China Glaze Magnetix II Collection Swatches!

Hi guys! Hope you all had a good weekend! Today I have the China Glaze Magnetix II Collection to share with you! I was a bit hesitant about buying these after the first Magnetix collection was (in my opinion) a big fat fail. What got me with these were the colors and the magnet, I love the different designs on it. To find out if this round of magnetic polishes from China Glaze is any better click the read more button below!

What I think of the magnet will be at the bottom of the post if you're specifically looking for that!

Bond-Tastic is a orangey tan. This color wise, I don't like...it's just not a flattering color on me. Magnetic wise, it's ok-ish. I had issues getting the designs to show up :( I haven't had a chance to try this with magnets from other brands though so hopefully it's better then. The formula was good, I used 2 coats.

Con-fused is green. I don't love this green but it's nice if you don't already have a green in your stash, I actually prefer the green Wet 'n Wild magnetic I posted a couple weeks ago. The formula was good on this one also, I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Get Charged is a dark silvery purple/grey. I like this color, it's a bit unusual since it looks very purple sometimes and very grey other times! I used 2 coats for the photos below, like the other polishes prior the formula was good!

Gold Fusion is a beautiful gold! I don't usually go for gold polish but I quite like this one for some reason. I don't however love the magnetic effect with it, it doesn't stand out very well...there isn't enough contrast between the color the magnet brings out and the base color of the polish. The formula was again, nice. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Positively In Love is magenta/fuschia. This one was my favorite post-magnet though I do feel like we've already seen this color from other brands. Formula again, was good haha! I used 2 coats for the photos below

Sparks Will Fly is a blue/purple. Love this one, but really I'm not surprised since I have 2 bottles of the Icing magnetic that is the same color. If you don't have an Icing near you and wanted that magnetic polish this is great for you! The formula was...you guessed it, good! I used 2 coats for this one also.

Below is the magnet China Glaze is putting out with this collection. Like the first magnet it has to be purchased separately and features 3 designs on a horseshoe shaped plastic plate. There is a little ridge to rest on your cuticle to make it easy to place it the correct distance from the nail.

The first design on this magnet is a circular bullseye like design. I love this design....I don't have anything like it! I didn't have any issues with the magnet being strong (at least not on Positively In Love). The only issue I have is that the design looks weird and cut off where the nail curves. I wish some of these companies would put out magnets that curve like the nail!

Next up is a straight lines design. The magnet is okay, not as strong as the circular design but it did work. Personally, I don't really care for it though so it's pretty useless to me.

Last is a grid like design. This is my favorite of the 3....I found it to be the strongest magnet wise. It was also the most 3D looking design, I couldn't stop staring at my nails while moving my hand around when I used this magnet haha. My only issue is the same as I had with the circular design, unless you have relatively flat nails it will look weird on the sides.

Overall, I like this collection of Magnetix a lot better than the original. I like the colors more and the magnet is much much better. My picks are Get Charged and Gold Fusion (love the color even if the magnetic effect isn't super strong). If you missed out on the blue/purple Icing Magnetic Sparks Will Fly is another I'd recommend.

Magnetic II from what I understand is a September release from China Glaze...however it's already available online. I bought mine on transdesign.com, I'm not sure about the availability on other etailers...when I searched Amazon last night I didn't see any on there yet.

  1. I'm feeling kind of burnt out on magnetics lately, but these are nice. I like the bullseye design - it's nice to see something different! Sparks Will Fly is by far the prettiest color!

  3. I agree with you about having a magnet that curves like the nail!! I might have to pick up that magnet just for the bullseye!

I love gold polishes and this one is really pretty, but I agree that the magnet effect doesn't really stand out all that much- which defeats the purpose-lol!

  7. I'm not very impressed with these to be honest. If the magnet effect stood out more, then I probably would be. My favorites are Sparks Will Fly and Positively In Love. Gold Fusion is my least favorite.

  10. That gold is beautiful, just a shame the pattern doesn't show up too well. I like the magenta with that magnet as well - it looks like roses :)

  12. You know, I think the magnetic thing is just not my thing at all. I'll do nail art and try other things too like micro beads etc etc... but i really cant seem to get into this whole magnetic thing.

The grey polish looks kinda interesting on its own though.

  15. Do you have an entry regarding how you apply your polishes/key to makng them look good/making them last?

  17. " I wish some of these companies would put out magnets that curve like the nail!" THIS! If you have totally flat nails, these magnets work great - but if you have totally flat nails you have a health issue or a vitamin deficiency! This is the biggest problem with magnets for sure.

  18. I bought one of the magnetix polishes from CC first collection, I was not very happy with it, I could not get the magnet to work for me. But since you mentioned that the magnet was better on the 2nd collection I may give it a try again.

  20. I bought a set of polishes from Rite-Aid. They are called Magnetix and they come with 2 oblong, curved magnets held in a plastic case. I unglued the magnet from the plastic holder so I could get it closer to the nail and I use it with all my other magnetic polishes. I haven't seen them anywhere else except Rite-Aid.

My nail supply place had these but I was not very impressed with their in-store swatches so I didn't get any. Your swatches are so pretty, I really like Sparks Will Fly and Positively in Love. PiL was the only one that tempted me in the store, but I didn't get it because I thought it was a little too close to the only other CG I own, Instant Attraction. I may return to the store for some of these now!

  23. I did not buy any of these when they came out. I was not into more magnetic polishes - the market was saturated. Also these shades did not grab me at all. Now that it's fall and I am looking here again at them, I am liking the collection. It's more in tune with fall shades - esp fall 2012 when we are seeing a lot more color and also lighter shades - not just a deep purple, deep blues - more nudes and more dusty lighter shades this yr which this collection fits right in..I have to see if Sally's still has any of these.

  24. My Sally's literally just got these in and I nabbed the sole bottle of Sparks Will Fly because I remembered how pretty your swatch of it was! :) I'm so glad I got it. Love the purple/blue combo and the designs came out really well with the magnets I used. They were sold out of Gold Fusion and Get Charged but I've collected so many magnetic polishes already that I wasn't too worried about it. <3

P.S. I have to say...your photos of Positively in Love are positively mind blowing! The bullseye design is so striking! :D
