Hi guys! Hope you're all having a great weekend so far! Mine has been busy busy busy, besides blog stuff I went shopping for toys for a charity my work donates to every year for the holidays. I went a little crazy, I enjoy shopping for other people more than I enjoy shopping for myself...it's guilt free haha! I have to say though, I'm a little traumatized by how creepy the new improved Furby is...I saw them when I was at Target and wow! I don't remember them looking so scary when they were around years ago!
Anyway, today I have my first bit of Spring 2013 to share with you, it's the Nicole by OPI Selena Gomez Collection! Nicole by OPI has teamed up with Selena Gomez to bring us a new 14 piece collection, everything from gorgeous glitters to bright cremes! I'm usually a fan of winter collections because I love all the darker shades but when it starts being this late in the year I get antsy for brights again, this collection has a bunch of great ones! It makes me excited for Spring to get here!
Check out all the swatches after the jump!
Confetti Fun is a multi colored glitter in a shimmery base. When I saw this I was like ugh...another rainbow glitter, just what I need. But then I put it on and color me impressed, that shimmery base is something special. I much prefer this over pretty much every other rainbow glitter in my stash. The formula was great, not thick at all. The glitter payoff was also really nice, I used 1 coat over Zoya Breezi for the photos below. Both photos are in the shade.
Heavenly Angel is an iridescent shredded glitter. This was wow in the bottle, I always love a good iridescent glitter. However, it was so hard to work with, what a disappointment. The glitter was sparse and hard to apply. The glitter is the kind of shards that stick up all crazy even with top coat. This is just a total miss for me, sorry. I used 2 coats over Pretty In Plum for the photos below, both photos are in the shade.
Hit The Lights is a bright yellow creme! This is the kind of polish that makes me excited for Spring to get here! The formula was good, it was a bit streaky but not as bad as yellows typically are. It was opaque at 2 coats but I ended up using 3 coats to even it out.

Inner Sparkle is pink and lilac hex glitter mixed with small gold glitter in a clear base. I love this mix of glitter, it's very soft and pastel looking! The formula was great, not thick and easy to apply. I used 1 coat over Nails Inc Black Taxi for the photos below, all photos are in the shade.
I actually prefer this over white, it didn't photograph well that way but I would recommend that color combo if you get this! It's beautiful!
Kissed At Midnight is gold and silver glitter in a clear base. Most of the time this looked just gold but if you get up close you can see the silver hex glitter in the mix. The formula again, was great...not thick and very easy to apply. I used 1 coat over Zoya Pinta for the photos below, all photos are in the shade.
Love Song is a really pretty lilac. There is the most hidden shimmer ever in this polish. You can see the shimmer a tiny bit in the photos but I couldn't see it in person, even in direct sunlight. The formula was great, it flowed nicely and was easy to apply. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Mi Fantasia is small blurple glitter and holographic bar glitter in a clear base. I'm a little torn on this one, I tried it over a few colors and I'm not loving it but I feel like if I ever find the right base polish for it I'll feel differently. The formula was good, as was the glitter payoff! I used 1 coat over Spring Break for the photos below.

Naturally is a bubble gum pink. It also has that same kind of hidden shimmer that Love Story had. The formula was really nice, it wasn't streaky at all and applied easily. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Pretty In Plum is really pretty shimmery red toned purple. I really love this polish, it was one of those that looks like it glows...even in the shade! The formula was great, it didn't show brush strokes and it went on easily. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Scarlett is fuschia pink shimmer. Love this, it's almost wanting to be a foil finish but it's not. The shimmer is also verging on duochrome in the shade where it almost goes pink to gold. The formula was great, nice and opaque! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Selena is a peachy pink. This also has that hidden shimmer that we've seen a couple times in this collection. I actually thought this would be more peach but once I put it on it leans much more pink. Very flattering color, I'm a big fan of peachy shades...if you are too you will like this! The formula was good, a little on the thick side but it was easy to apply and not streaky. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Spring Break is a bright pink creme! Perfect name for this shade, I have to say! This is something I'd wear on my toes to the beach in a heartbeat! The formula was great, nearly opaque in 1 coat! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Stars At Night is holographic and silver bar glitter in a clear base. I know bar glitter isn't for everyone but I quite like it, I always loves ones like this because they look like strips of rainbows all over your nails when the light hits the nail right. The formula was nice, a little thick but easy to apply. The glitter payoff was awesome! I used 1 coat over Nails Inc Black Taxi for the photos below.

Sweet Dreams is aqua, silver and purple glitter in a clear base. This is one of my favorites of the collection, I don't think I have a glitter quite like it! The purple glitter is almost the same shade as Love Story! The formula was great, the glitter payoff was also great! I used 1 coat over Love Song for the photos below.

Overall I think this is a nice collection, a little something for everyone whether you like work safe pinks or crazy bright yellows topped with glitter. My picks are Sweet Dreams, Selena, Scarlett, Inner Sparkle and Pretty In Plum.
Selena Gomez lacquers will be available January 2013 for $7.99 each at retailers including select Target, Walmart, CVS, K-mart, Rite Aid, ULTA, Sears, Meijer, Fred Meyer, Kroger and H-E-B locations. In Canada, this line will be available for $10.99 each at Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart Canada, Jean Coutu, Loblaw, and London Drug
All so pretty but I think Selena is my fav.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for some of the glitters and cremes in this collection! Great swatches!
ReplyDeleteConfetti Fun surprises me, too, now that you've swatched it. I like it. Most of this collection is meh to me otherwise. I like the pastel glitters but not enough for $8 a bottle.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to see NOPI step away from the Kardashian Kolors! *gag*
can i put in a request for a comparison post on spring break? i know there are several other similar bright pinks. i really like this one, but do i "need" it? ;)
ReplyDeleteis pretty in plum a dupe for OPI suzi and the 7 dusseldorfs?
ReplyDeleteThere are a few good colors in here. I do like that multicolored one. I seem to be building a collection...
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome review!!! There are actually a lot I like here.
ReplyDeleteYep, I need Inner Sparkle! Thanks for the lovely swatches! If I didn't have so many cremes already, I'd want more of these.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to finally see swatches of this collection. The only one I really think I am going to buy is the yellow, but that's because I have a serious problem with buying yellow polish. lol.
ReplyDeletethe yellow one is so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI'll have a comparison post up soon
ReplyDeleteohhhmg Inner Sparkle and Sweet Dreams are beautiful! I'll have to try and resist spending more money on polish until the new year.... Mi Fantasia looks similar to China Glaze's Marry A Millionaire, but I think the CG is more purple the blurple.
ReplyDeleteThese are all so pretty and fun! But, tbh, I hate these bottles and I never buy them only because of that - silly huh? haha
ReplyDeleteHow does Pretty in Plum compare to Louvre me Louvre me not? Just curious!
ReplyDeleteThat yellow is sooo cute!!
ReplyDeletethe OPI is much more dusty, the shimmer is very different also
ReplyDeletewhat a pretty collection! oddly tho i think Selena is my favorite :)
ReplyDeleteHeavenly Angel looks similar to the CG Hunger Games Luxe and Lush..
ReplyDeletethey are similar-ish. The shards of glitter flash very different colors. China Glaze is more of an orangey/red/green and Heavenly Angle is pastel. Same idea though
ReplyDeleteBeautiful swatches! Do you think Stars at Night and OPI Save Me are dupes?
ReplyDeletethey aren't, Save Me has blue bar glitter
ReplyDeleteMmm... yeah, I need that yellow!!! And most of the glitters, lol.
ReplyDeleteI wish they were available right now... ;_;
ReplyDeleteI love Kissed at Midnight and Sweet Dreams. I've been waiting for someone to do a glitter with silver AND gold in it :) The yellow creme is pretty too but yellow looks really terrible on me, and I already have two yellow polishes that I never wear, heh. Confetti Fun is also nice, but I already have a couple different rainbow glitters and I don't think I can justify paying $8 for yet another one.
ReplyDeletenice swatches! i'm definitely more interested in the glitters
ReplyDeleteI love all the glitters! I can't wait to get my hands on them. The yellow is pretty amazing but yellow looks awful on me so I'll pass.
ReplyDeleteim liking the glitters more than the cremes... the yellow one is a little funky
ReplyDeleteHow do you think Stars at Night compares to Zoya's recently released Electra?
ReplyDeleteSelena is my favourite shade :D I like Heavenly Angel too! Pity about the shards sticking out :(
ReplyDeleteI think this looks like a very well-rounded collection.
ReplyDeleteSome of these are really pretty!
ReplyDeleteOh I just looove hex-glitters! Though Confetti Fun is biiiit too colorful for my taste, too restless :S
ReplyDeleteI'll have a comparison post up later this week that includes that :)
ReplyDeleteI love all the glitters!
ReplyDeleteSweet dreams in aqua is def my fav
ReplyDeleteI want this collection. BAD!
ReplyDeleteLove your site! I just purchased Sinful Colors faceted and it looks very similiar to Mi Fantasia. Would love to see a comparison
ReplyDeleteI don't own that Sinful Colors polish, sorry :(
ReplyDeleteI also had a "meh" reaction to Mi Fantasia but I just put it over Sally Hansen Azure from the Lustre Shine line and POW! I am actually kind of in love with it! If you have that polish (or one similar...I think one of the Gloria polishes from the Modern Family is pretty close) maybe that combo could change your mind?
ReplyDeleteI just used heavenly angel over sally hansen pacific blue. Heavenly angel looks beautiful in the bottle but it made me mad when I tried to use it. Pretty much exactly what you said. any good nail polish out there similar to heavenly angel?
ReplyDeleteHeavenly angel looks great over blues and with other glitters on top. For me, the shards stayed down with butter top coat! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking such great photos... This really helps me make a definite decision on buying a color
