Saturday Spam: a england

Hi guys, happy weekend! Anyone doing anything fun this weekend? I'm doing lots of blog related things this weekend so that should keep me busy, then I'm going out with some friends to look at Christmas lights. I'm generally not a woohooo holidays kind of person but I always loving going and looking at how people decorate their houses.

Today I have a little bit of a england spam for you! It includes the entire Gothic Beauties collection along with 2 of the newer shades Adina recently put out. Check out all the swatches after the jump!

The formula for all of these was consistently great, as is the usual with a england! I used 2 thin coats of polish for every polish in this post.

Beauty Never Fails is a dark olive green packed with golden shimmer. I died a little when I put this on, as a big lover of green nail polish this is a big winner for me! It's such a gorgeous shade and the shimmer was fantastic! The shimmer was visible indoors, in the shade and out in the sun!

Shade

Dorian Gray is a dark pewter grey with a golden shimmer. I do love this shade of great but the finish isn't my favorite. It's a little too brush strokey for me but I feel like I'll probably grab for it for layering since the formula was so great.

Shade

Holy Grail is an antiqued gold foil. This is the new version of Holy Grail, I don't have the old one to compare it to, sorry! It's no secret I am not overly fond of gold polish but I quite like this one. I think the fact that it's a dark gold makes it much more wearable and flattering on my skin tone.

Shade

Jane Eyre is a black base with crimson shimmer. The new few polishes are kind of a let down for me, I LOVE them in the bottle but on the nail I feel like the fall a little flat. The amazing shimmer in the bottle doesn't translate onto the nail like I would have liked it to to. If you are a big lover of vampy shades I think you will probably love these, but if you don't like hidden shimmers I probably wouldn't recommend them.

Shade

Lady Of Shalott is sapphire blue shimmer in a black base. The shimmer in this one while still hidden was a bit easier to see out in direct sunlight, it's one of my favorites from the Gothic Beauties collection!

Shade

Ophelia is purple shimmer in a black base. This one was SO gorgeous in the bottle but I feel like it's the biggest let down of the bunch. The shimmer was pretty much invisible to my eyes, even in direct sunlight :(

Shade

Tess D'Urbervilles is green shimmer in a black base. This is my overall favorite from the Gothic Beauties collection! The shimmer was the most noticeable of the bunch and well, it's green....what's not to love?

  3. I love a england! Jane Eyre reminds me of German-icure and Ophelia reminds me of Every Month is Oktoberfest. Are any of these dupes?

  4. These are gorgeous, but like you I wish that the shimmer was more prominent in the darker ones! Tess is my favourite, green shimmers are the best!

  5. I love vampy colors and the only one I really loved was Jane Erye. It would have been so much nicer with more shimmer though, or the shimmer being a shade or two lighter in color.

  6. nope, both of the OPI's are about a 1000 times more shimmery

  7. I love these colors! My kind of colors. I am never a neon fan. Anyway, I was wondering if Beauty Never Fails is a dupe of Essie's Armed & Ready?

How does Beauty Never Fails compare to China Glaze's Cast A Spell?

  12. I haven't had time to do any comparisons, I'm not sure...sorry!

  13. Beauty Never Fails looks a bit close to Live And Let Die from the Skyfall collection. Are they dupes?

  14. nope, Live and Let Die is more of an evergreen green with green shimmer.

  17. Love the swatches, but yes the Gothic Beauties could have been prettier!

  18. if you want the shimmer to show more, do two coats of the polish, then gently swipe with remover. It removes the black base from the second coat, leaving the shimmer exposed. Add top coat, and BLAM! What we all wish these polishes looked like from the get-go.

    1. What a nice recommendation! I hope it works. Do you know if this also works for indie style polishes when the glitter is obscured by a milky base?

  19. Gorgeous swatches! The blackened ones are just too dark for me, though.
