Saturday Spam: Random Swatch Spam!

Hi guys, can you believe it's already September?!? This year is flying by, I feel like I'm going to wake up tomorrow and it's going to be 2013 already (ya know if the world doesn't end before we get there LOL).  Today I have more Saturday Spam for you! This is no particular brand this week, more like an assortment of things I've used as a base for layering or NOTD's that I've just never gotten around to posting. Check out all the swatches after the jump!

Finger Paints Lemon Sour is a light pastel yellow creme. I believe this was part of Finger Paints Spring Collection for this year. I was a bit underwhelmed by that collection as a whole and didn't buy any until I found this one on Clearance at Sally's a while back. The formula left something to be desired, it was on the streaky side and took 3 coats to even out.

Sorry for showing you the side of the bottle in the photos, fail!

Julie G- 9 to 5 is a bright peach creme. I really love this kind of color, it's soft but almost neon at the same time...weird I know but if you see it in person you'll know what I mean. The opacity was great on this but it was on the streaky side, I needed 3 coats to even it out.

L'Oreal Brit Invasion is a taupe-y brown with a stunning gold shimmer. This one reminds me of Essie Armed & Ready but less green toned, if you liked that polish you'll like this one also. The formula was great, 2 coats for full opacity. The shimmer wasn't very apparently in low light/indoors but it gave the polish nice depth!

OPI All A-Bordeaux The Sled! is a vampy wine. This is one of the first OPI's I actually remember buying back when I finally gave up biting my nails in 2009! The formula is a little streaky but it evens itself out nicely, I used 2 coats for the photos below!

OPI Alpine Snow is a white creme. I love this white, it's was my go to forever until Nails Inc Floral Street came into my life lol! The formula, for a white, is pretty great! I usually have to do 1 thin coat and 1 thick coat to get it even but I love it! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

OPI Chocolate Moose is a light brown with red undertones. This is an oldie but a goodie, it's kind of a basic color but I dunno, I'm pretty weirdly drawn to it! The formula is pretty much perfection, I used 2 coats for the photos below!

OPI Jade Is The New Black is a jade green creme. I can't believe I've never posted this one before, it's one my favorite greens. The formula is great, a nice 2 coater! I apologize for how my bottle looks in the photos, it was pretty badly separated when I decided to swatch & layer with it! No matter how much I shake it the bottle still has that yellowish green blob on the side :(

Dollish Polish Heart of Glass is shards of holographic silver glitter and bar glitter in a slightly holographic base. I had this on my wishlist forever and was finally able to snag a bottle last time Dolly's store was stocked! The formula was a bit on the thick side but I had no application issues. I used 1 coat over BB Couture Iced Olive for the photos below. I don't think this combo translates well into photos but it was all kinds of fantastical in person!

Lac Attack Butterfly Kisses is matte pink glitter and silver/holographic butterfly shaped glitter in a clear base. Please not, I'm obviously not holding the bottle in the photos bottle is a mini and my fingers look crazy when I try to hold them for photos. The bottle I'm holding is a Color Club top coat.

I did have some application issues with this one, I felt like the pink glitter was a little sparse. I also had to fish out and place the butterflies. I do like the end result so I think the work is worth it! I used 2 coats of Butterfly Kisses over Color Club Fashion Moment for the photo below.

NCLA- Poolside Party, All Eyes on Me! is another bright peach creme. This is pretty similar to the Julie G polish earlier in the post. It's not a dupe but I think you probably don't need both. I put them side by side in the collage at the beginning of the post if you want to see them side by side. The formula isn't my favorite. It was a streaky and took 3 coats to even out, then it wouldn't level for me. I wore this while it was crazy humid here so that might be why it wasn't leveling for me. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Zoya Manhattan Mixer is flecks of duochrome-y blue/green shimmer in a tinted yellow/green base. This is one of those Zoya's that I wear and love and then wonder why I never see anyone raving about it. In the bottle it doesn't look that fantastical but on=mind blown. The whole Glamsicles collection that this is part of is flippin awesome! I used 1 coat over American Apparel Hassid for the photos below, both photos are in the shade.

Zoya Nidhi is a cherry red with awesome duochrome-y shimmer. This is another Zoya that is not as loved as it should be. I've seen this one quite a few times while going through all the polishes on Zoya's sites deciding what I want in one of their promos. It wasn't until I found a local beauty supply that carries a ton of Zoya that I saw it in person and died from the awesome that was happening in the bottle. That little color blob on Zoya's site does this no justice.

The red base is gorgeous but the shimmer is the star. It's the same kind of duochrome flecked shimmer as Manhattan Mixer above but in the sun it flashes blue/purple and in the shade it looks more golden. I feel like my photos aren't doing this much justice either, if you have somewhere around you that carries a good selection of Zoya (I don't think Ulta has this one) you need to see this in person. I'm not a huge red polish kind of girl but I'm obsessed with this as you can probably tell from my 2 paragraph description haha! The formula is pretty great also, it was a little thick but not in a bad way. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Below is where you can find each brand!

  1. Ughhhhh everyone looks great I can't choose!!

  2. Nidhi is such a beautiful color! I will be getting that along with Zoya Elisa.

  3. I had the same problem with Poolside Party, All Eyes on Me! that you mentioned. And, to top all that off, huge chunks started chipping off within hours of painting my nails! I was super disappointed.

  4. Loving these Zoya polishes. Just bought my first one the other day (Sarah) and couldn't believe how amazing it was! Love that Nidhi!

  5. I look forward to your Saturday posts so much. Swatch spam is so much fun!

  6. I have Nidhi, it is gorgeous, it's part of their Sparkles collection from 2010, which as a whole was fabulous.

  7. The l'oreal one looks gorgeous! I also noted the white opi, it's so hard to find a decent, opaque white.

  8. 9-5 is reminding me of Lime Crime's Peaches <3 Cream!

  9. Nidhi was my first zoya! And I got it at ulta :) its amazingg

  10. I NEED that white

  11. Haha.. I'm actually wearing Zoya Nidhi. It's such a pretty red. Looks fabulous in the sunlight. I have to get Zoya Manhattan Mixer next time I see it.

  12. Lac Attack Butterfly Kisses is awesome!

  13. My bottle of OPI Jade Is The New Black does the same thing! No matter how much I shake it!

  14. Love the L'Oreal - gorgeous! Is that a recent release that's in stores now?

  15. Manhattan Mixer is gorgeous!!! How come I never saw it before? O.O Damn me!!!
The L'Oreal is gorgeous too, but here in Italy we do not have that polish line, we only have new thin-and-tall bottles. I only saw that kind of L'Oreal bottles and polish abroad!

  16. I know this is a random question on an old post....but do you have any comparisons of OPI Jade is the new black to OPI don't mess with OPI? I have Jade (my bottle is like that too). In looking at all the swatches I can find they look almost identical. I'm thinking of ordering the whole Texas set on amazon (since I'm from there and can't believe I missed out on it! Bc I'm a new addict :)) thanks!

  17. I just got Julie G 9-5 and OMG it is just gorgeous. The actual color is a bit brighter than your pics show. It is the perfect color for the summer. I can't wait to use it in some cool nail art or maybe even a water marble. =)
