Degen's July BarkBox

Hi guys! Today I have a non-polish post for you...yay! It's Degen's July BarkBox, he got it in the mail on Friday and he's been loving it! For those of you who haven't heard of BarkBox before it's basically a subscription service (like Birchbox, MyGlam etc...) but for dogs! It ranges from $17-$25 a month depending on the plan you choose, if you want to get it for your dog you can sign up on BarkBox.com! I believe this is Degen's 4th box and we're still loving them...it's kind of funny that out of all the subscription services I've tried this is the only one I've been 100% happy with and it's not even one I use for myself haha!

Below is what the box looked like when I opened it up, click the read more button after the picture to see photos of everything in the box!

This month the outside of the box had this cute cartoon on it! What a cute touch, nicely done BarkBox!

There was also this funny cartoon inside the box, I almost didn't see it!

The first item in the box is IncrediBubbles from a company called Pet Qwerks. They are Peach flavored! Degen was actually terrified of these, one landed next to him and he jumped then ran away...it was sad, and funny. Then I took these outside to see if Steve (the cat who has adopted us) liked them...he was more interested in trying to catch a squirrel. Finally I took them back inside to see if our other cat, Oreo, would like them. Success, Oreo is a fan!

Here is Oreo playing with his bubbles!

Next up is a bag of dog treats called YumZies by a company called Nootie, they are BBQ Chicken flavor. Degen is a big fan of these, I had to hide the box from him when it came in the mail because he could smell these and he was attempting to rip open the box.

Next in Degen's box was a T-bone steak squeaky toy from Petprojekt. Yay a squeaky toy, yes I was excited...because I like dog toys o.O Actually, I was excited about this because I knew Degen would like it...he's a squeaky toy connoisseur. Happy to report, I was right...Degen loves it!

We took the steak outside to play with it and Degen caught Steve been a creeper. We've been calling him Stalker Steve...obviously the name is fitting!

Then we brought the steak inside and Degen let his psycho out while squeaking it until his mouth hurt. Look at those crazy eyes, poor Platty (that's a Platypus toy underneath the steak) was getting all squashed while Degen was going nutso.

Then we got some cute argyle "poopy packs" from Metro Paws. Degen wasn't very excited about these but I like them! If I have to carry around yucky things when Degen goes for a walk I'm happy to at least have it in a cute bag. I feel weird after writing that...

Next was the Spinz bone from Precision Pet which is a peanut butter flavored bone/chew toy that spins around. Degen really liked this but I had to be a meanie and take it away from him after it broke while he was chewing on it. It was so sharp and hard that I was afraid to give it back to him :(

Here is a closer look at it!

Degen did enjoy the bone before I had to take it away. Sorry for the grainy photo, Degen tends to get all 'don't touch my yummies' and he runs away to eat treats and bones so I had to be stealthy and take the photo from far away haha

Last in the box was a $10 off and free shipping code for PetFlow.com. They sell 150 brands of dog food. I haven't had a chance to check out the website yet but I'm sure this is something we'll use!

Overall, Degen is a happy camper. Oreo is also happy with his peach flavored bubbles! What I love about BarkBox is that I always feel like I am getting my money's worth out of them. Sure, Degen doesn't always love everything but for the most part we haven't been disappointed!

If you want to sign your dog up for BarkBox visit BarkBox.com, to make sure you get the August box you need to sign up by 8/10/12!

  2. Love this idea for dog lovers. If I had my own dog (probably impossible to convince my husband to subscribe) receiving these in the mail would be a definite highlight of mine. If only there was a CatCombo or KittyLetters, lol.

  4. The artwork is super cute. They should make a small book out of them, if they do them every month. The one with the dog and the tree cracks me up!

  5. How cute! My dog (Mr. Bear) isn't a squeeky toy fan. He prefers things that are soft and stuffed so that he can rip out their insides...and the creepy thing is that he grooms the toy before killing it.

Great post! Made me smile like crazy :-)

  6. That is a great box! I'm considering this for my dog Pepsi, he would love it. I also love squeaky toys for him! It's so cute to watch him play with them, he'll look around at first when it squeaks like "who did that, what is that noise?" lol. Anyway great post!

  15. My dog went nuts over the yumZies too. In fact, I'm currently hiding them under a pillow so she won't find them! I had to give the Spinz to our Labrador friend because I have a nut allergy. :( The Petflow thing is pretty awesome though! It came JUST in time--we needed more pet food, so we used the coupon to order some more and it came in two days! Sure beats lugging a gigantic 35 pound bag around from the pet store.

  16. I did the month-by-month for two months, and my dog loved everything that came in the boxes so I went ahead and did 6 months at a time since you save so much money. I think the month-by-month cost has gone up to $29, sadly.

  17. has it really? I'll have to go look then update my post!

  18. Sadly, yes. :( Unless they're just targeting my IP or something, hahaha. I think they just started this month. The other prices (3 month and 6 month subscription) prices have stayed the same though.

  23. Haha am I the only one who is curious about the tase of those bubbles?! Also it kinda disturbs me that the steak says "dogmeat" seems kinda of twisted and cannibalistic!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hey this is amazing stuff! Super jealous as we don't really get anything like that in New Zealand :(

    ReplyDelete
  25. LOL I thought the same things about the steak. I almost mentioned it in the post but I felt like no one else would be like "yeah that's weird" haha

I don't think the bubbles would taste very good...I smelled them and they didn't smell like peach to me :(

  29. Your BarkBox posts always make me want to give up some other monthly subscriptions to treat my puppies to this one instead! Do you have a referral link or anything so I can give you the credits (if it is even set-up this way)??? I am totally going to join but just wondering if it is like jewelmint where I can give you the credit-like-things... :) Thanks for always sharing these and including the adorable photos!!!!

  30. I have a referral code it's JEKAR037, it should get you $5 off! I haven't figured out how to track it so I've left it out of my last 2 posts. Hope it works for you!

  33. Thanks for sharing! I found those Yumzies treats at Tj Maxx for $1 on clearance, though. So not a spectacular thing to be in the box! But, anyway. It does seem like a great deal overall!
