Hi guys! Today I have a quick NOTD (nail of the day) to share with you. For once this is actually what I'm wearing at this moment, not only that but I actually have it on all 10 nails. Having all of my nails painted the same color is a true rarity, it's even more rare that I have them painted the same and with some kind of nail art on all of them!
Ever since I did my quilting look a little while back I've been wanting to do it again. I really love the way this looks and it's pretty easy to do, the possibilities are endless with it! I decided to do a matte/glossy look and a glittery accent nail. For the glossy and matte nails I used Nails Inc Black Taxi as my base then instead of using another color polish over the striping tape used to create the pattern I did a coat of Essie Matte About You. The for the accent nail I used the same base polish and OPI Mad As A Hatter for the glitter. For a full tutorial on how to do the quilting effect please check out this post.
Big thank you to the fabulous Liz from Life and Polish for totally blowing my mind a few weeks ago and sending me a bottle of OPI Mad As A Hatter. I had no idea it was on it's way and I almost passed out when I opened her package, MAAH was a polish I thought I'd never own!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous… Wow…
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite pinterests pins is a picture of your first quilted manicure and it says "to achieve this look, paint two coats of a polish and then use a RULER to make the impressions". I feel bad for the people who tried that nonsense! Love this look!
ReplyDeleteI saw these on FB and just about cried. You are such a talent! I tried sharing on my Pinterest board but I couldn't.
ReplyDeleteOooo, I like this! :)
ReplyDeletelol I know, I've seen it with that description several times on Pinterest. I just shake my head...I wonder if it would actually work doing it that way though

ReplyDeleteJust curious: is there a particular person/place you get your striping tape? There are so many listings on eBay and other places, and I'm hoping someone can suggest a good, reliable seller.
I've only ever bought mine at a local store, I would just make sure to check the feedback of the seller on ebay. I don't buy from anyone will less than 100% feedback
ReplyDeletethank you <3

ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely gorgeous! I'm going to give it a try, I just got Maybelline Colorshow in Rose Bling today which I will sub for the OPI Mad As A Hatter. This matte/shiny black is my favorite look at the moment, well done.
ReplyDeletethank you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mani!
ReplyDeleteLooove this I will definitely try it out!!
ReplyDeleteI just did this mani yesterday, although I did my lines vertical/horizontal rather than the diagonal. Also refused to pay $120 for a bottle of Mad As A Hatter on Ebay so I found China Glaze Glitter All The Way as it looks to be almost identical. I've gotten so many compliments on my mani already!
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the work you do!!
I just bought 30 rolls off of Ebay asI couldn't find them in the stores. :( As they were being shipped from Hong Kong it took about 2 weeks to get here but I was happy with the purchase.
ReplyDeleteThis one is truly gorgeous! I can see why you actually did all ten nails! I'm starting to get like you ...a random patchwork of nail art for blog posts and videos! My fans are going to love this one! Pinning! ~Ana
