Essie Summer 2012 Collection Swatches!

Hi guys! Today I have Essie's Summer 2012 collection to show you. I'm not sure if there is an *official* name for this collection so I've just been calling it Summer 2012 haha! Just a heads up, this post does not include a swatch of Bikini So Teeny, I do have it and love it but I could not for the life of me get it to photograph color correct. I tried to color correct it on my computer and well, I suck at anything that is not cropping and putting a watermark so that didn't work out either! I'd rather not post something if it's reallllly far off from how it looks in real life...hope you guys don't mind! I did post it yesterday in some layering if you want to check it out there, you can find that post by clicking here.

On to the rest of the collection...click the read more button after the collage to see swatches of the other 5 polishes in this collection!

All Tied Up is a dusty rosy pink with a subtle golden shimmer. In the sun the shimmer is gorgeous, it does disappear for the most part indoors and in the shade. I like this but it feels a little grandma-ish to me but it' nice! The formula was pretty great, I only needed 1 coat for full opacity!

Shade

Cascade Cool is a light pink creme. I feel like we've seen this several times this year...it's nothing special. The formula was nice and I didn't have any issues with it being streaky. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Shade

Fear or Desire is an orange creme. As much as I love orange I'm kind of orange-d out to be honest. I've had enough of it for 2012...can we have a new pantone color to obsess over now? The formula was nice, it wasn't streaky or hard to apply. I used 2 coats for the photos below. This was a touch brighter in real life!

Shade

Mojito Madness is a green creme! This is my favorite of the collection, which isn't surprising...I love a good green! I really love this shade of green, it's a nice yellow toned kind of grassy green color! The formula was again pretty nice, I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Shade

Off The Shoulder is a bright pink creme. Again, pretty but not very unique so I'm not omg-ing over it or anything. I thought this was actually going to be a dupe of Nicole by OPI All Kendall-ed Up but it's not quite as dark. The formula was good on this one too, I used 2 coats!

Shade
Overall this collection is okay, kind of boring and been done for the most part though. My picks are Mojito Madness and Bikini So Teeny. I loved Bikini So Teeny, I wish I could have gotten it to photograph correctly so I could show it to you not in a layering kind of way!

This collection is available now, I've seen it in stores like Target and pretty much all the drugstores around here. It's also online at places like Transdesign.com

  1. the official name of this collection is 'Bikini so Teeny' as far as I know :) I bought a 4-mini-pack of it and it, so I don't have All Tied Up and Cascade Cool, but those are the ones I liked the least from the collection so it's ok. My favourite is Mojito Madness :)
If you ever get a chance could you make a comparing post of Jessica's Banana Peel and China Glaze Lemon Fizz, please? :)

  2. I love all of the shades in this collection. (well maybe not All Tied Up so much) THanks you for the great swatches.
I've only got MojitoMadness and I plan on getting Bikini So Teeny as well (I just is sold out everywhere) I plan on doing an on-line haul in the future, so I just gotta wait (and HOPE) TD gets its back in stock. Everything else like you said sin't really that unique. Maybe when it goes on clearence.

  3. I like cascade cool and fear or desire but I definitely own similar shades already so I'm not sure it'd be worth investing!

  4. I love mojoto madness so much I bought 2! Hehe.. I agree bikini so teeny is a pretty color, my favorite type of blue. All tied up seems similar to O.P.I Gouda Gouda two shoes or is it just me?

    1. She mentions in the above post that she couldn't get BST to photograph color correct, so she didn't post it. :)

Beautiful!  Do you have "Your Hut or Mine?" and if so, how do you think it compares to "All Tied Up?"  Also, "Splash of Grenadine" compared to "Cascade Cool".

  10. Mojito Madness is my favorite! I absolutely love it in the bottle, but I almost never wear green, so I haven't purchased it yet. :\

  26. I just found your blog and I've put it straight into my bookmarks xD (nail polish addict here too :P)

I looked up bikini so teeny on google, and to bad you didn't get the color right, I fell in love with it at first sight!
To bad we don't sell that brand here in the Netherlands (as far as I know), so if I want to buy it, I need to buy it online :p (oh addiction, why are you so cruel to me xD)

  27. You can Buy essie @ Etos en DA!!!

  28. Based on some of the names they should call it the 50 Shades of Christian Grey collection.   I think I need Mojito Madness and All Tied up  :)

PS - I'm over all the oranges too  - even though I am wearing CG Riveting even as I type

    ReplyDelete
  29. where's bikini so teeny? It's your fave but you forgot it! : ) I also like Mojito Madness and Fear or Desire

    ReplyDelete
  30. I didn't forget it, there is a whole paragraph at the beginning of the post explaining why it's excluded from the post :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. OMG I would love to see a 50 Shades of Grey nail polish collection!

  32. I'm  absolutely in love with your swatches of Mojito Madness and I think I need it!  I don't have enough greens yet.  Also, if anyone happens to be looking for Cascade Cool, for some reason that shade already went on clearance at the Target I work in!

    ReplyDelete
  33.  I stand corrected! : ) BTW I love your site, it is really helpful to see the polishes!

  34. Hi!
Do you think Cascade Cool could be a good dupe for Chanel's May ?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Do you think the colors are similar between Off The Shoulder vs If you moust you moust? If OPI is just renaming old polishes that would be a bummer :( I think be a dahlia is very similar to another color in the Minnie Mouse collection. Love your blog!! :)

  36. mojito madness is my favourite too! perfect colour! And bikini so teeny!

  37. So not related to this post at all BUT...any thoughts on Llarowe no longer carrying Lynnderella due to her drama?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I do think it was smart of Llarowe to drop the line but honestly, I'm really sick of seeing all the drama. It's exhausting and stupid lol Hopefully it'll calm down for a while!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm not sure, I don't own the Chanel...sorry!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Thanks <3

    ReplyDelete
  41. thank you! Thanks for the info too, that's crazy it's already on clearance!

  42. I might have said this before, but your nails are SO INCREDIBLY GREAT.

  48. All Tied Up is the 1980s wall color, "Dusty Rose." Your grandma would love it.

  49. Love Mojito Madness and Off The Shoulder.

  50. I bought mojito madness on a whim 2 weeks ago and I love it!!

  51. I like All Tied Up - a bit of a more unusual colour.  And I have a top that it would go with so perfectly...

  52. I've only recently gotten bit by the nail polish bug.  I only have one Essie polish and it's a sheer pink (shocking I know).  I always look, but their non pink colors usually seem sort of flat and uninteresting.  Maybe it's just what's been coming out lately.  What are your favorite Essie shades?  Are their any of their older polishes I should look for online?

    ReplyDelete
  53. All Tied Up kinda looks like OPI Gouda Gouda Two Shoes!

  64. I don't have pictures but I can say Meet Me at Sunset is much darker and more red than Fear or Desire. They are totally different! I had Meet Me at Sunset on my toes today and bought FoD because I could tell looking at it it's much much lighter. Very different tones.

Compared to Braziliant, they are closer in colour but there's still quite a difference. FoD is a cream while Braziliant has a lot of shimmer to me, and is also a lot darker than FoD. I just tried them next to one another and there is a HUGE difference -- I prefer Fear or Desire by far!! I think it's a lot more fresh than Braziliant (but then again the shimmer of Braziliant isn't terribly flattering on me personally).
