow. No dupes here, these are actually more different than I thought they would be! I used 2 coats of each polish below.

China Glaze Elephant Walk vs China Glaze Pelican Gray. No dupes here either, again much more different than I thought they would be! I didn't realize how light Pelican Gray was until I put it next to Elephant Walk. They are the same kind of polish though, same shimmer and whatnot so if you like one you'll probably like the other. I used 2 coats of polish for each.

Essie School of Hard Rocks vs. China Glaze Exotic Encounters vs. Finger Paints Vintage Velvet. No dupes here either. Exotic Encounters is brighter and not as dusty as the other 2 polishes. I used 2 coats of polish for each.

Finger Paints Catwalk Queen vs China Glaze Kalahari Kiss vs Butter London Brumster. No dupes for Kalahari Kiss...but hey, it looks like Brumster and Catwalk Queen are pretty similar so this wasn't a total waste right! I used 2 coats of each polish for the photo below!

China Glaze First Mate. vs China Glaze Man Hunt vs OPI Dating A Royal. Originally I wanted to compare Man Hunt with Revlon Royal but my bottle is missing in the black hole of my room so I searched my stash to find other things that could be close. I used 2 coats of First Mate and Man Hunt and 3 coats of Dating A Royal for the photo below.

This next one isn't a comparison but it was asked for several times so I thought I'd just throw it in with this post. Here are the 2 glitters from the collection on their own and not layered. I used 2 coats of each...they are pretty opaque!

I'm Not Lion is on the left and I Herd That is on the right

There might possibly be a part 2 of this post, but no guarantees for that. I'm still searching my stash for a couple polishes that were requested comparisons!

Icing Shredded

Hi guys, hope you all had a good weekend! Today I have a goodie from Icing to show you called Shredded. It's black shredded glitter in a clear base! There was a polish very similar this I tried to get from an indie brand for ages and never managed to snag so I was jumping for joy when I found out Icing had a dupe. Not only is it cheaper but I don't have to stalk an etsy shop while F5-ing like a polish crazed lunatic to get it haha!

I used a coat of Shredded over Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Parrot for the photos below. You do want to put a couple coats of top coat over this. Usually texture doesn't bug me but it did with this, I kept wanting to peel the glitter off every time I would notice the texture pre top coat.

Icing polishes are only available in Icing stores as far as I know. I believe this was $4.50 but as always Icing polishes are Buy 1 Get 1 Half off so it's a pretty sweet deal!

China Glaze Under The Boardwalk, Version 2?

Hi guys, quick post for today. Yesterday when I posted my picks from the China Glaze Summer Neons Collection a few people commented that their bottle of  Under The Boardwalk was much more purple than my photos looked. At first I thought maybe it was just a case of neons being a pain to photograph but I decided to take a trip to Sally's and wouldn't you know...the bottle of Under The Boardwalk was completely different than the bottle I had and swatched. I bought the more purple version so I could show you guys!

I posted a photo of these 2 bottles next to each other yesterday on my Facebook and a couple other bloggers said that they have picked up 2 versions also. Prior to that I thought I just had a mislabeled bottle or something along those lines. I guess it's more of a bad quality control issue somewhere along the way which led to 2 very different polishes. Always weird when that happens! I have to say, I do like both versions so I don't really mind this too much! To see the 2 Under The Boardwalk's side by side scroll down to the end of the post!

I used 2 coats of this version of Under The Boardwalk for the photos below. The formula was pretty good, a bit thick but no application issues!

Here are the 2 bottles side by side, the bottle I bought yesterday is on the left and the other bottle I have that was swatched in my post yesterday is on the right!

Also, here are both versions in my swatches put side by side!

So what do you guys think...does it bug you when stuff like this happens? Which version of Under The Boardwalk do you have?

*The more pink version of Under The Boardwalk was sent for review. The purple version was purchased by me!*

China Glaze Summer 2012 Summer Neons Collection: My Picks!

Happy Weekend! Today I have some of the shades from the Summer Neons Collection from China Glaze to show you guys. I was really excited about these and thought I would buy the whole collection but then I saw them in person and was pretty underwhelmed by most of them :( I think maybe I'm neon-ed out lol! I do have 6 shades to show you from the collection, full swatches are after the jump!

Glitter Gal Furnace Glow & Fiery Furnace Swatches

Hi guys, TGIF! Anyone have fun plans this weekend? I'm planning on doing some shopping for my trip to Vegas next month! I need to find cute yet comfy shoes that I can walk around in all day without my feet wanting to kill me afterwards...that should be fun! I also need to find clothing that is not jeans and a hoodie :( I swear that's like my uniform in life. I guarantee 99% of the time I'm wearing jeans, a band hoodie and flip flops....the other 1% of the time I'm wearing pajamas lol!

Today I have 2 Glitter Gal polishes to show you, both of these are from their Shade Shifter Collection. The Shade Shifter collection is made up of 2 parts...brilliant and soft. I'm a big fan of the whole collection, I love duochromes and multichromes! I decided to post these 2 polishes together because they are kind of like fraternal twins, I thought it might be helpful to see them side by side in 1 post!

Dermelect ME Collection Swatches

Hi guys! Today I have 3 polishes from Dermelect's ME Collection to show you guys. You may be familiar with Dermelect because of different nail treatments they make but now they are introducing Peptide-infused colored nail lacquers also. These polishes are infused with ProSina which is a pure protein peptide extracted from New Zealand’s sheep’s wool. I think that's pretty neat, can't say I own any other polishes like that! Some of the benefits of these peptide infused lacquers that Dermelect lists are that it strengthens weak brittle nails, helps nails resist chipping and splitting and it's water and detergent resistant. I especially like that last benefit, I know a lot of people have problems with polish lasting because of jobs that require them to wash their hands often. I'd be interested to know if that claim is true!

Orly Flash Glam FX Collection Swatches

Happy Wednesday! Today I have another collection post for you! Orly recently announced that they were coming out with 22 glitters as part of their Flash Glam FX Collection. The first 5 of those 22 glitters started popping up in stores and of course, I had to buy them all because I love glitter! I kind of feel like Orly has been paying attention to trends and maybe all the indie stuff that has been coming out these past few months. These definitely feel like something we'd see from an indie seller!

China Glaze Fall 2012 On Safari Collection Swatches

Hi guys! Today I have a Fall collection to show you guys...yep, already! Seems mighty early, I know. I thought about holding off on posting these since Summer hasn't even officially started but I changed my mind because I've been looking forward to this collection for a while!

China Glaze's On Safari Collection has been something I've been looking forward to since the first photos of it popped up a few months ago. I love the theme and color palette! Fall collections are usually my favorites, I don't know why...maybe the dusty dark shades or something, they make me happy (is that weird?). I tend to wear these kinds of colors year round, I don't really care if they fit with the season or not. It's pretty much always Summer in So Cal anyway so it's not like I even have a "Fall" to wear them in. Anyway, hope you all enjoy the swatches. Check out all the photos after the jump!

OPI Launches Outrageous Neons mini pack!

Hi guys, hope you're all having a good weekend! Who's excited for True Blood tonight?? meeeeeeee! I've missed Eric Northman in my life haha! I just wanted to share a quick press release with you today! OPI is putting out their first ever neons! I kind of can't believe they've never done neon before. These should be hitting stores in July, I can't wait! I'll definitely be on the lookout for these!

Sizzling, Fluorescent Hues!

OPI Announces New Limited Edition Outrageous Neons, the Brand’s First Neon Lacquer

OPI launches its first neon nail lacquer with the Outrageous Neons mini pack, including four limited edition neon shades, a neon white base coat, and OPI Top Coat. The four fluorescent hues include vivid shades of yellow, orange, pink and purple. The essential step for achieving the best results is to prep nails with one coat of neon white base, followed by two coats of neon lacquer. Colors dry matte, but adding one layer of OPI Top Coat results in bright, bold color with a shiny finish.

“Outrageous Neons marks OPI’s foray into the world of neon color,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director.  “In the US, the FDA requires that all cosmetic colorants be approved, and each batch must be certified for purity. The lacquers in this set are formulated with new, FDA-approved neon pigments for a look that’s dazzlingly vibrant.”
Along with neon white base and OPI Top Coat, the four shades in the Outrageous Neons mini pack include:

Ridiculously Yellow
So yellow, it’s beyond understanding.

Formidably Orange
Brace yourself for this powerful orange.

Riotously Pink
This pink has been known to create a scene.

Seriously Purple
I really mean it…it’s really purple!

As with all OPI nail lacquers, Outrageous Neons contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde. This limited edition mini pack promotion will be available beginning July 2012 at professional salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for  $19.95 ($24.95 CAN) suggested retail for each mini pack (includes all six products).

Glitter Gal Transitions Soft Red

Hi guys, happy Friday!! Today I have a pretty Glitter Gal polish from their transitions collection to show you. This shade is called Transitions Soft Red. It's a opalescent white base that is supposed to transform whatever polish you put it over...there are a few other shades in the transitions like soft green and soft blue that look the same in the bottle but completely different on the nail.

For the photos below I used 1 coat of Soft Red over black. To me this was purple...not sure if maybe over a different base color it would look more red or what. I love how this looks, sometimes shades like this are just not appealing to me because once you layer them over black they look very frosty. I was happy that there was no frosty issue here! The first 2 photos below are in the sun and the 3rd is in the shade!

Glitter Gal is available a ton of places, my bottle came from Ninja Polish, but it's also available from several other etailers including Llarowe and direct from Glitter Gal

OPI Nail Apps: Pink and Black Lace

Hi guys! Today I have one of the designs from OPI's new nail apps to show you called Pink and Black Lace. It's pretty much exactly what you would expect it to look like given the name, it looks like black lace on a pink background. I was excited when I heard that OPI would be putting out a whole line of nail apps, it's no secret I am a huge fan of things like this. For those like me who pretty much fail at nail art this is easy to do and it looks awesome!

Application was a breeze, I didn't have any issues with these being wrinkly or hard to smooth out! The package of nail apps comes with 16 strips (2 each of 8 different sizes). I didn't have a problem finding the right size for my nail beds but if you do have narrow nail beds you will most likely need to trim these because all but 1 strip is on the wide side. Since these are made from real nail polish they will dry out, I find that I can get all 10 nails done with 8 strips. Because these are mail with real nail polish they will dry out if you leave them out. I wish that OPI had included a way to save the other 8 strips, maybe give us a re-sealable pouch to put them in or something.

Just a note, I have not had a chance to wear test these yet. I have a couple more designs and I will be seeing how long I can get out of them so be on the lookout for those reviews in the next couple of weeks! All photos below are without top coat and in the sun. These were very easy to remove, you just need regular nail polish remover...nothing fancy!

Overall I really like these, I love the range of designs OPI has and they are easy to use. Like I mentioned, I do wish they had come with a way to save unused strips so they don't dry out but that's my only little con with these!

Pure Lacquer Nail Apps are available at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for the suggested retail price of $11.95.
