Hi guys! Today I have Zoya's Winter/Holiday 2012 Ornate Collection to share with you guys! I am so excited for these, back during Fashion Week I saw a little teaser photo floating around on the interwebs showing tons of holographic goodness and I've been waiting for them to get into my hot little hands ever since. In addition to 3 gorgeous scattered holos Zoya is also giving us an amazing green shimmer, a glitter topper and a golden foil like polish!
Check out all the swatches & reviews by clicking the read more button below.
Aurora is a medium red toned purple with a scattered holo effect. Gorgeous polish, the color the glitter...everything! What I like most about this polish, and the other 2 similar shades from the collection, is that it looks amazing out in the sun but it also looks great inside and in low lighting! The formula was also really nice, it flowed nicely on the nail and was opaque in 2 coats!

Blaze is a berry/red with a scattered holo effect. This one isn't quite as in your face as Aurora is but the holo glitter is great out in the sun, much better than it looks in photos. The formula was great, much more opaque than I expected...I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Electra is silver and holographic bar glitter. You can wear this layered or on it's own. The formula was great, it wasn't thick but the glitter was very dense. If you wanted to wear this on it's own I think you'd need 3-4 coats. I used 1 coat over Essie She's Pampered for the photos below.

Logan is a dark forest green with green and gold shimmer. The only way Zoya could have made this better is if they had put some of that holo glitter in it! The formula was fantastic, nearly a 1 coater for me! I used 2 coats to cover up a couple patchy spots but it was barely needed!

Storm is black with a scattered holo effect. *dead* this is amazing, my favorite of the collection by far. It looks like a galaxy on your nails out in the sun, if I should ever attempt a galaxy manicure this will definitely be what my base is. The formula was great, a bit sheer on the first coat but fully opaque on the second. Storm also dried really shiny!

Ziv is a yellow gold with a foil like finish, it also has a ton of golden flake like glitter in it. It's hard to see the glitter in photos but you can see it in person. It's a nice twist on a classic gold foil! You guys know that gold isn't my favorite but I quite like this one, the glitter gives it a little something that makes it special. The formula was really nice, there was some texture because of the glitter but it was opaque in 2 coats and smooth with a coat of top coat.

Overall, I think Zoya did amazing with this collection. It feels like a holiday collection but with a fantastic twist on finishes that makes it stand out from the rest. I really like all 6 polishes but if I had to pick favorites they would be Storm, Aurora and Blaze!
The Zoya Ornate Collection is available now on Zoya.com, each polish retails for $8!

These all look amazing, but then again im a Zoya fangirl. Hahaha. Not sure on my feelings towards bar glitter, but the rest are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI think Ziv looks a bit like OPI Designer the better from the Muppets collection.
ReplyDeleteOMG, Storm is AMAZING! I digging Ziv, too, but Storm is my must-have for this collection! WOW!
ReplyDeleteI will buy storm for sure...
ReplyDeleteCan u pls compare Storm to butter london black knight and cirque dark horse. Also culd u compare aurora to deborah lippmann flash dance (from the dance music trio)
ReplyDeleteHey jen, can you please compare Electra with Opi save me? Thanks. Love your swatches!
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for a polish like Storm FOR-EV-ER!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous collection! Storm is definitely my favourite. It would be handy to see Logan compared to Zoya Ivanka and also how does Blaze compare to Orly's Miss Conduct from the holiday collection.
ReplyDeleteThis is in my opinion the best of the upcoming collections, and I say that only because Storm and Aurora are in it!!!!!! SOOOOOOOOOOO looking forward for these to be released!
ReplyDeleteI like them all except for Electra. Electra = hairy fingers!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI have a few requests for some comparisons!
ReplyDeleteAurora/OPI DS Extravagance
Logan/ China Glaze Glittering Garland
Ziv/ OPI Goldeneye
Thank you! :)
loooooooooooove <3

I would like to see Blaze compared to OPI Designer series Extravagance and Zoya Allegra. If you have them...that would be AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteI've been anxiously awaiting your swatches! Can you compare Storm and A-England Bridal Veil?
ReplyDeleteThis collection looks so dang amazing! The only ones I don't want are the green and the bar glitter. Everything else is coming home to live with me!
ReplyDeleteI ordered Aurora and Blaze from this collection and the spoons for the others - mine should be here soon - I think they said the release mail date for this was Oct 15 and I paid the extra $2 for expedited shipping. Curious that you love Storm. I did not order it because I have been so disappointing in a # of dark black/gray polishes with 'stuff' in the. So many of them the 'stuff' disappears either not translating from the bottle to the nail or not being able to get the 'stuff' out of the bottle (looking at you Orly Androgynous). Now you have me wishing I had put Smoke into my order. Maybe I will get to the one store that is more than 250 miles from here and pick it up in person vs. playing for a short order that will not give me free ship. I really wish Zoya was marketed in more retail outlets - not that my area I live in would have outlets that would stock them! We are so poor on having surviving retail - even getting OPI in my area is a long wait and the closet is over 60 miles each way. Odd as there is a large college town only 12 miles from me...and I know with that population OPI would have a ready market. My guess is so many indies now, so much more on line shopping, tons more of frequently changing drug-store lines coming in has decreased the specialty retails from being able to consider carrying lines like Zoya and OPI. There's a lot of product that sits a long time to have the ones come in that are the hot sellers.
ReplyDeleteOh - all 3 of these are good ones. I thought of the first 1 myself right off.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am not a fan of that one - and I am OK with bar glitter...just something about Zoya's bar glitter that leaves it really looking hairy. I bought all 3 of their holiday 2011 bar glitters and never wore them more than just a fast drop on a clean white sheet of paper. Hated the look once I saw them in swatches. Kept thinking I would sell the entire 6 bottle set as never got around to wearing any of them.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI'M french , and I would like to know what is the best top coat for you ?
Il like when my polish is very very glossy !
thank's for your response !
Muriel
I second comparing Logan to Ivanka
ReplyDeleteI third it!
DeleteI love this collection so much. Zoya really outdid themselves this year!
ReplyDeleteI want to see these comparisons as well!
ReplyDeleteThe more I see of this collection, the more I fall in love with it!!! SO, so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI usually use Sally Hansen Insta Dri, Cult Nails Wicked Fast and CND Air Dry are also great!
ReplyDeleteI made myself hold off on ordering these polishes until you swatched them. I'm pretty surprised, actually, because I didn't think I would like Storm so much and Aurora looks so different out of the bottle to me. I liked the same ones you did, so I ordered all three of your collection picks. I love nail mail!
ReplyDeleteI like! XoXo
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one that thinks this collection is just normal? Nothing really special.
ReplyDeleteI want those holo jellies!!
ReplyDeleteI love these, except for Electra and Ziv. They are fine, but they have too much competition. Aurora, Logan, and Blaze are on my wish list now. Unfortunately for my wallet, Zoya is my favorite brand and I recently discovered a little no-name salon in my area that sells them. It's in the same parking lot as my bank...that's not fair.
ReplyDeleteAurora is my favorite :)
ReplyDeleteThis...I'd love to see comparison swatches for these two!
ReplyDeleteLove them all!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Jen, also dying over here for Storm!!! Could you compare Blaze to Orly's Miss Conduct?? Great swatches!!!
ReplyDeletethank you very much !!!!
ReplyDeleteMuriel
I can't believe how full of win this entire collection is :) I'm a huge fan of Logan because it was a huge surprise for me! I already knew I would love the holos lol!
ReplyDeleteCould you compare Logan to Ivanka? I feel like the two are very similar. Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteIf you could, a comparison between Storm and BL The Black Knight. The photos in the sun are making me think they are more similar than I realized, other than the fact that TBK is a jelly and not a holo.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! I cannot stop looking at this collection. It's so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteO.O WOW!!! This collection is absolutely AMAZING!!! I am extra super in love with the 3 polishes that have those amazing holo sparkles! Aurora! <3 Storm! <3 Blaze! <3 *swoooooooooooon* Those = must haves for me! :D
ReplyDeleteFor comparisons I'd love to see:
- Ziv vs OPI Dazzled by Gold- Logan vs China Glaze Glittering Garland- Storm vs Butter London The Black Knight (I know they aren't dupes but I'm curious to see them side-by-side to see which one has more dazzle) :)
Oh man, I just want to haul the whole collection, lol! *\o/* Zoya has knocked my socks off yet again! :D
P.S. Also wanted to say that I love Zoya so much not only for their gorgeous amazing polishes but for keeping those polishes stocked, consistent, and available for everyone (and not making anyone crazy with limited edition heart attacks). Zoya is getting more and more of my polish money and I feel happy to give it to them! <3
id add to that if u can compare blaze to picture polish monroe
ReplyDeleteHey, Jen!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful as always!
If possible I'd like to see "Storm" x "Cult Nails I Got Distracted"....lately I've been sucking for these darks...
xx
Ooh, 2nd/3rding comparing Blaze to Miss Conduct and Logan compared to Ivanka and Apple, if you have them :)
ReplyDeleteI love Storm! I've been thinking about buying Cirque's Dark Horse, do you know how they compare?
ReplyDeleteOne more comparison request (if possible). I was digging around in my stash and remembered that I had BYS Down the Rabbit Hole (black base with tons of sparkly holo twinkles). I'd love to see a comparison of DtRH and Storm if possible. :D
ReplyDeleteZoya has comparisons of Logan and Ivanka on their facebook page.:)
ReplyDeleteI don't own any Cirque polishes, sorry
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I have one comparison to ask for: Blaze/Essie Wild Thing. I don't think they're dupes but I would like to know how close they are.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
Could you compare Logan to ChG glittering garland?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for these swatches! I'd love to see a comparison of Storm with Girly Bits Into the Night … and maybe Blaze with Razzle Dazzle (I know the colours are different, but it would be nice to see how similar the finishes are). The Zoya holos look lovely, but I feel like some of my Girly Bits polishes may be similar.
ReplyDeleteYes yes! Please compare Logan to ChG Glittering Garland! They def look the same!
ReplyDeleteGreat colors! Does Ziv compare at all to OPI Designer de Better? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI would like to see Zoya "Storm" vs. A-England "Bridal Veil" and Zoya "Aurora" vs. A-England "Lady of the Lake" please!
ReplyDeleteAgree! How close are they?
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see a comp of Logan and NYX Emerald Forest.
ReplyDeleteI don't own that polish, sorry!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, I don't own that BYS polish
ReplyDeleteI don't own that Cult Nails polish, sorry!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I don't own Dazzled by Gold but I'll put the others on my list!
ReplyDeleteI had to let bar glitter grow on me, I used to hate it but I quite like it now!
ReplyDeleteI'll add that to my list!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Storm is just...wow!
ReplyDeleteYou'll love it, pictures don't do it justice!
ReplyDeletewoohoo! Glad you finally found it!

ReplyDeletethanks for the suggestions, I'll add them to my list!
ReplyDeleteI'll add that to my list!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like em, it's an awesome collection!
ReplyDeleteHope they get to you soon! Storm is pretty awesome in person, hopefully it translates in the spoon...the glitter really shines through the dark base! I wish Zoya was more widely available too, though I don't think my wallet would care for that!
ReplyDeleteI agree! It's fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThis is how I feel about it too!
ReplyDeletewoohoo! You'll love them even more in person I think!
ReplyDeletethank you!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good pick, Aurora is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteglad you like them!
ReplyDeleteI'll add that to my list!
ReplyDeleteme either, Zoya killed it with this collection!
ReplyDeleteI'll add that to my list!
ReplyDeletesure, I'll add that to my list
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteI'll add that one to my list!
ReplyDeletethanks for the suggestions, I'll add them to my list!
ReplyDeleteI'll add it to my list, thanks Maja!
ReplyDeletethanks for the suggestions, I'll add them to my list!
ReplyDeleteI'll add all of those to my list! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm curious how Blaze and Paloma compare shade wise. I use Paloma with other micro-glitter polishes for a similar effect.
ReplyDeleteBlaze is much more red toned than Paloma is :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm totally new to the world of nail polishes and quite frankly I used to think nail polish was a waste of time. But after googling a few OPI colours that caught my eye, your blog came up first and it has given me such insight ever since. I'm very thankful that you do what you do today and I must say, your manicures are absolutely gorgeous! Can only hope I'll be as skilled as you one day.
ReplyDeletethank you ♥
