Hi guys! Today I have China Glaze's Wicked Collection for Halloween 2012 to share with you! China Glaze usually puts out my favorite Halloween Collections so I've been eagerly waiting for this to show up at my local supply shop. This years Wicked Collection gives us a couple awesome glitters and some fantastic shimmers, I am totally in love with this collection! Check out all the swatches after the jump!
Bizarre Blurple is a purple base packed with glowy blue shimmer. The formula was really nice on this polish, it wasn't thick or thin and the opacity was great! I used 2 coats for the photos below.
When I saw Bizarre Blurple it reminded me a lot of Orly Royal Velvet and Orly Mysterious Curse (you can see those compared
here). In the bottle they also look very similar, on the nail however they are pretty different both in the shimmer department and in the base color department. Below is Bizarre Blurple vs. Orly Mysterious Curse. I used 2 coats for both polishes.

Cast A Spell is a blackened base with green/gold shimmer. This looks a lot like China Glaze Wagon Trail to me, unfortunately I don't own that polish but going off photos I think it's like a much more shimmery version of it. The formula was really nice, it was nearly a 1 coater! I ended up using 2 coats for the photos below due to a little patchiness but if you are careful 1 coat would probably be fine.

Glitter Goblin is orange, silver and holographic glitter in a clear base. The formula was really nice, it wasn't thick at all, the glitter payoff was great and it was easy to apply. It did have a fair amount of texture once it dried so a couple coats of top coat is best. I used 1 coat of Glitter Goblin over Roguish Red for the photos below. This is much better in real life!

Below is Glitter Goblin on it's own. You can work this up to full opacity if you like wearing glitters that way! I used 3 coats for the photos below!

Immortal is a grey with an awesome blue and purple shimmer. I didn't realize how great this was until I got it home, the shimmer is beautiful! The shimmer was noticeable indoors and in the shade, not just in direct sunlight! The formula was okay, it was a bit sheer and patchy at first. On most nails I needed 2 coats but some needed 3.

Make A Spectacle is opalescent hex glitter in a shimmery base. This polish is awesome, if I could only have 1 from this collection this would be my pick. It's quite the chameleon that looks very different depending on what you layer it over! I layered it over a bunch of things below so you can get an idea of how great it is!

Roguish Red is a red orange creme. In the bottle this looked more orange than it ended up being on the nail. I think it's pretty but kind of a snoozefest, it doesn't do much for me. The formula was really nice and the opacity was great! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Overall I love this collection, my picks are Immortal, Make A Spectacle and Glitter Goblin! The Wicked Collection should be in stores soon if it's not already. I haven't been to Sally's or Ulta in a while so I'm not sure if it's out there yet! Apparently there will also be a mini set of these that will include China Glaze's Ghoulish Glow (Glow In The Dark Top Coat)!

Make a spectacle is the only one I actually like from this collection. Very versatile too so it'd get a fair bit of use
ReplyDeleteI actually really like these! I thought I wouldn't from promo shots but you've proven me wrong!
ReplyDeleteOh my... Make A spectacle is amazing - totally must-have :)
ReplyDeleteI love the way Make a Spectacle looks over white, and I am such a sucker for a great red (even though I hardly wear them).
ReplyDeleteI was in Ulta and Sally's yesterday and neither one of them had this collection out. Ulta did have 4 displays of China Glaze Ghoulish Glow out though. Each display had about 6 bottles of the ghoulish glow. They also had Orly's Spellbound Halloween collection out and Wet n Wild's tombstone polishes out.
ReplyDeleteI think Immortal and Cast A Spell are super gorgeous! And I want them so bad! Can't wait to get my hands on them! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd your lovely swatches make me wanna have them even more!! ;)
These polishes are great! "Make A Spectacle" is so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLove Make A Spectacle. Are you going to be getting/reviewing the A-England Gothic Beauties? I saw them on another blog but I always really look forward to your opinion before I purchase... I really hope you review!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with "Make a Spectacle." So gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHow does Immortal compare to Maybelline Cool Couture? (which I bought because of you!) And if you have L'Oreal Owl's Night, how does that compare to Cast a Spell? I'm trying to avoid dupes!
ReplyDeleteLove both the glitters...great swatches!
Thank you so much for these swatches! The ones I saw were so terrible I almost passed on this collection- now I shall be buying!!
ReplyDeleteThese are very pretty, but for some reason this doesn't scream Halloween to me. Maybe once I see it on the themed display it will.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but... Boring!! These are so blah to me and not "Halloween" at all. :(
ReplyDeleteI originally did not want any of these, but you have won me over with these swatches!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had time to compare anything I didn't mention in the post...not sure when I will since I'm still very sick. Sorry
ReplyDeleteI cant believe you're not crazy about the red one - I'm obsessed, it looks so amazing to me! ;))))
ReplyDeleteI probably won't be reviewing that collection, they don't really impress me from the swatches I've seen so I'm not going to be buying any anytime soon
ReplyDeleteI honestly feel like this collection is pretty boring...but I do need that glitter!!
ReplyDeleteI think the red one is wonderful! And so are a lot of the others to :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to see swatches of this collection, so thank you! I'm really loving Cast a Spell, Glitter Goblin, and Immortal the most. I think I'll be getting those ones for sure.
ReplyDeleteI like Cast A Spell & Make a Spectacle. I think those are the only 2 that I'll want to buy from this collection.
ReplyDeleteOh, boo. I also had been hoping to hear your opinion of them. I am so in love with A England's formula and pigmentation, but had wanted to see your take before I buy!
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better soon... what an awful week for you!
Wow! A Halloween collection that is not all goofy with shades I would never wear again and glow in the dark polishes. This one has legs which is important to me. I would were a # of these all winter long. Not sure I think Make A Spectical that great - seen it done a lot. I love the gray Immortal - and I disagree with you - I think this red is a good one - wearable by many because it's warm...I have so many reds and sure I have something close. But when CH puts out a really great cream formula they often nail it on the head and I will purge other like shades to keep the CH great cream formula.
ReplyDeletecant wait to get my hands on make a spectacle!
ReplyDeleteImmortal looks truly unique, and I have to have Make a Spectacle, what a lovely glitter. Can't wait for my Sally's to get these :-)
ReplyDeleteI agree, they are very pretty but def. do not scream halloween at all!
ReplyDeleteImmortal and Make a Spectacle look the best. I think the red is pretty nice even though I don't like reds.
ReplyDeleteI neeeeed Make a Spectacle. The rest I can live without. This seems pretty blah for a Halloween collection, IMO...
ReplyDeleteImmortal and Make a Spectacle are the only two I think I'll get - the rest are uninspiring. Make a spectacle looks like flakies in glitter form.
ReplyDeleteBizarre blurple, cg want my bawdy and opi into Thr night all kinda look the same?

ReplyDeleteYour picks are the three I think I need from this collection! I like that this isn't your standard black/orange collection.
ReplyDeleteIs S
ReplyDeleteMake A Spectacle like Snow Globe from last years CG Christmas collection. It looks fairly similar. I kind of want it but I don't want it if it's a dupe for the one I already have.
they are very similar but not dupes, the glitter is a touch different and Make A Spectacle is in a very shimmery base, Snow Globe is in a clear base. They are both gorgeous but I think the shimmery base in Make A Spectacle makes it much more interesting and special!
ReplyDeleteNice! Thank you. I'll just add that to my wish list. :D
ReplyDeletethey are very similar but not dupes, the glitter is a touch different and Make A Spectacle is in a very shimmery base, Snow Globe is in a clear base.
ReplyDeleteCast A Spell is beautiful, but it looks very similar to my Hello Kitty Night Sparkle. Great post and pics! :) oxo
ReplyDeletehot damn! i need glitter goblin and the green like whoa. maybe also the grey.
ReplyDelete<3 ya!
Make A Spectacle is a stunner! A must have for me, along with Immortal. Both now added to my wish list!
ReplyDeleteyour pics are amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the swatches! I'm such a sucker for Halloween collections. Surprisingly though, Make A Spell and Immortal are the only ones that really caught my eye. However, they really, really caught my eye. Good call on putting them together, it looks gorgeous. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteI love the collection, but I'd probably skip the blue and the red, since I have similar colors already. However, I miss those beautiful "ugly" colors that usually come out with Halloween collections.
ReplyDeleteI've seen other swatches of this collection and something bothered me about Cast a Spell. Yours made me realize: it looks a LOT like Zoya Edyta. I just googled and can't find any comparison swatches. Immortal, though, is my new obsession. I've been checking the local Sally's every time I'm in the neighborhood for the Halloween releases!
ReplyDeleteHow does Bizarre Blurple compare to the Bohemian color Want My Bawdy? They look so similar to me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the awesome swatches. Make a Spectacle is THE one that I have to have! Just looking at the swatches get me all excited!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this! I know I want Immortal and Make a Spectacle now!
ReplyDeleteYes! I'm so getting Immortal, Make A Spectacle and Glitter Goblin too! Love them at first sight!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I love Cast a Spell, Immortal and Blurple. The glitter is not that pretty though and for once a glitter polish did not make me say, "gotta have it". Make a Spectacle is the same color as Luxe and Lush from the Hunger Games collection, which I loved so much I bought 2 bottles. The glitters don't look as chunky though, but the colors are identical so I don't think I'll get that one. Ha ha now that I've said that, watch me come home with it anyway when I see it in person. I know how I am.
ReplyDeleteDid you end up grabbing Make a Spectacle? Lol
DeleteDefinitely need immortal and cast a spell for my collection. I love how they look. Am I the only person who really doesn't get into the glitter polishes? I bought the two from CG's On Safari collection and I used the Lion one once and the other one not at all so I know now not to buy them because it is a total waste for me.
ReplyDeleteHow similar is the glitter Make a Spectacle to the Christmas one that CG came out with called Snow Globe? Just wondering if I need to get it or not, since I have Snow Globe.
ReplyDeleteThe base of Snow Globe is not shimmery like Make A Spectacle is and the glitter is a bit different. They are very similar though
ReplyDeleteThis just doesn't scream 'HALLOWEEN' to me. Cast a Spell looks nice and I might hit up ULTA to grab it, but the rest are kind of "meh" and I feel like I have dupes for any of the ones I'd want. Out of curiosity, how similar is Bizarre Purple to Blue Year's Eve from their Christmas 2011 collection?
ReplyDeleteBizarre Blurple is much more purple :)
ReplyDeleteI love your blog :) I just got Make a Spectacal and Immortal after viewing your swatches. They are both so pretty and my favorites of the collection. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad you answered this question already Jen. I was looking at it at Ulta today and thinking it was exactly the same. I think I'm going to get it anyway, because I really love Snowglobe. :)
ReplyDeleteMake a Spectacle is going to be amazing over Agro <3 I'll probably pick up Immortal and Cast a Spell too. The others I can live without
ReplyDeletePlease don"t buy this product- it features stolen artwork. The artist did not give consent to have her art used or altered and has not received any payment for her work.
ReplyDeleteChina Glaze commented on that, my post doesn't even contain a photo of the artwork in question. Please leave the drama out of my comments, thank you.
ReplyDeleteWhere's the orange, the black, the yellow? Not very halloween to me x
ReplyDeleteI'm not really into this collection..doesnt scream Halloween at all. I dont know what happened, someone was thinking Halloween but still had summer on the brain? Its like they couldnt come up with anything better..eh o well. Total skip for me.
