Color Club Fall 2012 In True Fashion Collection Swatches

Hi guys! Hope you all had a great weekend! Overall mine was pretty good! Today I have Color Club's In True Fashion Collection for Fall 2012 to share with you guys! This collection consists of 6 cremes and 6 shimmers and has a little bit of something for everyone! To see swatches of each shade click the read more button under the collage!

By Design is a plum creme. The formula was pretty good, it was a little patchy on the first coat but the second coat covered really nicely. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Editorial is a green gold duochrome. Another Peridot dupe...

The formula was really nice, a 2 coater!  Both photos below are in the shade.

Fashion Moment is a vampy dark purple creme. In most light, even direct sunlight this looks black...you can see a bit of the purple base around the edges but that's about it. The formula was a bit on the thick side and patchy on the first coat. I used 2 coats for full opacity. This surprisingly dried a bit dull which you can see a little bit in the photos, usually vampy polishes like this dry really shiny!

First Looks is gorgeous blue shimmer in a blackened base. In the bottle the blue shimmer flashed quite a bit of purple but that didn't translate onto the nail. Duochrome or not I think this is beautiful! The formula was a little thick but very easy to work with. This was nearly a 1 coater, I ended up using 2 coats for full opacity but the 2nd coat was barely needed!

Shade

In The Limelight is a periwinkle creme. This walks the line really well between blue and purple, I really enjoy the color. I found a nice high end polish very similar to this which I'll be showing you in the next few days. The formula was no bueno on this polish, it was really thick to the point of me needing to thin it before I could swatch it. I usually don't like to thin things prior to swatching so I can tell you exactly how they are but this was unmanageable for me. Once I thinned this it was nice to apply and went on beautifully, I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Look Book is a red creme. The formula was pretty great on this one, I usually need 3 coats for reds like this because I can usually see visible nail line after 2 coats. That wasn't the case with this red though! I used 2 coats for full opacity!

Model Behavior is a bronzy/copper shimmer. I'm a big fan of this one at first I thought it might be a dupe of Butter London Shag but it's not as red toned and the shimmer is much finer. I love all the shimmers like this coming out for Fall this year! The formula was really great, another that was almost a 1 coater! I used 2 coats for the photos below but the 2nd coat was barely needed!

Shade

Muse-ical is a dark grey creme. The formula was nice, I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Personal Stylist is a shimmery blue. Color Club says this is a duochrome but I didn't see a color shift in the bottle or the nail so I'm not sure. The formula was nice, but a little bit on the sheer side. I used 3 coats for full opacity.

Shade
Port-folio is a gorgeous purple with a very strong green duochrome shimmer. This polish is insane....photos are doing it absolutely no justice at all. It reminds me of Zoya Adina, if you have that or like it you will like this. Unfortunately I don't own Adina so I'm not sure how close they are to being dupes but this looks much darker and less frosty than Adina judging from photos.  The formula was great, I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Shade

Shade

Sun
Show Time is a dark charcoal grey with a strong silver shimmer. If you liked Butter London Gobsmacked but don't want glitter this is for you. The formula was okay, a bit on the sheer side. I used 3 coats for full opacity.

Shade

Style Icon is a dark red creme. I was expecting this to be more vampy than it turned out being based on of how it looked in the bottle. The formula was really nice, a little patchy on the first coat but I only needed 2 coats for full opacity.

Overall I'm a bit split on this collection, I love that there is something for everyone but the 6 cremes are a bit boring to me. For someone like me who has a large collection of polish I probably have something similar to all of them. I love the shimmer half of this collection with the exception of Editorial, I am really sick of that color...I think this is at least my 5th Chanel Peridot dupe.

My picks from the collection are Port-folio, Model Behavior and First Looks!

The In True Fashion Collection is available now on the Color Club website here for $8 each. When I looked last night I didn't see these up on any of the etailers yet, I'm not sure when they will be available there or in brick and mortar stores that carry Color Club.

  1. I completely agree. I'm so over Peridot dupes. I went to Sephora and even Sephora by O.P.I has a dupe. I'm really not impressed with this collection. Think I'll pass on all of them. In The Limelight caught my eye but it reminds me of Deborah Lippmann's I know What Boys Like.

  2. Loving Personal Stylist (and any blue shimmery goodness for that matter!) and Show Time is kinda reminding me of China Glaze Stone Cold from Hunger games collection... maybe a comparison?

I just came across these on 8ty8 Beauty, as a heads up! Thank you for the swatches, there were a couple colors here I really needed to see before I bought them (hello Port-folio, you are going to be mine now!) http://www.8ty8beauty.com/nail_polishes/color-club-d.htm

I feel like we are drowning in Peridot dupes right now. Port-folio is INSANE! Have to have it!

  7. I don't own Stone Cold, sorry!

  8. Loving Model Behavior, adding it to my list, but all the other shades seem like "been there, done that". I don't particularly care for Color Club, I only own three and I don't like their formulas, but I would definitely pay full price for Model Behavior, I don't have anything like that in my collection <3

  9. Please do a opi spam or a Deborah lippman spam!!! I would love to see that!!

  10. Please please tell me you are comparing In the Limelight to YSL Blue Majorelle. That is the only high end lemming I've ever had and I'm hoping ITL is close to it.

  11. OH oh and I think Port-folio is actually close to Zoya Kiki. I might do a comp. I think Port Folio is more color shifty.

  12. Personal Stylist reminds me of into the night from the opi spiderman collection! still really pretty though (:

  13. I really like In the Limelight,Port-folio,and Style Icon.Thank you for swatching these! :-)

  14. I think Stone Cold has more silver flecks in it and dries more grey than Show Time. Stone Cold is also a matte so the silver isn't shiny.

  15. Port-folio looks freaking AMAZING. Wow. I need to get my hands on that!

Check out the giveaway I have going on on my blog! :) http://abundanceoferica.blogspot.ca/2012/08/handmade-italian-leather-bracelets.html

  16. Did it take a long time for Port-folio to dry? I hated Adina because it took forever to dry on me!

  17. Thanks so much for the swatches :)
Could you compare Port-folio with Sinful Colors Let Me Go?

  18. Question: Are there some Essie colors that weren't released as part of any collection? I was trying to figure out when Marshmallow and Mochacino were released, and I couldn't figure it out. Any ideas?

  19. Thanks for the awesome swatches! And I agree with you on the Peridot dupes----enough already. But for those of you who like them, I apologize ;)

  20. Port-folio and First Looks are beautiful! I'm going to keep my eye out for these!

  21. I love the color of Model Behavior, but it looks really streaky, and are those bubbles I see? Not sure -- I'd appreciate any more feedback on the formula. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  22. No, it wasn't streaky...the I think the bubbles you are seeing is something that landed on my nail between coats. I didn't see it until I was editing photos so I couldn't re-do the manicure.

  23. I have no idea about those Essie's, sorry...wish I could help you out there but I'm not very knowledgeable about that brand and when certain polishes were released :(

  24. I don't own that polish, sorry!

  25. I didn't notice a long dry time with it!

  26. I absolutlely love Color Club. Very affordable, not hard to find, and great quality! My fave brand. (:

  28. Port-folio is the new love of my life. I've never tried any color club polishes, I think they are next on my list!

  29. i liked the personal stylist..!!

  30. I'm loving a handful of those shades!

  31. Port-folio looks great - may have to pick it up...

    ReplyDelete
  32. OMG. Port-folio!!!!!!!! That is my must-have from this collection for sure. Amazing!!! :D Looks like there are some nice colors but I'll probably wait to see the collection in person to decide if I want anything other than Port-folio.

In the Limelight caught my eye - that is a great color. Shame about the formula though. :/ Do you happen to have Boxer Shorts from the Yogaga Collection? I just got it and it's such an amazing shade (closest thing in my stash to it was Revlon Modern Grace though Boxer Shorts was more vibrant and crisp, definitely not a dupe). I wonder how Boxer Shorts compares to In the Limelight.

  33. Port-folio is AMAZING and I want it!

Still though, *another* peridot dupe? Isn't that like number five this year alone? I was ok when the OPI one came out- it's good to have a cheap alternative to Chanel. But now all the companies are doing it! I mean, it's a nice color, but it's not *that* great...

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't have Boxer Shorts unfortunately, sorry!

Very nice colors, but I'm pretty tired to see dupes everythere... Espacially the peridot dupes.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Pretty sure I'm in love with every one of the shimmers, except Editorial. I didn't really care for Peridot; I don't need a dupe. How does Personal Stylist compare to some of the other blues this season (CG Want My Bawdy & OPI Unfor-Greta-bly Blue)? I can't help feeling they look similar in pictures, but I haven't been able to get the OPI German collection in Nebraska yet.

  37. I'll have a comparison for Personal Stylist up this week...it's a dupe of one of the ones you mentioned :)

    1. I think I know which one...We'll see how good my eye is. Did you include the blue Nicole by OPI? The name escapes me. My Target never has it for me to compare. :(

  42. Ooh, I've been looking for a good bronze that isn't too red! Definitely want to check Model Behavior out, and Show Time for a friend who loves black but is convinced she's too old for black nail polish.

  43. Hi, what brand of thinner do u use for the nail polish? I've got a few Forever21 ones that are getting too thick ._.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I use Beauty Secrets thinner, you can get it at Sally Beauty Supply!
