Hi guys! Happy 4th of July to everyone in the US! Is anyone doing anything fun to celebrate? I'll probably just watch fireworks on TV. I'm actually not a huge fan of the 4th of July festivities, maybe I'm weird...fireworks stress me out. I'm always afraid some idiot in my neighborhood is going to set off the illegal kind and they are going to land on my roof and my house is going to go up in flames or something ridiculous like that ha!
Today I have Orly's Fall 2012 Electronica Collection to show you guys. I haven't heard too much about this so I was surprised when I saw it out at my supply store last week. It's kind of a random collection color wise, but there is a little something for everyone I suppose.
Decoded is a medium grey creme. Nothing ground breaking here but I do love a good grey so I am a fan. The formula was a little on the thick side but it was easy to work with. I used 2 coats for the photos blow.
I was searching through my stashing thinking I had to have a dupe of this and couldn't come across one, unfortunately. The closest I could find was Zoya Kelly which is much darker. I'm still searching through my stash so maybe I'll find a dupe eventually! I used 2 coats of Decoded and Zoya Kelly for the photo below.
Preamp is a blue toned pink with an awesome golden flecks of shimmer. This is my favorite of the collection, I don't have anything quite like this in my stash! The shimmer wasn't in your face but you also didn't need direct sunlight to see it. In the shade and indoors it gives a beautiful depth to the polish! The formula was a tiny bit thick but easy to work with. I used 2 coats for the photos below.
Shockwave is a gorgeous blue creme. Not the most unique blue, I feel like we've seen a few this year that are similar. The formula was really nice on this one, not too thick or thin...just right! I used 2 coats for the photos below.
Below is Shockwave vs. China Glaze Man Hunt. In the bottles these looked like dupes but on the nail they are a touch different. Not sure if they are different enough to own both, I guess that depends on how much you like blue polish haha! I used 2 coats of each polish for the photo below.
Synchro is a rosy kind of mauve color with a strong blue shimmer. I'm sorry guys but I think this color is pretty ugly, it looks better in pictures than it does in real life. It's not quite as bad in the shade but it's just not for me. I need to try layering this or something, I think it might be prettier that way (hopefully!). The formula was okay, it was on the thick side and I had minor application issues but I think some thinner will help for next time. I used 3 coats for the photos below. I did have issues with this dragging so it would be best to wait a few minutes between coats.
I also wanted to mention, this one also took about a thousand years to dry on me. I did my manicure then went outside about 45 minutes later to take the photos below. When I was done taking photos I picked up Steve (the cat who has adopted our backyard as home, I'll put a picture of him below) and it totally messed up the mani. It was all dented and awful looking, usually for me 45 minutes is about 40 minutes longer than I need for a mani to be dry enough to not dent like that. :(
After I wrote the above paragraph I went into the backyard to watch Steve attempt to catch birds. While I was sitting there I noticed that he has also now brought his brother to live in our backyard...I'm assuming it's his brother anyway since they are the same size and seem friendly. If you are in the Orange County area and want some nice cats let me know....they are kittens, probably about 6 months old or so, both are nice! (I'm serious, we can't keep them and I've already asked all my friends and co-workers haha)
The Orly Electronica Collection is available now, I've seen it out at my local Sally Beauty Supply already, price will vary depending on where you buy these!
