Orly Flash Glam FX Collection Swatches!

Hi guys, happy Friday! Today I have 6 more polishes from Orly's Flash Glam FX Collection to show you. In total there are 22 glitters in this collection! I picked up the first 5 a while back, you can see them here if you missed that previous post. I've been waiting for the rest of the glitters to be in an actual store so I could see them in person before buying so it was a nice surprise to find them at a local place last week.

I ended up buying 6 more, the rest of the glitters were pretty but they just didn't scream buy me. I love glitter but I think most of what I've wanted to see this past year has already been done by indie brands so I didn't *need* as many of these Orly's. Check out swatches of the 6 additional Flash Glam FX polishes I bought after the jump!

Cupcakes and Unicorns is a pink shimmer packed polish with red bar glitter. Let's face it, I bought this for the name...it could have been the most fug glitter in the world but call it Cupcakes and Unicorns and I am sold. Luckily this is pretty gorgeous on top of having an awesome name! The shimmer in this is all kinds of great, it looks like flecks of shimmer and they have a slight duochrome to them. I do wish the bar glitter was a little more dense since it was pretty difficult to actually get any on the nail but for those of you who don't love that kind of glitter I guess that's a good thing. I used 1 coat of Cupcakes and Unicorns over Nails Inc Black Taxi for the photos below. Al photos are in the shade.

Go Deeper is a teal blue base with blue, green and holographic glitter mixed in. This is pretty much the toned down teal version of Deborah Lippmann Across The Universe. I adore this glitter, it's very under the sea/aquarium looking....at least that's what it makes me think of! The formula was great, you can layer this if you want but it also builds easily if you want to wear it on it's own. It was great at 2 coats on it's own but I ended up using 3 coats to cover up a tiny bit of visible nail line.

It's A Meteor is red, silver and gold glitter of all shapes and sizes in a clear base. It was love at first sight here, this was the first glitter that caught my eye when I found this display. I love all the different kinds of glitter, there is a little of everything (except for bar glitter) in here...shards, squares, hex etc... Unfortunately I pretty much hate the formula, it was a pain in the butt to apply...even dabbing it on was a chore. I don't know what I need to do to fix this but I'll find a way to make it better because I love the mix of glitter. It's a Meteor is layered over OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok Fine! for the photos below, all photos are in the shade.

P.S. It does seem to me that some of the silver squares in this are curling a little bit but on the nail with a coat of top coat they were laying flat.

R.I.P is orange glitter in a sheer black base. Oh Orly, thank you....I love me some Halloween looking glitters. If you missed out on the beloved China Glaze Fortune teller this might kill that lemming for you, it's obviously not exactly the same but it's probably close enough for most people. The black base of this is very sheer but I do think you could get it opaque on it's own if you wanted to. I haven't tried that yet but I'm guessing you'd need at least 3 coats. The formula was really nice, it was easy to get a lot of glitter on the brush and it was easy to apply. I used 1 coat of R.I.P over Nails Inc Black Taxi for the photos below.

Sunglasses at Night is navy and holographic bar glitter in a very sheer blue base. I didn't realize this had a tinted base until I put this on a nail wheel, unfortunately it's so sheer that I'm pretty sure it wouldn't get opaque on it's own no matter how many coats you used. If you like bar glitter you'll love this, the holographic bits were especially nice...they aren't showing very well on my nails in the pictures but you can see them in the bottle! In person you can see the holographic bar glitter, it just doesn't translate in photos well. Formula wise this was good, it was easy to get a good amount of glitter on the brush and no dabbing was needed to get the glitter where I wanted it. I used 1 coat of Sunglasses at Night over Nails Inc Floral Street for the photos below.

Watch It Glitter is copper glitter in a clear base. I feel like I get a lot of people asking if I know of a copper glitter. Before now the only one that ever came to mind was Sephora by OPI Traffic Stopper Copper so I'm happy to have another one to tell people! I loooove this, you can't go wrong with copper glitter in my opinion! The formula was okay, it was easy to get a ton of glitter on the brush but when I would try and wipe off a side of the brush on the neck of the bottle I would literally lose all the glitter off the whole brush...what the heck! I ended up just loading up the brush and having a ton of glitter on the nail, I quite like how it turned out. I layered Watch It Glitter over Nicole by OPI If The Blue Fits for the photos below, all photos are in the shade.

The Orly Flash Glam FX Collection is available now! At all the chain stores I've seen these at (Ulta & Sally Beauty) they have only had the first 5 polishes of this collection (seen here) available. I know you can buy all 22 of the glitters on OrlyBeauty.com for $10 a piece but as far as the availability in stores I have no idea when they will be there.  I wish I could tell you guys a date for them, I did ask Orly's PR if they knew but I haven't heard back...if/when I do I'll update this post.

  1. It's nice to see another copper glitter out there. I'm sad however that the sally hansen gem crush series didnt have a nice densely packed copper glitter.

  2. Watch it glitter reminds me of shiny pennies. The one I like the most is Go Deeper. I bet it would look spectacular over black.

  3. Hope this doesn't double-post...I'm really excited about this collection! Go Deeper is definitely going to come home with me, and probably at least 2 or 3 more as well. So great to see the big brands pay starting to pay attention to some of the indie trends. As someone without much indie access (not many ship to HK, and the ones that do...the shipping $ can get expensive in a hurry), this is such a welcome development.

Thanks for the great swatches as always!

  4. Too funny! I have two copper glitters sitting in my swatch area currently! They look similar to this as well! Both of mine are cheaper though.... I need to link to you when I compare coppers!

  6. Lovely swatches!!! I really like R.I.P.! I like that 'Halloween" type color too!

Another great copper polish is from the new Finger Paints Fall line. It's Fall of Surprises! I just picked this color up yesterday along with Plum Startled and it is gorgeous! Very opaque too! They also have this bar glitter that reminds me of Icing After Party.

I actually have come across another copper glitter you might want to check out. Finger Paints has one in their new fall collection that I ALMOST grabbed at my local Sally Beauty (almost as in, it was in my hands and I ended up putting it back for I-don't-know-WHAT-reason!) Actually, it looks a lot like the Orly Watch It Glitter, mayhaps a cheaper dupe? Overall, being as I'm a HUGE glitter fan, these are amazing! Though honestly...it may not be ENOUGH glitter for me, hehehe.

  11. I love It's A Meteor! I wish the formula was better though...it is so pretty though it looks like it is worth the effort. Thanks for the swatches, they are great as usual!

  13. Another copper glitter: Jordana Copper Blaze (and cheap too!)

Also, are Go Deeper and Mermaid Tale as similar in real life as they seem on screen? It seems that the glitters are completely the same, the only difference being the tinted base?

Thanks the swatches. What beautiful glitters, it's really hard to keep myself away...

  18. These are beautif! I picked up Be Brave from
The first few that we're out and I always have to stop myself from putting it over
My manicures because I love it so much.

  19. It looks like some of the hexes in RIP are curling, or is that just the light playing tricks?

  20. Cupcakes & Unicorns,Go Deeper,Watch it Glitter I want! It's A Meteor looks great on the nail, but I wouldn't have picked it,from the way it looks in the bottle.

  21. nope they aren't, I think it's the lighting combined with the way the sheer black base is over parts of the glitter making it look that way

  22. I LOVE Go Deeper, especially since it's opaque enough to wear alone =]!

  28. Go Deeper looks like a dupe of Essence's 'Blue addicted'. Only I think Go Deeper has more glitter in it...

  29. Love Watch It Glitter, and it's really gorgeous on top of a blue polish!

  30. Watch It with that navy blue underneath...that is literally the best combo of the year!! Cupcakes and Unicorns though...the bottle makes me grossed out for some reason, plus I was never a bar glitter kind of girl. Lovely swatches though, thank you for sharing!

  36. Finger Paints came out with a copper glitter for their fall collection recently, called Fall of Surprises! The few times I've used it, the glitter has done well. It's got hex and micro glitter.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I've heard about that, I tried to find it around here but none of my Sally's stores had any left. Glad I got the Orly so it's no biggie!

  38. Ugh I want sunglasses at night so bad! I went to Sally's the other day and they had the new flash glams out, I thought I could pass on watch it glitter cause I have finger paints fall of surprises but I compared them and watch it glitter is lighter so I need it.

  39. Kleancolor has a similar copper glitter called Chunky copper, although it is a lot more shinier than Watch it Glitter :)

  44. Picked up RIP today at Sally on clearance. It's really lovely and opaque @ three coats with a top coat. Not too Halloween-y - just right for autumn.

  45. Layer three coats of Sunglasses on a navy blue or black and watch yourself go crazy!!! I even made a vid on it coz it is simply too gorgeous in motion!
