Seche Nail Lacquer Swatches & Review

Hi guys! Hope you all had a great weekend! Did anyone watch the Emmy's last night? I didn't but I did watch the pre-show on E! How awesome was the mani-cam? I was dying, what a great idea! Today I have 6 polishes from Seche to share with you guys. Seche (as in Seche Vite!) is launching their nail lacquer collection coming up in October at Ulta, their lacquers are meant to be fast drying one coat polishes! These are Big 3 Free, a few people asked about that when I posted a photo of these on my instagram!

The core range for Seche will consist of 33 colors, you can see bottle/display photos of more of the colors over on Polarbelle from Cosmoprof North America. To see swatches of the 6 I have click the read more button below!

Before I get into photos a little about the formula since they were fairly consistent across the board, for a couple of the polishes below I'll talk more about their particular formula when I get to it. I found these to be a bit on the thick side, the creamy kind of thick...not the goopy kind (hopefully that makes sense). I did have issues with the cremes bubbling if I didn't use thin coats, I did not notice the bubbling problem with the shimmery polishes though. I also tried all 6 polishes with Seche Vite and noticed shrinkage, not as bad as I sometimes get with Seche Vite but it was there. If you don't know what shrinkage is, it's where the top coat literally shrinks your polish as it dries and makes it appear as though you have tip wear. Also wanted to mention that these all dried very shiny on their own, that's always a nice bonus if you forget to top coat!

Bella is a red shimmer in burgundy base. This is in the same vein as something like OPI German-icure by OPI but without the blackened base. The formula on this one was great, it was a 1 coater!

Shade
Contemporary is a purple leaning taupe creme. This is such a classic shade, I probably have a few like it already but that's alright. This one was another 1 coater!

Hypnotic is a blue shimmer in navy blue base. This is what I'm talking about, out of these 6 polishes this is an easy favorite! Not only is the color gorgeous but the formula was perfection, a 1 coater! I feel like I'll be grabbing for this a lot, especially when I'm looking for a dark shade to layer over!

Signature is a classic red creme. Normally I wouldn't be too excited about a red creme but the formula was pretty amazing on this one, more 1 coat perfection!

Simplicity is a nude creme with yellow undertones. I found this one to be the most difficult of the 6 to work with, but it's a nude so it was a bit expected. On the first coat this went on a bit streaky but the second coat evened it out. This was also the one that I had the most bubbling problems with. I thought at first it was caused by shaking the bottle so I let it sit for over an hour then re-did the mani and still had bubbling, even with thin coats (photos were taken before the bubbling happened!) I'm guessing this one just doesn't like me since thin coats got rid of the bubbling problem with the other cremes :(

Snapdragon is a bright pink creme. This looks like a pretty good match for OPI Kiss Me On My Tulips.  I was never much of a pink polish kind of girl but shades like this get me, they are so gorgeous! This one was nearly a 1 coater! If you have shorter nails with no free edge I think 1 coat would work for you. I used 2 coats to get rid of a tiny bit of visible nail line!

For the most part I like these, the colors are nice and the formula was pretty great! I'm looking forward to picking up more shades once they are in store at Ulta! I am a little disappointed that I had shrinkage when I used Seche Vite but since I don't typically use that top coat it's not a huge issue for me. I was also disappointed in the bubbling I experienced, if you get these make sure you use thin coats!

My picks from these 6 polishes are Bella and Hypnotic, those shimmers are just wow and you really can't beat that they are 1 coaters! I will definitely be picking up more of the shimmers from Seche!

Seche Nail Lacquer will be available at Ulta beginning in October for $8.50 per bottle!

  1. These are all gorgeous especially for one coaters. I hope they come out with more daring, brights colors. I didn't know they were launching a color line but I'll make sure to check it out next time I'm at Ulta.

  2. Great the most of the cremes are one coaters- means they can double duty for stamping and I am always on the look out for those! Great review as always - thank you)))

  3. Awesome! I'm excited to see more colors from them, especially with that one-coat claim!

  4. omg thank you for explaining the shrinking!! I have never heard this explained and it makes SO much sense. this day-of tip wear drives me crazy! do you have any advice on avoiding it? I typically use Seche Vite top coat.

  5. That's nice that they've released a polish line, and one-coaters at that! Those 6 shades are classic!
Not too good for my wallet, but I'm waiting to see if they'll produce more interesting shades and finishes.

  8. After reading this I have learned a possible reason why I seem to have immediate tip wear showing after applying Seche Vite as a top coat! Interesting. If you don't normally use that as your top coat, what do you use? I love the fast drying aspect of Seche Vite. Do you use one that is comparable without the shrinkage?

  9. I usually switch between Sally Hansen Insta Dri, CND Air Dry and Cult Nails Wicked Fast!

  10. I wish I knew how to avoid it with Seche Vite, I stopped using the top coat because of it

  11. Oh my, these are awesome! With the exception of the nude, the others need to come home to my stash!!!

  12. thank you! i am definitely going to switch and see what may work best for my nails :)

  13. Thank you! I love Seche Vite, but I bet it's what is causing my shrinkage. I will try these out! I have also been using the seche vite base coat. Does the base coat also cause shrinkage or is it just the top that is the culprit? Any recommendations for base coats?

  14. I'm a huge Seche fan, so I will definitely be checking these out! I love snapdragon, such an in-your-face pink!

  15. It's about time for Seche!! Ever since I started using Seche Vite fast dry top coat, I've been wishing for them to release their own nail polish that dried as fast as their famous top coat. My dreams have come true T____T *joy*
Snapdragon would certainly be my pick! :D

  16. I've never tried any of their base coats so I'm not sure if they cause shrinkage or not. I pretty much only use CND Stickey as a base!

  17. loving the purple taupe! And what an own goal - their own top coat shrinks it ?? you can't make that stuff up ... lol

  18. lol I thought it was a little funny too, I think it's because the lacquers are 3 free and the top coat isn't. It's the only logical thing I can think of for what causes the shrinkage

  19. Glad you like them!

  20. Glad you like them, that's why I like Snapdragon also! It's so vibrant!

  21. woohoo! Hope you love them when you get them!

  22. Thanks :) I'm excited to see more swatches as people are able to get these in store!

  23. Thank you! ♥

  24. Me too, I love good one coaters so I'll be tempted to buy things from Seche if they are 1 coaters even if I already have dupes for them that require more coats

  25. Thank you! I can't wait to see if these are good for stamping, it's not something I do very much but I always hate when I try and the polish I'm trying to stamp with doesn't transfer

  26. hypnotic is my kind of colour! so pretty :D

  27. Omg, I LOVED the Mani-Cam! How awesome was that?! And I thought it was super adorable when Julianne Hough was talking about how she and Ryan Seacrest had stayed up making it the night before! :) <3

These polishes are pretty cool - one coat plus fast dry is great! The colors aren't very unique, but definitely pretty and you've gotta love the convenience factor! Shame about the bubbling, though.

  28. I think Seche has made a few actual polishes before because I have one called Seche Red. It's a GORGEOUS red creme/jelly (probably my favorite red) but the odd thing is that Seche Vite doesn't play well with it. It never dries!

  29. Hypnotic is gorgeous!! It's a bummer to hear about the bubbling and shrinkage with Seche Vite though. I usually only get shrinkage with Seche when I use it over jelly finishes!

  30. OHMYGOSH! I've been waiting for my nail bloggers to share these, aww, I gazed at these photos for too long! I cannot wait to try these!! I need every shade you showed here! LOL :) :) :)

  31. I hope they release more 1-coaters :D I have a special place in my heart for brands or polishes that don't need 3-4 coats per mani.

    ReplyDelete
  32. oooo, I ♥ every single one of those colors! I didn't even know Seche made COLORED polish. Geez, where have I been?

    ReplyDelete
  33. omg wow how exciting!! these colors are so pretty & the formula sounds perfect!

  34. Simplicity is a bubbling HELL. Girls, do NOT buy it. I've tried everything to make it work, skipped base coat, never touched it before manicure, etc., etc., and it still gives me bubbles. Avoid at all costs :))

    ReplyDelete
  35. I had no issues with it bubbling on me, just because something doesn't work for you doesn't mean its bad for everyone else :)
